In Nekota City, Inukai and his team of vigilantes known as "Grasshopper" protect the citizens from a rising crime wave and the greedy hands of businessmen bent on turning every block into a modern strip mall. But is this public hero actually a devil in disguise? And can high school student Ando use his mysterious power of "ventriloquism" to uncover the truth before it's too late?
As Ando continues to try to uncover Inukai's plans, Grasshopper prepares for a major event to take control of the city. And just when Ando gets close to the truth, standing in his way is the most dangerous challenge he's ever faced.
Do I care the school grasshopper died? Nope. I think out of all of them, including Inukai, he was the one that pissed me off the most. The fact that he was fuel on the fire was annoying. Think people. Think.
Ando knew what was going to happen, or at least a feeling of it. It’s sad that Junya might’ve had an inkling too and that was their last meeting. This series really fucks with the heart.
I can’t tell who is worse Inukai or the bartender. Inukai I suppose would’ve let Ando run around, after all he needs a rival and the litmus test isn’t done. The bartender though, he’s okay with killing a kid in the most brutal way possible. It was an epic showdown though, one that lasted many pages of aaaaaaaaaaaahs. Ando won that and now it’s time to take on the big bad. This is going to hurt. Onwards.

I really love this series! I started it a while ago, and now I'm finishing it (I promised myself I'd now finish a bunch of series I fell off with before).
I love the premise of this series - A lone protagonist against a person who's swept up all of the people around them into a mob-minded swarm. I see a lot of almost-Grasshopper-like attitudes in real life around me. But I feel like if someone were to show this series to a person who acts like this, their reaction would be like Ando's friend was when Ando tried to point out the similarity between their situation and the Miyazawa book. That said, I do like reading the series more because of this element of the plot. I also really like the style of the art. The character designs are... well, I can see why some people don't like that "everyone dresses ten times cooler/ more VK than in real life" look, but... I sort of do, actually. At least the way it's done with this. I can see how it would be the last straw causing me to put down something if I didn't like the writing too much.
This is a very exciting volume. Things are building up to a vital showdown between Ando and Inukai. The Grasshoppers have become widespread throughout the city now and Ando has very few people he can trust left. Ando's life is in danger again as the enemy tries to take him out before Inukai's next public meeting with which he intends to take over the city. This assassin is the worst he has had to face yet.
As said, an exciting volume. The action is almost totally centred on Ando and his problems. Inukai is only shown briefly as the force behind the secret plot that the Grasshopper's are setting up with the upcoming meeting. There is the death of a recurring character. This was a fast read for me as the action was non-stop from the beginning. The end advertising pages let us know that the next volume will wrap up this story arc, which, of course, makes me eager to read the next volume. This will not be the end of the series though.
I'm going to stop reading this series here I think, at least for the foreseeable future. The writing is feeling really repetitive to me, with Ando seemingly going through the same struggle regarding his involvement in each volume, and with the same kind of events being resolved in similar ways in each volume. The action is flashy and exciting, but not in a way that has me truly worried about the characters, or that makes me keen to see what will happen next. Some pacing issues are definitely evident, as I feel more about what's 'really going on' should've been revealed or more heavily hinted at by now. The scenes centred around the range of people's abilities in this volume didn't make much sense to me either. I may finish this series eventually, but it's not a priority.
A rousing battle that is both action stuffed and cerebral… I really enjoy this series. There were times where Osuga's art was filled with action lines but not concrete details which led to confusion, but overall this is a top notch manga.
