So good! You get such a feel of the changing times. One entry is the saddest thing I've ever read in my life. It will always stick with me. An amazing journal!

Fantastic! I loved this diary. It gave a much deeper understanding of life for women during the late 1800s. The whole time you’re reading, you’re living it with Martha.

Amazing collection of 40 years worth of journal keeping. It was fun to see how much had changed (moving by wagon train... in winter... while 8 months pregnant!) and how much hadn't (her boy-crazy teen years & fighting with her stepmom). Perfect book to read in little one-to-two-year snippets as I did.

Interesting but left me with more questions than answers. I found I wanted more information from people who knew her.

Although this woman suffered many disappointments in life and ended her life childless, I found this diary very interesting.
