Kelley Armstrong has been telling stories since before she could write. Her earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, hers would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to her teachers' dismay. All efforts to make her produce "normal" stories failed.
Today, she continues to spin tales of ghosts and demons and werewolves, while safely locked away in her basement writing dungeon. She's the author of the NYT-bestselling "Women of the Otherworld" paranormal suspense series and "Darkest Powers" young adult urban fantasy trilogy, as well as the Nadia Stafford crime series. Armstrong lives in southwestern Ontario with her husband, kids and far too many pets.
I like the voice of Jeremy. I like to get into his head and connect with him. This reads like an outtake from Bitten and shows how lonely Jeremy really is. He has these echos, or ghosts, haunting him around the house. He has some regrets, and some things he would not change for anything. He doesn't only show us these things, he also tells us why he would or wouldn't make the changes. I know the series has by now ended, but I hope Ms Armstrong has written more from his point of view.
A slice of life, this time from Jeremy's POV during the events in Bitten. I suspect people who don't know Jeremy will find this story strange and boring, but for the rest of us it gives a peek of all the turmoil that's hidden behind that quiet demeanor. Jeremy stories somehow always leave me with a sad feeling.
I liked seeing Jeremy reflect on what is happening and how his style of leadership may have influenced the events. Other than that, not much is happening but it was interesting. I feel like we truly get to know Jeremy by reading these short stories!
Meh, rationalizing oppression doesn't make it okay. The ends do not justify the means. This really brings out the dynamic reasons why Jeremy makes me so uncomfortable. He and Clay both. Just too patriarchal🤷🏾♀️
Ghosts is another of those Otherworld short stories that works to add more to events we already know about. Again, it is not a vital part of the series but it is an interesting short read if you’re looking to find out more about the world – specifically the werewolf aspect of the world.
Would have read it just for Antonio's reaction to Jeremy finding Elena's hairtie on the kitchen floor, hoping that whatever Clay and her did in the kitchen (....wink wink) they at least wiped the counter after. It was super short, didn't really add anything, and frankly could be read during the chapter where clay and elena are on the plane (but also it would be hard to fit it in there since the book is a single POV) but I still liked it, and here's why:
It happens during the events of Bitten, so before Stolen, from the POV of Jeremy when Elena and Clay have just left for Toronto. We don't get a lot, we do get a small but really interesting perspective from Jeremy of Elena and Clay after the bite. It's REALLY short, like 2 pages out of the maybe 10 pages of the story. It gives you Jeremy's voice, you get to see a small aspect of what he saw and thought when Elena was bit, and overall that's it. I wanted to read it because I love the author so much I want to get all perspectives from the story, and I bought Tales of the Otheworld to get as many of the novellas as possible. Since the compilation of novellas has 9 novellas and 498 pages, and I bought it for 3,99 on kindle, I'd say it's a good deal.
Otherworld series 1.1. This very short story is about Jeremy, the Stonehaven Pack Alpha as he anguishes over the ghosts and memories of his past life events and possible bad decisions.
Footnote: 1) This story is in the ‘Tales of the Otherworld’ collection originally found on the author’s website. You can either read the main books first then go back and pick up the short bits and pieces or, like me, do them all in order and try to figure out who/what everybody is.
I love anything from Jeremy's point of view. It's fascinating to get a glimpse of what was going through his mind when Clayton did what he did to Elena. My only gripe is not getting enough Jeremy stories :)
Mostly an internal monologue of Jeremy’s during Bitten. It’s interesting to see how the author shows his mind working when usually we only see the surface decisions. I love these little details.
Short and to the point. Jeremy is harbouring his own worries about how he is handling his pack and especially Clayton and Elena. I really like Jeremy. This is a snippet from Jeremy’s mind from Bitten. Jeremy being the one to help Elena after Clay bit her. The hurt of banishing Clayton from the Pack. We tend to forget about Jeremy and his thoughts. He brought Clayton into his Pack and didn’t give up on him and he didn’t give up on Elena. She is now the only female werewolf and with that comes those who want her for their own uses.
He’d bitten this girl, and I was the one who had to luisten to her sob, rage, scream until she had no voice left and, worst of all, cry quietly in the corner, calling his name when she thought no one was listening. I had to restrain her during her Changes, fight her, bear he bites and scratches, none of them more painful than that look of utter terror on her face as her body changed forms.
An Alpha must put the well-being of the Pack first. At all times. At all costs. Each individual member within that Pack must be protected, but an Alpha’s priority is the Pack itself, as an entity, as a construct. If no members of the Pack remain, the Pack ceases to exist. I cannot allow that. Ever.
A great short story that had me feeling like giving Jeremy a big wolfie hug.

This story takes place after Jeremy has sent Clay and Elena away in Bitten. While walking through his rather empty house, Jeremy takes a moment to relive his decisions and life choices that put him here. It was interesting to watch the rather decisive and strong leader spend a little bit of time questioning himself. Jeremy continues to be one of the most interesting characters in the series (for me).
This is a Otherworld short about Werewolf Alpha Jeremy. He is haunted by ghosts of memories of decisions he has made. It mostly just gives you some insight into his personality and his father figure mentality to his pack. It is really just a refresher of the events from Bitten. Another great short, for anyone who is committed to the Otherworld series.
Great short story of Jeremy during Bitten when Clay and Elena go back to Toronto, and he remembers Elena after Clay bit her, and then Clay after Elena escapes because of him, and those ghosts and echos. Loved it!!!
An insightful snippet from Jeremy's perspective. I gives a bit of his thinking behind when he sends Elena and Clay to Toronto in the first full length novel, Bitten. It mentioned the pack's loss of Logan but nothing about Peter who was also killed prior to this point in time.
Great story from Jeremey's POV, takes place during the events in Bitten, and basically is him thinking back on Clay and Elena's relationship, the part he played in her transformation, and the situation they find themselves in now. I really enjoy Jeremey's take on some of the other characters.
