Pooh, a well-known bear of little brain, admires Rabbit's sunflowers and decides to plant some of his own. But in spite of Piglet's and Roo's help, the seeds somehow end up in Poh's honey pot instead of in the ground. Pooh's friends save the day, and loveable pooh ends up with big yellow flowers that are smart enough to turn themselves toward the sun.

Pooh is impressed with Rabbit's sunflowers, so Rabbit gives him some seeds to make his own garden. As I've seen in numerous other Pooh books, he is a crap gardener, but he takes things to a whole new level here as he disdainfully takes a nap while Piglet does all the hard work and yet still manages to muck it all up in the end.

Overlong and frustrating, and the art seems a little out of sync with the story even if it is mostly cute.

(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. How many is that? I’m going to count them this year by reading and reviewing one every day and seeing which month I finally run out. Track my progress here:

In this volume Pooh decides to plant a garden. The other inhabitants of the hundred acre wood show up and help out with everything from weed pulling to plowing and planting. The only problem is, Pooh forgets to plant the seeds, so nothing ever grows. Rabbit saves the day by donating his own already grown plants from his garden to the cause, and the friends dub it the friendship garden.

This book is great for preschoolers! It introduces topics like planting seeds and gardening. The book also talks a lot about sunflowers and how they face the fun. It also had the classic spin of Winnie the Pooh wanting honey. The pictures are great although the story is a little too long for a classroom sitting in my opinion.

It discusses gardens, what they need, and that they require hard work. It highlights sunflowers, which is a great way to start gardening with kids. It makes me want to get out there and plant my garden! LOL
