Alta Hensley is a NYT & USA Today bestselling author of dark romance where the villain always gets the happily ever after.

Twisted, clever, and occasionally unhinged, her books deliver morally gray anti-heroes, sharp-tongued heroines, and happily ever afters that taste even sweeter after a little ruin. With a signature blend of grit, wit, and heat, Alta’s stories prove one thing: Villains deserve love too.

Alta lives on the foggy coast of Oregon with her husband, two daughters, and a pair of dogs who think they’re in charge. When she’s not writing redemption for the irredeemable, she’s walking the coastline or sipping craft beer in eccentric little bars that feel like they belong in her books.

Recommended for: fans of steamy novels
Edition: Kindle

I found on the Kindle Store for free and so I thought I would give it a try. I thought that this was a really well written trio that kept hold of my attention, I wouldn't recommend that young readers read this as there are so quite steamy parts in it, it will definately get you abit under the coller. If hot cowboys are your kind of thing that you should definately give this book a read! It makes you want to go to Texas straight away especially if the males are like they are in this book. It is one that will get you drawn into the adventure and the characters as they are very well describe and add good depth to it.

This is going to be my first Ever Angel/Devil Review... I think its a good idea because I enjoy reading and reviewing and sometimes you need a little bit of Angel/Devil in order to even it all out.

Deep in the Heart of Texas is the story of three women, who take a little mini break from their everyday lives in order to experience Ranch life. Each women gets to have their own journey while on this ranch.

As this is my first ever Angel/Devil review I guess I should explain exactly what that means. The Angel part of the review is the sweet goody goodness, where as the Devil part of the review is some things that I as the reader could have done with out. Every reader is different and that is a good thing, hell its a great thing otherwise the world would be boring... With that being said I would also like to tell you that I gave each book their own separate rating and then did the average... The average is really like a 3.5 but of course GoodReads doesn't allow that.

Alright on to the review....

Tempted in Texas by Alta Hensley...

Angel: I enjoyed the over all jist of the story, Sophia a workaholic running her own business and learning how to take everything a bit slower and enjoy herself. Deacon seemed to know her from the start, and it was nice how he made the adjustments to the program to better suit the needs of Sophia... The relationship that unfolded between them was very warm and inviting. Having a man build a house from the ground up and then wanting you to fill it with your touch to make the house a home, yeah I really dug that. My favorite part of the book is when Deacon is gone for the day building the white picket fence around his house. That was stellar!

Devil: Deacon did not strike me as your typical Dom, he was a tad bit too accommodating in that aspect. I would not call him Dominating, so he likes to spank and tie you up, and he's old fashion but again there was equal measure in the relationship as far as their sexual roles. So in my book Deacon was kinky. He started off strong in the beginning and then he just went in another less Dominant direction. The conflict in the story was good but I would have liked to have read a bit more about that (maybe as a back story) we see Sophia being apprehensive but we don't get exactly why until the end of the story.

Angel/Devil: Over all it was an good read the sex scenes were hot and the relationship between Deacon and Sophia was definitely heading in the right direction....

Deep in the Heart of Texas the men go all the way!

Tamed in Texas by Amy le Blan

Angel: I was pleasantly surprised when I got to this book because wow wasn't expecting sandwich time... I know I'm silly but I have to tell you I truly enjoyed the story. I kept reading and reading and did not want the story to end. Maggie the journalist gets paired with not one but two cowboys! HOLY MAG PIE SANDWICH! Well not quite a magpie sandwich but you get the logistics of where I am going with this. One of my favorite parts of this story is when they both help her down off the horse. When I read that the first thing that came to mind was IT'S GOING DOOOWNNN! Yeah say it just like that!

Devil: I was conflicted with Maggie at first because I thought the trip was suppose to be two weeks, yet she was trying to bail in like three days! Who does that to their friends, and why were on that subject how come the three of them never ran into each other up at the main house? Was dinner like three separate times that first day? Food for thought. I needed more description of the men I only got a brief overview.

Angel/Devil: Overall this story was Great! I enjoyed it from beginning to end my Devil hang ups were just that hang ups easily over looked and didn't stop me from reading the story...

Deep in the Heart of Texas the men come in twos!

Taken in Texas by Melissa Ecker

Angel: Drake and Payton's story was down to earth and real for me. Their situations were that of a real couple. I've read Melissa's Seduction in Memory Grove Series and just like in those she puts it all out on the table. Payton the standoffish cop who's cute and feels she needs to man up and be on guard all the time. Drake playa playa and openly admits to it. It was a great combo and My favorite part of this story is at the end when he shows up at her job back in California.. He instantly became my Hero!

Devil: Okay I wanted to slap both of them at one point in the story! Serious! Drake with his arrogant ass and just so not caring in the beginning, the two were literally at each's other's throats for a bit even after the smexy smexy. And when Payton gave her request... (not going to tell you what she requested) I was like SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! YOU NEVER EVER EVER SAY THAT TO A MAN... Now this part elicited a heated reaction from me which was NOT I repeat was NOT a bad thing. If the author can get a reaction from you they are doing something right! These two characters were so real for me that I just wanted to jump into the book and strangle the two! I was literally shouting at the screen. Girl STOP! and then I was like OH NO HE DIDN'T!

