The only reason I read this book was because I read Hill Harper reccommended it and that Will Smith wanted to turn it into a movie. It is based on a stage play and I must say ....it isn't that great. It was a quick read, easy dialogue but the characters were unoriginal and so were the plots. Felt like a conversation any of us have had with our girlfriends but it wasn't eye opening nor did it provide anything extra that a regular gal pow session I have does. I have no problem with the usual chick lit type of novels (I love them in fact) but the key is to add something else in there for entertainment, surprise or a perspective I've not thought of. There was just nothing original and I could see the endings for each character coming a mile away. It was part of the reason I read this book so quickly, to confirm my suspicions. I even skimmed over some paragraphs, not good.

I wonder if it's because the writer was male but I've read too many authors who are good at writing outside their own box. This writing was more in line with a Tyler Perry type of story and perhaps thats why it may be so sucessful popularity wise. There is a great market for it. I'd just like to read more novels with African American's that aren't so sterotypical. Sorry Mr. Welch...

I picked this book up because of the colorful cover.
Ok. I'm just being honest!
It was not at all what I was expecting. I was very surprised by the story line and the plot. Instead of being a neck rolling type of book, it was a great story of triumphs, disappointment and friendship that is often tested.
I will say that the way it was written it seems like a sequel will follow.
I read this one in 1 day flat.

Confused

This book was good enough to keep your attention, yet boring as ever. Very pointless read. I didn't understand the point of the book. Seemed as if we introduced characters for 212 pages.

This bookwas OK. I read it in oe itting (BUT, it's only so thick to begin with). I don't think there was a lot of room for character development. But all in all, not a bad read.
