Rate this book
After a lifetime by each other's side, two sisters will separate for the first time, forced to survive in an increasingly deadly world.

Violin, searching for her younger sister, goes to the only place she truly understands: home. But she soon discovers her community held secrets, and a mysterious new villain with a changing face wants the truth to come out.

Candlestick embarks on a journey where she makes new friends, and faces forces of evil darker than she could ever imagine. With a growing power inside her, Candlestick will learn whether she has what it takes to survive on her own.

Separately, the sisters learn that the past is catching up to them, and it may be the key to their future.

In this sequel to the hit debut Winter's Myths, the legends grow wilder, the action more intense, and the darkness more horrific. Will Violin and Candlestick reunite before it's too late? Can they survive a world colluding against them? Can they survive their history?

What a ride! I loved the charm of the first book, but this one takes on a much darker tone and I’m here for it. It was great getting to see more of Winter’s daughters and watch them evolve from the first book. If you enjoyed the first book, what are you waiting for?

If you’ve already read Winter’s Myths by Gage Greenwood then you already know what you’re getting into with Winter’s Legacy, just expect a whole lot MORE of it. MORE apocalyptic survival, MORE monsters, MORE Kevin Bacon and his merry band of demigods, and MORE death. If you haven't read the first book yet, then what are you waiting for? With new storytellers in the mix for book 2, the interludes take some interesting turns and just when you think Gage has about lost his damn mind, everything starts to fall into place like a puzzle you didn’t even know you were putting together.

Do you know that feeling when you see something spectacular like The Grand Canyon for the first time? Okay.
Now…do you remember what it feels like when you put a warm blanket fresh from the dryer around yourself when it’s chilly?
Alright.
These two feelings (among many others) are what Winter’s world feel like to me.
In the follow up to Winter’s Myths, Winter’s Legacy we fall back into this magical, unique, harrowing and sometimes fearsome world with gusto.
Winter’s Legacy is a horror/fantasy/thriller mashup that spins golden threads of stories about hope, fear, belonging, identity, family and loss.
It combines that basic human urge to survive and thrive with so much spectacular mythology and lore.
Please read it!
I enjoyed it so much and look forward to any subsequent books in this series.

After finishing Winter’s Myths, I waited anxiously for the release of book 2 and hoped it would be at least as good as the first. I was not disappointed.

The author does a fantastic job tackling multiple POVs and giving each character their own unique voice. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing where the characters journeyed, the mischief and mayhem they all got into, and had quite a bit of anxiety at the end (there was so much going on in the last few chapters). I also enjoyed the new additions to the tales, as well as how everything was woven together in such a way that it all came together beautifully.

There were a few times in the story where I was a bit confused. The author does such a wonderful job of tying all of the pieces together and tying up loose ends, that by the end of the story, my only question was, so what happens next?

I loved that each of Winter’s daughters got their own story here, and were able to bloom and develop their own personalities apart from family. It was definitely a darker book compared to the first, with more murder and mayhem.

Ultimately this one felt more slow in pace, the “stories” within the story felt forced and I was kind of over adding celebrities to them. Not 100% sure, but I’ll probably still read the next book in the series as I do like the characters!

Thank you to the author for a copy to read and review!

Violin and Candlestick are back but separated. Violin desperately trying to find her sister while Candlestick is on a journey of self discovery with the past catching up to them.

This is book two in the Winter's Myths series, both books are 5 star reads for me. A mix of horror and dark fantasy but also so much more, I feel like they belong in a genre all of its own.

While reading your heart will race, you'll read faster as you root for some characters, you'll laugh a lot but you'll get choked up at times, you'll catch yourself scratching your head and wondering who writes this kind of madness and it turns out to be THIS good. Hats off to Gage Greenwood.

This series is an book equivalent of a rollercoaster. You will ride the hills of this complex story and the loops of all your emotions and once the ride is over you'll wish more than anything to be able to experience it again as for the first time. Instead you'll have a snapped a photo of the story saved in your memory that you will find yourself going back to and thinking about time and time again.

Saying I love this series is an understatement, this is one of my all time favourites.

A great continuation of Winter’s Myths, picking up where it ended. The fantastical journey continues, as do the stories. The World is still a hot mess and the gods are still fighting. We learn more about the characters stories, as the other stories continue to be told. Looking forward to seeing where this goes in the 3rd installment. Definitely a 5-star, just like Winter’s Myths. Grab it soon, or grab them both!

Winter's Legacy is the second installment in the post-apocalyptic saga of Winter and his two daughters. It jumps right in where Winter's Myths left off and ka-pow! The themes are original and complex. The stories told are dark and terrifying. The battles are epic.
It's an action-packed deep dive into the psyche of each character, old and new ( and there are plenty of new, bad-ass characters to love)!
WL will make you laugh, squirm, and scratch your head. Most of all, it will leave you wanting more!

