表題作の他、『妖服の如き切るもの』『巫死の如き甦るもの』『獣家の如き吸うもの』、さらに、これまで文庫化されていなかった『椅人の如き座るもの』を収録した中短篇集。

Premise: In the post-WWII Japan, a young man has just started writing and publishing detective novels, and then cops and fellow citizens began to ask him for advice to solve mysterious murder cases.
The first story is pretty decent, the explanation of murder mystery is fine, but the rest (characters, the murderer's motivation, etc) is just so-and-so. 3.2 stars.
The second story is doing better, it deals with a mysterious disappearance which takes place in a walled small village, it's your usual 'impossible crime' setting, and turns out the explanation is great! It's really difficult to guess how the disappearance was arranged. 4.5 stars
The third story, which is about a mysterious House of Beasts deep in the mountain, how it can trap visitors and it can change from being an one storey building to a two storey building within 5 minutes, it's a reaaaaaaaaalllly tricky story and the explanation is fine, I like it very much. 4.5 stars.
The fourth story takes place in the early days of the novelist's career, the story is neatly written and the explanation for the mystery is pretty good, but it is a bit disappointing that in the story. 3.8 to 4 stars.
If mind games and 'Impossible Crimes' are your things, go try this one!

四个短篇，是三三惯用的怪谈+刀城走近科学破案+怪谈式结尾结构。《妖服》和《兽家》是障眼法，《巫死》是“人间蒸发”，《魔偶》则是个小叙诡，都算是刀城的早年事迹，不过这四则怪谈的瘆人程度都不高。

四個短篇，各有趣味。三津田信三的寫作功力，比起初出道時真的提升了不少，除了第一篇外，其餘三篇的詭計精緻，也引人入勝。是本不錯的消閑讀物。

好看，詭計比如密室牢籠之物合理，但也有不少驚喜。最後一個故事比較長但不恐怖有點可惜，幸好解謎過程挺好玩。是三三擅長的多重推理+推翻。

這本是刀城言耶系列的4短篇集。
能看到刀城言耶與配角房東奶奶、編輯祖父江、刑警先生的有趣互動。
如妖服割裂之物-有怪談的成分，不過情節與手法有點扯。
最喜歡如巫死蘇生之物，這篇比起怪談更接近獵奇🫣很有記憶點
本書的時代背景在戰後復員歸來時期，有復員的角色就是忍不住會聯想到金田一耕助的獄門島。
書名那篇如魔偶攜來之物，有趣的地方是敘述性詭計，卍堂與家族糾紛是煙霧彈。
