First book captured me from page one ! I love the storyline and the characters, the relationships as they progress !! This series is a perfect crazy mixture if you like The Vampire Diaries & The Walking Dead with wayyy more spice , seduction , & adventure!! The first book was a bit of world building but also a spicy af romance growing & it ripped my heart out there at the end but felt so good lol (if you know , you know) .. Now the second book .. OMG .. I thought the first book pulled me in?? Nope. The second book even better !! WOW .. I have no words .. but I will say it ended with a twist & a cliffhanger & just as my heart was finding its way back into my chest it was wrenched out AGAIN !! But it’s so so good !! Now book 3 ?? Damn it’s an addiction at this point.. & wow book three has been the best yet .. with more emotions that I could handle I was crying right along with the FMC feeling everything .. just wow .. my heart is taking a beating at this point !! With added characters & more adventures I’m loving it .. & as my heart starts to swell from the happiness & the coming together of certain things it is QUICKLY jolted from my chest again & I was audibly screaming “wtf” , “is this a dream” , “is this really happening” , “what is going on” , “what the f NO!” … so many things fell out of my mouth at the end of book 3 .. WOWWWWWW my effing heart hurts so damn good !! Okay okay book 4 … I understand that we needed an update on the FMC & what she decided to do.. BUT I was disappointed that the MMC wasn’t active in the book until the very end. His POV definitely would have helped. As the other books this one ended on a cliffhanger that I wasn’t truly expecting.. I am definitely in a moody fog now and ready for book 5
Ok the first three books in this series were just so good I couldn’t stop reading… They were a roller coaster of emotions ranging from happiness to sadness to joy to sadness again to grief then anger to numbness then ending in tears and pain to sadness and more tears especially this fourth book.. The ending broke me and now I have to wait until next year to read the next book in this series.. Please either make this year go by fast or release book 5 the last book in this series please, because I need to know what happened to Abby
2.5 ⭐️No one hates giving this a low rating more than me. After absolutely loving the 3rd book in this series, I was shocked at how much I disliked this book.
This book had the opposite problem as the first book. Where the first book went into way too much detail on unimportant things, this book completely left out important details. It did a lot of “telling” and not much “showing.” For it being the 4th in the series, that was extremely disappointing. It felt like I was reading the rough outline to the book rather than the full finished novel.
The character development wasn’t there. The plot just didn’t hit right. We skipped scenes that I felt should’ve been included because they were discussed by characters so I was just confused half the time. I really think it’s due to how short the novel was. I’m not sure why the author chose to have such a short book.
That being said, the cliffhangers this author writes are very good and emotional. Even though this book didn’t hit for me, I’m still on the edge of my seat waiting for the next book.
I do not know why this series doesn't get more hype. This is an excellent post apocalypse story with vampires. It has the enemies to lovers and found family tropes I love and it full of angst and grovel. All the elements that make the perfect dark romance read for me.
This book is all about Abby dealing with the emotional trauma after the big events of the last book. She is on a long road trip to find the big monster and end him once and for all. I so rarely find an FMC who is truly a badass, but Abby is it. The book is action packed, and I didn't find moments where I wanted to skip at all. 10/10 recommend.
Absolutely loved this book....again...absolutely love this whole series.
Please note that this is not a stand alone read and the books must be read in order to understand everything that is happening.
This book is all about Abby and how she is dealing with things out in the real world. I love her little sidekick, he definitely gives some humor to the story for me. Abby goes through some rough patches but comes out stronger and more resilient, which I love.
What a cliffhanger. I need the next book when is it coming? Ethan & Abby deserve a HEA after everything they have been through. A great series so far full of action & a strong sense of justice. Will they be able to repair their relationship again or is this the end of their journey together?
I'm not ok ... this book. That ending... This one was a lot darker than the previous 3. There was some more intense theme throughout that we hadn't previously seen. This was so good though and I'm in desperate need for book 5... I NEED CLOSURE!
Omg I am so angry!!!!! How can this be how the love story ends! I’ve been reading this series non stop for 3 days and I could scream at this ending! There has to be a solution. There has to be!
Great series can't wait for book 5 ,laurell Hamilton fans will like it , like the main characters , like the wee twists , hope book 5 is almost available
This is truly one of the best series I have read in a long long time! It’s a shame book 5 still hasn’t come out - over a year late. That is a LONG time it wait.
where do i start. This book took the whole post apocalyptic vibe and added the paranormal pull of vampire and when i say i've cried my eyes out, jumped for joy and needed to turn to my partner just to explain the book that he will never read so i could rant out of anger! this has turned into one of my favorites! Please shove this to the top of your TBR because you don't know what you are missing. i couldn't sleep until i finished it and had a rage moment when i got to the end because it was to soon!

He forgot me again. I spent almost a year working to get my Ethan back, then I finally do and he’s gone again. I went through all of that for nothing. He lost thirteen months this time. I can’t go through it again, but at least this time I can fill my time. I managed to take down Pike but Bram is still out there. I return to where Pike’s body was left and find him there alive. The only way to kill a kook or evos is to destroy their brain. Pike was only decapitated so he is still alive somehow, I don’t understand how but he is. And he can help me.
He can track Bram. So I use him. I travel the country with Pike as my guide but I am always one step behind the Revenant. I spend my time on the road, saving those being attacked by Kooks and keeping busy. I can’t save them all though, a lot of the time I end up too late and there are no survivors. Bram is growing an army and I am the only one who can stop him. I refuse to go back to Thompson Falls without him dead. I can’t.
Review:
Where book three was my least favorite, book four was my favorite. It kicks off with a punch and doesn’t stop the entire time. Book three was low action and more love story and book four is high action with no love story.
I don’t have much to say about this book because it was a quick read and honestly just so good. I will warn you that this book is darker than all the rest. It has some heavy and serious themes so be warned. This book isn’t like the rest of the series in a similar way that book there wasn’t. Abby has changed and she is focused on revenge. Nothing will stand in the way of achieving her goal.
Her character growth in this book is amazing. She has been through so much by this point in the series that she is just over it all. She checks out mentally a few times while she does some darker things but her progression makes full sense. We get to see some of her character flaws shine in this book as well as her developed hero complex. She wants to save anyone and everyone and I feel like it stems from her need to be in control. It ends up getting her into tough scrapes and she doesn’t seem to learn from her mistakes. It should come across as irritating or irresponsible but when you understand why she is driven this way, it instead becomes endearing.
This book has made me so eager for the last and I’m irritated I have to wait till next year for it to come out! Series rating so far : 4⭐️ and I am so happy I gave it a shot.