O. M. G! I couldn't hope this will be better than Winter's Myths, but it is! It is a crazy ride, the switching back and forth between characters and see the world through totally different eyes. That is absolutely amazing. It has laughter, it has emotion, it has suspense, blood, heartbreak, pain and death! It has it all! Including my "anger" toward the author because I have been left with so many open wounds and now I have to wait so long until the next book.

The fact that I thought there was no way the second installment of the series could get any crazier or more bizarre— I was so wrong in the best way.

Winter’s Legacy, the follow up to the incredible genre-bending Winter’s Myths is packed with high fantasy elements, a bit more horror, more action and adventure, a ton of dystopian feels, more demigods, and so many more incredible myths… that may or may not be myths at all.

And we have new storytellers! If you’ve made it this far in the series, you understand just how important a story truly is, and in Winter’s Legacy, storytelling drives the plot forward. The stories are bigger, better, and outrageously wild. Right when you begin to feel like Gage is taking you into the deepest realms of fantastical insanity— everything clicks, making perfect sense.

This time around, the story follows our two favorite sisters— Violin and Candlestick, who have been separated from each other in this crazed world. While the sisters desperately search for one another, the reader gets to embark on these two separate journeys, too— flipping between both girls. And on these expeditions we meet new friends and new enemies, discover family secrets, greater threats, and more magic powers. And if you want more of the lampposts and husks, they’re definitely in book two! Candlestick’s power has grown incredibly since Winter’s Myths.

And we get a ton more of our favorite human duo— Brian and Corey! Which I just loved. Thank you.

What an incredible story from an author who pours everything into his writing. He even pours himself into it, since he makes the silliest cameo in Winter’s Legacy! It’s always a good time reading a Gage Greenwood novel, and I cannot wait to see what’s next.

Another well deserved 5 star rating from one of my favorites! Dig in, people. This series is everything.

I just finished Winter’s Legacy and would like to describe my experience for you, knowing that I’ve already failed. The most earnest approach I have is the following series of questions…
Do you like post apocalyptic sagas like The Last of Us?
Did you like Winter’s Myths?
Do you like reading about unique monsters?
Are you tickled by fourth-wall breaking?
Ever seen The Neverending Story (or read that book)?
Do you appreciate crazy, seemingly-random yet carefully-orchestrated multiversal shenanigans ala Everything Everywhere All At Once, or all them sooper hero movies?
If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these, I’m confident you’ll enjoy this book.
If you answered ‘no’ to every one of those, I’m still pretty sure you’ll like it, and 100% sure you’ll like Gage Greenwood if you follow him online anywhere he hangs out, or if you meet him in person.
In sum, please give this book a shot because the world needs more stories like it and more people like Gage.

I honestly didn’t believe the reviews that said this book was better than the first installment, Winter’s Myths. But it 100% was! The stories being told by the characters seemed to be unrelated but were interwoven beautifully. This book crosses so many genres that there is absolutely something for everyone.

My obsession with this book (and series) is borderline unhealthy. I really tried to imagine how the stories would connect after finishing Winter's Myths, but it was impossible. I didn't see it coming! The tales in Winter's Legacy were told in such an organized chaos; it was orchestrated so beautifully. There wasn't a single part of this book that didn't have me completely wrapped up. I didn't want this book to end so badly that I divided it up into parts and only allowed myself to read a portion each day so it would last longer. I actually got chills multiple times reading this one, and I'm sick that I have to wait so long for S3!

Gods, humans, Lion and crew are back... love some, hate some. Plus there are new stories and new characters, including Elvis and Gaga! It's wild, it's intense, it's emotional, it's dark, it's macabre, it's bloody, it's confusing (so many questions!) There is A LOT going on here, so hang on for a fantastical ride!

How on Planet Earth do you review a book like Winter's Legacy? It's even harder than it was to review its predecessor, Winter's Myths. Gage Greenwood must have written these books inside a fever dream - they are just that insane. They are also brilliant. And as much as he blew my mind with Myths, Legacy took it to next level madness and chaos. It had me desperately trying to keep up for most of the book, just to deliver a death blow in the closing pages. I didn’t even know that I had been collecting all of these little tidbits along the way to drop beautifully into a genius end-game that made it all perfectly, maddeningly clear. He must have reverse engineered this story. I would LOVE to know how it all went down on paper. It gave me the same slap to the face that the ending of The Last House on Needless Street did. With both of these books, the silent but deadly machinations at work under the surface are just catching all things and constructing them into an intricate mindf*ck. I read it on Kindle months ago, and then couldn’t resist having a second go on Audible. I wanted to try to pay closer attention to the story construction, knowing now what I didn’t know the first time around, and I STILL found myself dumbfounded by how it ended up where it did. Also, kudos to the narrator – she was fantastic. And I really loved her character voices. I really can hardly wait for the next book in the series!

