Modern-day feminism and the decline of solid Bible teaching in churches have left many women confused or unaware of God's high calling for their lives. Though the world changes, God's priorities have not. In Titus 2:3-5, the apostle Paul reveals the value God places upon a woman's character, her relationships, and her home. In God's Priorities for Today's Woman, popular Bible teacher Lisa Hughes explains and illustrates each priority that Paul describes, empowering Christian women to grow in their understanding of God and of what He considers important gain assurance they are living the life God desires them to live be equipped to grow in each priority area learn how to minister more effectively to other women God's Priorities for Today's Woman will equip women of all ages to grow in godly living. Study questions effective for individual or small group use are included at the end of each chapter.
This is one of those books I read very early on as a new believing wife and so considered it “elementary knowledge”. I’m discovering now that when something feels “simple” or “elementary “ I’ve probably grown forgetful or complacent to the weight and value of that thing, as was the case with this book.
I found myself being convicted of sins that have hidden under the guise of good intentions for many years and for that I give the book 5 stars. ⭐️
I’m grateful to God that though we grow and change and become distracted with many things, his word and will for us does not change and when we revisit the “elementary” truths of the gospel and his word we will find ourselves anchored once again and our courses corrected.
I wish I would’ve read this book at 1, 5, and 10 years as a wife and mother but even 14 years later I’ve gleaned much needed encouragement and precious conviction. I only wish the book would have expanded more about principles implied though not explicitly stated in Titus 2 such as women’s friendships, roles in the church, and homes as a place of ministry. A lot of the principles can be applied to this area and some were touched on with a brief sentence or two so I don’t feel it was insufficient in that regard. Overall this was a short and practical read worth revisiting.
Great book with practical implications on how to live as Godly women in today's society where God's Word is no longer heeded and despised as irrelevant or no longer applicable in addressing current cultural issues. God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He never changes and so His Word stays the same.
This book has so many teachings that create the kind of culture that would keep an abused woman in her abusive relationship. All the discussion that came out of reading this book also was that kind of culture. It might sound really good, but I don't think people realize the implications of a lot of these kinds of things. Please read with caution.
After reading this book with a group of ladies from my church I can honestly say it is a life changing read. To dig deeper into the Titus 2 model of womanhood was so encouraging. I would recommend this book to any woman who desires to grow in her walk with God, and to do so along side other women, if you can! I’m sure I will revisit this book in the future.