Angel/Devil: Overall the book was emotional for me I loved that I was so engrossed in their lives and was so excited about the ending.

Deep in the Heart of Texas Cowboys need love to!

Deep in the Heart of Texas by Alta Hensley, Melissa Ecker, and Amy le Blanc
* I received this ARC free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Tempted in Texas by Alta Hensley is the first story in this anthology. Sophia runs a small boutique and has problems giving up control. Her blackberry is glued to her hand and she can’t go a day without checking email. She doesn’t have any faith in her assistant but all of that changes when she gets to the ranch.

Deacon Weston is determined to loosen up Ms. Sophia Foster. She is wound tighter than a clock and is not happy when he tells her his rules, no internet and no phone. He gets her out of the cabin and out on the range. He introduces her to fresh air and a little country loving.

They spend a lot of time getting to know each other and each day get closer and closer. Sophia is starting to think about a future that doesn’t include her store but does include a sexy cowboy.

Tamed in Texas by Amy le Blanc is Maggie’s story. Maggie is one lucky lady and was granted a two for one deal at the ranch. Maggie is a reporter and was sent to the ranch to do a vacation piece on the ranch. She doesn’t want to be there and is determined that she will be done in two to three days tops then her and her friends can get out of there. That is until her hosts show up at her cabin.

Dylan and Chase are best friends and have been since they were very young. They have been known to share things in the past, will they share Maggie? The trio heads out on the range to wrangle the herd, little does Maggie know they will not be camping outside. She is not happy with her situation but refuses to let them know that she is not used to riding horses. When they stop for the evening, the boys take care of her and help ease her muscles from a day in the saddle.

One thing leads to another and after too many shots of tequila, Maggie has agreed to something that will change her future forever. The scenes with the three of them were very hot and well written. They have a difficult road ahead of them but if anyone can make it work, the three of them can.

Taken is Texas by Melissa Ecker is the final story in this anthology, its Payton’s story. She is the tough one of the group. She works for the sheriff’s department and is not afraid of domineering men. She is taken aback by Drake when she first meets him. He is abrupt and to the point and doesn’t take no for an answer. He makes her angry and hot at the same time, which thoroughly confuses her.

Drake has seen women like Payton before and he knows how to “tame” her. He wants to be the one she gives up total control to. He is amazed at her work ethic and can’t stop thinking about her. Drake loves the ladies but he isn’t the marrying type.

Payton and Drake are very hot together. I like that she is a strong female and he recognizes that and doesn’t try and change her. At the same time, she is not afraid to let go and submit to him, even if it is only in the bedroom. The banter between them had me rolling at times and I enjoyed getting to know the two of them.

All three of these stories flowed well together and were well written. The characters were fun and I liked that each story focused on one friend and one brother. Each story takes a different approach to their love scenes and has the ability to appeal to a wide variety of romance readers. There are a couple different levels of heat throughout the book from sweet love scenes to a ménage.

Overall this was a well matched trio of stories and I give Deep in the Heart of Texas 4½ Flaming Hearts.

When three career minded friends from LA agree to stay at a Texas dude ranch, they find some of the sexiest cowboys around. The men of the Weston Ranch have their hands full with Sophia, Maggie and Payton in this anthology by three of the hottest new authors in Erotic Romance. Alta Hensley, Amy le Blanc and Melissa Ecker combine the stories of three unique, strong and smart women into one seamless and steamy book. Each of these stories do well on their own, offering characters that you would love to see again. Deep In The Heat Of Texas gives us a copious amount of unrestrained (or in some cases, restrained) sex. It was fun and exciting watching these couples fall in lust and then in love.

Deep In The Heat Of Texas opens with a prologue written by author Melissa Ecker. Ecker does a wonderful job introducing the reader to not only her own character, Payton, but also Maggie and Sophia. We meet these three ladies while they are traveling to a dude ranch in Valentine, Texas for a two week stay. The prologue also gives us a brief look at each woman’s personality, their friendship and expectations for their stay at the Weston Ranch.

Tempted In Texas by Alta Hensley introduces us to Sophia. As a self-reliant business owner, Sophia isn’t used to being told what to do. When Deacon realizes that Sophia is a workaholic, he informs her of his rules, which include no phones, internet or work in general and clearly expects them to be followed. When Sophia breaks Deacon’s rules, she finds out he is more than willing to enforce his rules with some steamy yet loving punishment.

“What? Did you just say you would spank your woman?”
“Yes, ma’am, I did.”
“Why?”
“Darlin’ that is something that I’d have to show you, not tell you.”

Tamed In Texas by Amy le Blanc gives us not one lusty cowboy, but two. Maggie is a newspaper reporter, reluctantly sent to a dude ranch. While at the Weston Ranch, Maggie meets Dylan and Chase, lifelong best friends. At first sight these two cowboys inspire carnal thoughts as they take Maggie on an unbridled, sexual adventure. No one would blame a girl for enjoying both of these sensual and virile men.
One of my favorite quotes is actually from a secondary character, Dylan’s mother, Ann.
~quote~
“Where do you get this tequila? It’s lovely.”
“I’ve got a cowboy across the border that has a bit of a crush on me,” she whispered. “He sends me six bottles a month and I send him a nice, long dirty letter.”

