Edgar Cayce: Modern Prophet: Edgar Cayce on Prophecy; Religion and Psychic Experience; Mysteries of the Mind; Reincarnation

Rate this book
One of America's most amazing psychics, Edgar Cayce was gifted with a unique clairvoyance. During periods of so-called "sleep," he was able to diagnose illness, often in people he had never met, and then to prescribe medical treatment. With no formal medical training, Cayce healed thousands of people who had previously tried conventional medicine without success.

This omnibus volume contains four separate books about Edgar Cayce's extraordinary abilities and their far-reaching implications for the psychic world and the millennium.

Edgar Cayce on Prophecy explores the major prophecies and predictions of the great clairvoyant. This volume covers Cayce's feelings about his gift and how he used it in his own life; his predictions of individuals regarding both physical and spiritual events; his theories on evolution; his reliance on dreams; his prophecies regarding the New Age; and unusual facts about the rising of Atlantis.

Edgar Cayce on Religion and Psychic Experience shows how religious faith can develop psychic powers. The psychic information Cayce received in trances appeared to supplement the teachings of the Bible without contradiction.

Edgar Cayce on Mysteries of the Mind examines Cayce's revelations about human consciousness and the enormous role his insights can play in everyday life.

Edgar Cayce on Reincarnation uses as primary source material 2,500 of Cayce's own readings. This work unveils the hidden reality we all live with--reincarnation.

The four volumes selected for Edgar Cayce: Modern Prophet constitute a fascinating and comprehensive sourcebook on one of the greatest psychics of all time.

A lot of proselytizing, unfortunately. Guess in those days if you didn't include plenty of Jesus and godly references, they'd consider it devilish. We don't require hearing about Jesus to believe something.

Also, it appears this book was rehashed and summarized by the "co-author." I found it much more interesting--in other books--to read directly from the spirits, in their words.

This is a book about other books, so it's a big, fat summary.

The tone of the narration is so condescending. I'd love to read a different book about Cayce, as long as it's by someone who isn't talking to me like I'm a child! There are others at the library so I'll get another one next time.

This book was recommended to me by my grandfather, who is an avid comparative world religions scholar. I read this with an open mind; that being said, do I think the contents of this book are true? I'm not sure. And, in reading this, I'm not sure it matters: if Cayce's words comfort you, that's great. If not, that's great, too.

I read this out of sheer curiosity. My grandfather spoke often of Cayce and I wanted to know more about the man that inspired such fascination in my grandfather. I found that Cayce offers an "eye-for-an-eye" karmic world: what you do to others affects you, even if not during this life. This offers a reason for why terrible things happen to people who don't seem to deserve it, like the death of a small child. This reason may soothe some people; I think it suggests, perhaps, a somewhat vindictive God, who would wait until a "bad person" reached their next life before seeking vengeance on a seemingly-innocent person. It gives a rhyme and reason to the random, often luck-based, events of life. The system is interesting, as are Cayce's other views as explored in this volume.

This is a good read for people who want to know more about Cayce or the New Age movement. People who are questioning their own faith - and therefore reading up on alternative religions - may find this interesting as well.

This book is an amazing journey through the mind both subconscious and conscious. It discusses very articulatley abstract ideas, such as reincarnation, dreams, the law of attraction, hypnosis, past lives, psychics, and phrophecy. It expanded my mind to think about things in a whole new way and I would definitley recomend this book.

If you don't know about Edgar Cayce, this is a great book that will explain the phenomenal man and what he did. Cayce was an extraordinary person and even he didn't quite understand the amazing things he could do.

Ok, admittedly, I only read half of this book. After about 270 pages I decided I couldn't take the confusing, poor quality of writing anymore. It's really too bad because I think Edgar Cayce is fascinating, but his biographers here did him a disservice in their writing style.
