In terms of American lives lost, the war between the states was the most costly in the history of our country. Over a half million were killed. Countless others were wounded or maimed. Untold numbers of lives were shattered by loss of homes and farms, and by poverty and repression. It was among the cruelest and most needless wars ever waged. This is a story of three Southern youths who ran away from home to embark on what they saw as a grand and glorious adventure, not knowing that they were about to sacrifice their youth and innocence upon the altar of a bitter struggle to protect their way of life and the glory of the Confederacy.