Taken In Texas by Melissa Ecker is the story of Payton and Drake. This is an erotic treat meant to be read repeatedly. Payton is a police officer quite capable of taking care of herself. Drake is a jaw dropping, dominant cowboy that is unbelievably sexy. He is also a self-proclaimed womanizer that has no intention of settling down. When they meet there is a clash of personalities that stimulates the sexual tension between these strong individuals and it’s instantaneous and palpable. As hot as this story was, from the attitudes and arguments to the incredibly amazing tractor sex, I think it was at the end that I really fell for Drake. It’s hard to resist a man willing to lay himself on the line to get the woman he wants.

“I told you more than once that I’m not a liar. Never have been. I said I loved you because I do.”

Three fabulous authors together in one book is just the beginning of this journey. I never would have thought how much fun it would be visiting Texas, but after this steamy read, visiting just sounds more and more appealing.

These three stories will heat you up. They will also make you pant and drool. Caution things do get steamy. Hensley, Ecker, and Le Blanc make you want to pack up your belongings and head to Texas right that very minute. The women in the stories were strong, educated and beautiful, but each of them missing something in their life. Going on this getaway will help them find what they have been longing for but unable to find until now. They are all different but yet the same in a way. But this trip to Texas will change them all.

I actually adore these hot cowboys. Definitely swoon worthy. Not only were they Alphas but they had good hearts. Adoring them is a understatement, their characters just tend to jump out at you with each turn of the page. They are so hot *fans self*, I couldn't help getting sucked into ranch life.

Hensley, Ecker, and Le Blanc can really make your heart pound and blood boil. Not only are these women talented but they bring a new excitement not only to the erotic genre but the romance genre as well. They give you hot and heavy attraction and passion. And a happy ending is guaranteed. I loved the fact it wasn't so far fetched and it was nicely detailed. Everything blended together perfectly so while reading it had a nice flow. I found myself not being able to put it down.

Deep in the Heat of Texas will knock your socks off. Overall I really loved and enjoyed this book. I recommend it not only for Valentines Day but all year long. The sex is swoon and drool worthy. I hope in the future they will do another book. And after reading this I never wanted a cowboy so much *smiles sweetly* So saddle up and enjoy the ride of this Texas ranch.

Not a big fan! Maybe it was my own fault, as I clearly didn't read the reviews intensely enough, so I will still give it 3 stars and the benefit of doubt... I was NOT expecting that much sex and so many explicit images. I am not a prude, but this book left me with red ears. With the title and the short description, I expected a nice chick-lit summer fling type of book. Not what I got.
Now to the point I hated: The writing. The stories have NOTHING to do with each other. Yes, It is an anthology and you can do that if you like, but then don't market it as 3 authors working together on one story! The 3 women go for a holiday TOGETHER, to the SAME place, and never see each other. Not to spend some time together. Not to gossip about their hot new cowboy boyfriends. Not even to talk about very important live changing decisions? Seriously? Please. (and don't get me started on the logistics - why don't they see each other at dinner time?). Basically, you get 3 seperate short stories. With a lot of anal sex.

Rating anthologies is always tricky because not liking one story doesn't necessarily mean I didn't like the book. Unfortunately, all three stories had enough things to turn me off that I had to drop my initial impression to two stars. These are three hot stories of Texas cowboys and city slicker women. However, the intimacy is instantaneous, always a turn-off to me as a reader, and the women come off as weak in how willing they are to give in to the men's demands. I'm not big on overly independent women, but I like a touch of reality in the way characters interact with each other. This book just didn't have that in my opinion.

For what this is, an offering of erotic romance, Deep in the Heat of Texas puts out as the name implies. If you're looking for hot, sexy action, you're going to get oodles of it here. Though the execution is a little rough round the edges--I would have liked to have seen more integration between the three stories--the overall effect delivers three lovely tales that definitely push the limits. I don't think this story will be for everyone, but should hit the mark for readers who're amped for a lot of erotic action framed by an uncomplicated girls-get-swept-off-their-feet-by-hawt-cowboyz theme. If that's what you want. Then go get 'em, cowgrrrlz!!!

I realize this is anthology, but it still felt too short for me. The story is about threes girlfriends who travel from Los Angeles.Ca to a Dude Ranch in Texas. Each story is about one of the women and is written by a different Author. While i know that collaborating with other authors is hard some details left out of the first story should not have been left out After understanding this it mad the second and third stories more enjoyable.

3 best friends, 4 hot cowboys and 3 short novellas. It was a fun, sexy read. Plus it was free on Amazon so that makes it even better. But if you're looking for something quick and sexy then give it a try.

I was desperate for a book with an "X" in it so I could finish my Alphabet Reading challenge for 2014 but I had no idea it would be "xxx". I've read "50 Shades" and the Giddeon series by Syliva Day and I still blushed a lot reading this book. Not impressed.