Nooo!! The story cannot end there Gage!!!

Winters Legacy, the sequel to the glorious Winters Myths picks up the story soon after the end of the first tale, detailing the aftermath of previous events. Candlestick and Violin divert into two separate stories which you know must come crashing together again in Book 3

The world Gage Greenwood has created is filled with magic, humour, horror, mystery and fantasy, and plumbs the depths of human emotions through love, loss, affection, sorrow, guilt and despair. The stories within the story are deep, connected and filled with vivid images and complex characters, which makes this such a joy to read.

I genuinely had doubts that anything would live up to the wonderfully imaginative Winters Myths.......however Winters Legacy surpassed it and I am eager for Book 3

The sequel to "Winter's Myths", and wow I didn't expect to feel as I did reading this. Winter was my favorite character, but reading this book quickly made me fond of Candlestick. The range of emotions I went through... I was sad, I was shocked, I was SPOOKED, I was amused, and I was surprised. Everything you want to feel while reading this mixed genre, you will feel it! Still a survival story with villains, "good guys" with moral dilemmas, character exploration and growth, scenes that make your heart drop, and so much more. I love that Gage added even more celebrity characters. Admittedly, I love Lady Gaga, and she makes her appearance in this one! If you've read both the first book and this one, Gage has got you hooked. And you'll likely be unable to let go of these stories.

Wonderful taking to new level of imagination

I like Winter's Myth so purchased Winter's Legacy & I took right decision. It took imagination on new heights. It seem like some rollar coaster at beginning what I feel right suddenly look wrong. Those changes which show entire concept of life in different way. Life which seem simple in first one suddenly seem so complicated & darker side of life introduced in interesting way. But during entire story I like the way writer made clear that darker side doesn't benefit just get punishment in different way. I am so excited & now waiting for next one. Curious what will happen next.

Another great, crazy, roller coaster ride of a story!! So many ups and downs and twists and turns. I got choked up more than once having gotten attached to certain characters. Definitely more gore in this one as the story is growing and evolving Gage Greenwood is killing me with his cliffhanger endings! A good message I got from his story though is “Remember to not just survive but to live”. Can’t wait for the next book! And if you haven’t already, you need to join in with the Gagents of Chaos and read this series!

Not what I expected

I tore through the first book in this series. But this one was much harder to make myself read. it wasnt bad exactly. The writing was just as good. The tone was darker and the quirkiness of book one wasn't so much missing as made secondary to a darker story. I wanted to finish to see if it got better but it didn't. I am not sure if I am going to finish the series.

Winter's Legacy was a great follow up to Myths, I will say trying to follow all the different stories in the middle part of the book was sometimes difficult, but man did it come together in the end! I loved this story but really the only reason this wasn't 5 starts was because of trying to keep up with all of the characters. It's well worth it as things come together in the end though. Thanks Gage and when is the next one coming?!

So so soooo good. I NEED more. If the story doesn't continue, I may cry..
It's such an unorthodox version of a post apocalypse story. It digs in and doesn't let go until you've finished! The character development is so good, and the storytelling within the story being told is like nothing I've ever read before!

Too imaginary not believable.

Not a bad story. A bit strange and weird to start with. Wasn't going to continue it at first but kept going . Totally unhappy about the ending in book two. The story doest feel finished. Didn't really like all the swapping and changing with the stories of everyone, got a bit bored with them. Not really my kind of book. Too imaginary for me.

I loved Winter's Myths. This one seemed to drag on a bit too much for me. I LOVED the way it ended, though. Gage has a way of making everything come together. I will definitely be reading season three.

Loved

I loved this book as much as I loved book one. I especially loved the unique character names and all of the stories that everyone told. I enjoy Gage Greenwood's imaginative writing and I'm anticipating more much more from this author.

Oh my Kevin Bacon! I feel so sad I finished this novel as the main characters speak to me so deeply! I love all of them really and I've become so fond of Brian and Corey, whilst Violin and Candlestick reminds me of me and my sister and many aspects of their characters do reflect me and my sister as well which makes it so relatable!

I do love the complexity of the world created by Gage Greenwood and how the apparently incomprehensible plot converges into a story that not only makes sense but that it invokes some philosophical reflection as well.

But at the same time this book is so full of humour and surprises that it never gets boring but it compels you to read more and more!

I already miss the feeling I had whilst reading this book and as Candlestick mentioned, I wish I could capture the way I felt whilst journeying into the stories created by Gage Greenwood, so to savour it when needed.

I can compare this series to a kaleidoscope with the colours as the stories and as the characters, so complex and yet beautiful and magical.
I really recommend this book to everyone and I can't wait for the next season!
