Jesus Is Victor!

Rate this book
Tozer had a fresh perspective on Revelation -- instead of trying to interpret the various events, he looks at the underlying spiritual lessons. The basic truth of Revelation is that Jesus is victor and the central message of prophecy is repentance. Lucid and insightful exposition of a sometimes puzzling book.

Aiden Wilson Tozer was an American evangelical pastor, speaker, writer, and editor. After coming to Christ at the age of seventeen, Tozer found his way into the Christian & Missionary Alliance denomination where he served for over forty years. In 1950, he was appointed by the denomination's General Council to be the editor of "The Alliance Witness" (now "Alliance Life").

Born into poverty in western Pennsylvania in 1897, Tozer died in May 1963 a self-educated man who had taught himself what he missed in high school and college due to his home situation. Though he wrote many books, two of them, "The Pursuit of God" and "The Knowledge of the Holy" are widely considered to be classics.

A.W. Tozer and his wife, Ada Cecelia Pfautz, had seven children, six boys and one girl.

Aceast lucrare de mântuire a trebuit infăptuit in felul in care lucrurile sunt înfăptuite in ceruri. Acesta este motivul pentru care spun cã, in calitate de crestini, am descoperit cã, indiferent ce va face Hristos Leul pentru a-si supune lumea, va face datoritã a ceea ce a făcu deja ca Miel al lui Dumnezeu.”

As a collection of Tozer's sermons on Revelation, this is what you would call devotional literature. Any thoughtful Christian should be able to glean benefit from this book. That said, however, here are what I think are the most important things you need to know about before you decide whether or not to invest your time in it:

1. Tozer comes from a futurist perspective on revelation
2. Tozer approaches the symbology of revelation literally, though he gives it basically no airtime
3. It's a series of observations, or meditations more than anything. Exegetically, it is not robust.

I read three chapters and decided that there were other books I should be investing in, but I am sure that some have and will benefit from this.

Should be considered “required reading” for all followers of Yeshua. Aidan Wilson Tozer unearthed many a gem during his pilgrimage on earth. This book contains plenty of them.

This book was compiled from all of the existing sermons that Tozer presented on the book of Revelation. I am a big fan of A.W. Tozer and have yet to find one of his works to disappoint, and this book was no exception. Unfortunately this book only cover the first ten chapters of Revelation, due to the remaining tape having been lost through the years. I would recommend this book and ask that if you have a box of old tapes from you grandparents era, please check to see if the rest of this sermon series is present.
