Zach planned to use their shared grief over lost loved ones—Julie's husband, his own wife and daughter—to get close enough to uncover the truth. He hadn't planned on Julie's quiet strength and unshakable faith lighting his dark soul. As sinister events unfolded, Zach realized Julie was in grave danger. My late Aunt wrote this book, and I am not only proud of her accomplishment of completing her own novel (while fighting cancer!) but also of what a great read it was! The Inn At Shadow Lake is filled with romance and mystery, and makes for a great weekend read filled with suspense and fun. I am confident that mystery or romance lovers will enjoy this story, even if they are not the author's proud niece! ;)

Zach and Julie dated in college and when he asked Julie to marry him, she refused, angering Zach. He stormed off on his Harley, not giving Julie a chance to explain why she’d said no.

Now, a number of years later, Julie is stunned when Jack miraculously appears at her inn. He’s the “mystery man” who’s made reservations to stay at her establishment for a lengthy time. Unbeknownst to Julie, Zack is a special agent, seeking a deadly terrorist ring and Julie is a prime suspect.

As part of the ruse, Jack needs to pump Julie for information about one of her “beaus”. He romances Julie, asking questions, however, while romancing her, he finds those dormant feelings of love resurfacing. But his gut is telling him that Julie is innocent, however, he wonders…why hasn’t she mentioned that her groundskeeper was murdered? Is she somehow responsible for his death?

Julie finds herself falling for Zach and her daughter Emmie is smitten with him, too. Since her husband has died, she’s been lonely, and Zach fills a special place, deep in her heart. She senses that Zach is hurting and she wonders what has happened to him since their huge breakup in college.

This book was a good shorter book that you can read in about a day or so. The suspenseful moments keep you guessing until the very end. I enjoyed reading about the classy, secluded inn. It’s a great setting for a good suspenseful story. Both Zach and Julie have been hurt in the past, and they need to learn to rely on God, first and foremost, to help them through their troubles. Overall, this was a nice, inspirational story that wasn’t too preachy.

The Inn At Shadow Lake was a good romantic suspense read. I really liked most of the story, but there were a few times I didn't enjoy it as much.

I liked the characters and thought the romance was nice and sweet. I always seem to enjoy novels where one of the main characters is an FBI Agent (especially if they are undercover!) and The Inn At Shadow Lake was no different.

Overall, a good one-time read. If you enjoy romantic suspense novels, then I think you'll probably also like The Inn At Shadow Lake. =)

Apparently I had read this book in 2008 but I really didn't remember much of the storyline so I actually would keep the 4 stars. It's really good and I was hoping to find out if Sarah would have a book of her own but unfortunately the author passed away. The book was a good mystery which had you wonder who was who and who was in on it.

This book continues to hold its spot on my bookshelf through multiple moves and good intentioned decluttering. The cover is beautiful. The story is suspenseful. The bombshell at the end never ceases to affect me.
