This is a great book that discusses more of the emotional aspect of being a new mum. It doesn't talk as much about sleep schedules or feeding, etc., but focuses on how to deal with the massive change that baby brings, including your body, getting out of the house, etc. This would be very beneficial to read after the baby is born. Each chapter includes a few questions at the end to help you determine your emotional health in those areas.
This book fell into my lap when my daughter was 3 weeks old. What a gem! This book helped me immensely. This is less how-to and more of how-to-figure-out-what's-right-for-you. It should be a confidence booster for any new mom.
I came away with some very good thoughts. This was a quick lighthearted read. I did skip 2 chapters, one on being a working mom and the other on PPD (I know it’s a thing I just didn’t want to feed my mind with those thoughts). I laughed out loud at some of the stories too. Great book, and the chapters are short! It is not an in-depth baby-care manual if that’s what you’re expecting, it touches briefly on lots of aspects of motherhood though and gives some practical tips. I definitely liked the emphasis on keeping marriage first, and the spiritual side to the book was a nice surprise!
I ordered this book 2 years when I had our 1st daughter. Just finished reading it for the 2nd time. Book reminded me that not every mother is perfect even if you had your 2nd or 3rd child. As new mothers we put so much pressure on our selves and it doesn't have to be that way. This book brought me peace when was stressed out. I highly recommend this book to all mothers out there.
Definitely geared more for the stay at home moms, but an excellent read for any new mom. it was like counseling in a book. I am so glad i started reading this book right after my baby was born. it was exactly what I needed. I felt like someone was having a conversation with me and leading me through the difficulties that new moms face. Loved this book. So candid and refreshing to read.
Not the most informative or in-depth. However, I really enjoyed the short chapters, the topics covered, and the in-put from other women. Worth a read if you aren't looking for something like 'What to Expect..'
A lot of practical advice for all aspects of life with baby, from the basics of baby care to the emotional challenges a new mom faces and the way her relationships with others change. Good advice on maintaining a strong marriage in the midst of all the chaos.
