During his studies at the University of Chicago, Walter Cade Reckless joined forces with American sociologists Robert Park and Ernest Burgess and focused on observational studies of crime within the city of Chicago. As his studies continued he began to focus on the problem of juvenile delinquency and eventually, while he served as the professor of criminology at Ohio State University, concluded that delinquency may be a result of internal and external insulators failing.
