I am surprised at the low ratings this book has been given. It takes place around Halloween, which is worth an extra 0.5 star to begin with!

The “guest” characters in this installment include a group of surfers who are involved in unsavory activities and the mother of a missing girl who suspects them of having something to do with her daughter’s disappearance in Acapulco. Kate’s granddaughter comes to visit because she is interested in one of the surfers.

Some plot twists, a Halloween party, and the usual nonsense from the group at Ocean Villas retirement community make for an enjoyable read.

I know that I've read another book from this series, but I can't find a review from me saying so, so maybe I never finished. But I remember that I didn't really like it, so I never picked anything up from this series until the other day when I was at the library browsing books and found another. The cute Westie dog on the cover was the selling point, because I want a Westie someday.

In this series, Kate Kennedy is a 70 year old lady living in a condo in South Florida with her dog. The whole time I was reading this book, it made me think of the show The Golden Girls, which I love and watch to much of. Because they live in Florida. So I kind of pictured how Kate's condo looked and that it was always warm and beachy. In this book, her niece comes to visit and gets mixed up with some fishy looking surfers, and of course one dies, and the niece is suspected of murder, and Kate and her sister in law try to find out what happened.

It's a quick read. Read it in one day. I liked it enough that I want to check out the other books in the series. Maybe even re-read the one I hated before.

The characters are suppose to be old, but I had a hard time thinking of them that way because they are cruising around in their flashy cars and solving crime, and when I think of old people, that's not what I think of, but oh well.

Kate Kennedy is a widow, who has moved to Florida but is having a hard time getting over her husband’s death. When her granddaughter falls for a surfer with questionable friends, Kate and her friend Marlene set out to investigate. For fans of humorous American cozies.

In this story Kate and her ex sister-in-law take on the Four Boardsman of the Apocalypse, a talking skull, a missing teenager, an elderly bank robber, and the local Casanova while trying to clear Kate's favorite granddaughter who is under a cloud of suspicion after her boyfriend is murdered.

Again - a good read where you don't need much brain power. The only thing was there were a number of loose ends that were never tied up at the end.

Fabulous title, fabulous cover, not so fabulous book! A kind of inside-out take off of the Natalee Holliway murder story....

I really enjoyed this series. Too bad this appears to be the last one. As with her other series (written as Noreen Wald), five books aren't enough!

Light, easy read. It definitely seems like the conclusion of this series.

I wish that there were more books in this series. I would have liked to know what Katherine knew about Marlene.
