Deadly Ambition

Rate this book
President Tim Connors is slipping badly in the polls and doesn’t stand a chance of being re-elected. Chief of Staff Arthur Locke blames the First Lady, abrasive feminist Congresswoman Rachel Connors. Locke thinks he has the solution. Wouldn’t it be easier to re-elect a handsome, grieving widower? When his plan to assassinate the President’s wife goes terribly wrong, Locke sets in motion a chain of events that could allow him eventually to place himself in the presidency. Hired assassin Vincent Chambers tells Locke, “Killing a president is easy. Getting away with it is the hard part.” Locke’s wife, Elaine, discovers his plan to kill Rachel and vows to stop him, even if she has to kill the man she once loved with all her heart. Washington D.C. is crawling with ambitious characters. There’s the randy Vice-President Dennis Quinn, whose trysts with underage girls make plenty of copy for the tabloids, the slovenly head of the DNC, Arnold Combs, who doesn’t really care who wins, as long as it’s a Democrat, the Assistant Chief of Staff, Ralph Mason, who’s so head over heels in debt that murder for money seems a logical way out. Secret Service Special Agent Jason Hall, along with the FBI, the CIA, and Arlington Chief of Police Tom Reilly, all sort through the scarce clues, but will any of them find the solution in time to prevent another murder?

Yes it was Deadly Ambition.

Psychopath, narcissists person with hunger for power. Nothing could stop him from what he wants, even arranging those persons to be killed. Love and understanding between husband and wife under enormous pressure woven in this story. Also all the Secret service personal and how they do jobs.
But in this age, their is no phones you can dial, let's quit using this saying "dialing the phone or dialed the wrong number."

Political Greatness

This political drama grabbed me from the first sentence. It continued to keep me intrigued throughout the entire story. The brave characters were so brave I thought they were nuts . Rachel Elaine showed a determination that I'm sure I would not be able to pull off. Usually I'm not a fan of political novels but this was awe inspiring with a wonderful self deserved ending. ENJOY.

abrasive, aggressive first lady advises her husband...wonder who this character is supposed to be? in a botched attempt on the first lady, the president is killed. by a fluke, she's appointed vice president and takes over when her husband's successor is forced to resign. but is the assassin still trying to kill her and why? amusing.

Fast paced, well written, great plot

Different genres, same great skills in creating and holding interest right from the get-go. Loved it being a female president, especially that she was a well qualified one.

Love in the white house

This is a well written story centering around life in the white house. Although it's focus is on the attempted assassination of a president, telling that story also provides an insight into what life lived in the white house is like. I recommend the book to anyone who enjoys reading a good mystery or likes to fool around with politics.
