Kelley Armstrong has been telling stories since before she could write. Her earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, hers would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to her teachers' dismay. All efforts to make her produce "normal" stories failed.
Today, she continues to spin tales of ghosts and demons and werewolves, while safely locked away in her basement writing dungeon. She's the author of the NYT-bestselling "Women of the Otherworld" paranormal suspense series and "Darkest Powers" young adult urban fantasy trilogy, as well as the Nadia Stafford crime series. Armstrong lives in southwestern Ontario with her husband, kids and far too many pets.
I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but Paige and Lucas are my favourite couple from Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series. I know there are plenty out there who do not care much for more stories on the duo, but I live for them. Thus, I’ve been super eager to dive into Wedding Bell Hell for quite some time.
Without a doubt, this one was an adorable little Paige and Lucas read, perfect for fans of the couple. It wasn’t quite what I had expected, but it was a fun read. There was plenty to see throughout the story, providing us with more of the things we love about the characters and the world – not to mention, a few laughs thrown in for good measure.
Certainly worth reading if you enjoy the extras Kelley Armstrong provides for the Women of the Otherworld series.
Wedding Bell Hell – Ahh Lucas and Paige’s wedding and instead of a MIL to make Paige’s plans go awry it's Lucas’s father. It is funny and sweet if he didn’t make it feel manipulative.
Paige Winterbourne, daughter of the Coven leader, Ruth Winterbourne & Lucas, heir of the Cortez cabal are getting married. This is one of the most interesting series of pre-wedding frustrations I’ve read: short story, but filled with fun scenes. I love how almost all the characters from the previous books gathered around the wedding. Savannah is adorable.
One thing I didn’t like in the story relates to my reading the short stories slightly out of order due to having borrowed this collection from the library, thus unable to hold it until I read the chronologically previous books. That’s how I now know an upsetting spoiler that occurred in one of the previous books that I really didn’t want to happen.
Footnote: 1) This story is in the ‘Tales of the Otherworld’ collection originally found on the author’s website. You can either read the main books first then go back and pick up the short bits and pieces or, like me, do them all in order and try to figure out who/what everybody is (and hope there’s no bad spoilers).
Fave scenes: Lucas’ wedding planner call, taking dad’s car and matchbooks x2.
Wedding Bell Hell is book 4.1, a short story in the Women of the Otherworld Series, that takes place after Industrial Magic. This story is about the hell of wedding planning.
Great short story, and all the potential problems, and the back up plan that was mentioned in terms of Benitio, and how it turns out for him to be the best man, and yeah, such a great short story, we really get to meet Lucas's mom, and that she still has the occasional thing with Lucas's dad. Such a great short story!
A cute story from Paige's POV set right after Industrial Magic featuring most of the cast of the series, including a very controlling Benicio, who manages to make Lucas and Paige's wedding preparations even more stressful.
3,5 stars for the story, but all the great cameos (and those expensive loafers under the bed) bumps it up to a 4.
This was the adorable story of Paige and Lucas getting married. Pretty much everything you wanted was in this one: Lucas making lists, Savannah changing things without asking, Lucas's father interfering at every turn, and all Paige's friends in attendance! This really was a fun read that just gave you all the good stuff and none of the bad. A must-read for Paige/Lucas fans!
A cute story about the stress of planning a wedding. Paige and Lucas are counting down the days to their wedding and trying to make all the decisions. It reminded me of the stress of my own wedding. It is well written and understandable for everyone either planning or who has planned a wedding.
A cute little story about Lucas and Paige's wedding. Not a whole lot of additional story here, the usual Lucas/Benicio conflict occuring during the lead up to Lucas and Paige's wedding. Read as part of Tales of the Otherworld.
I love anything Kelley Armstrong writes in the Otherworld series. These short stories give us more insight into character we may not know very well or revisit those we love. Paige and Lucas are wonderful together. I am happy we were able to experience this wonderful occasion with them.
