When ex-supermodel Lola Carlyle learns that some very--ahem--private photos of herself are being peddled on the Internet, she hides out where there's sun and--she thinks--safety, until the gossip dies out. Then the private yacht she's blissfully napping on is "commandeered" by some man who says his name is Max Zamora, and that he works for the government.
It sounds crazy, but Max is telling the truth--his cover's been blown, he's on the run, and now he's confronted by a very angry--and beautiful--woman. He's seen Lola before--barely clothed on covers of fashion magazines. But she's more beautiful in person. From the top of her pert blonde head to the tips of her little painted toes, Max finds her sexy, curvy... and a pain in the butt. And that's before she blows up the ship!
Now, the unlikely pair is stranded in the middle of the ocean, it's getting very hot--not just from the sun--and Lola is about to reveal it all...
"I've decided I want to live long enough to take care of you for the rest of your life. Bring you soup when you're sick. Comb you're gray hair when you get old and can't do it yourself." How fucking sweet is that? My heart is currently a melted mess. This was old fashioned and so damn fun!!
Why? Because I did. I just loved this story [I'll say this a few more times before this review is over]. I think this is my favorite Rachel Gibson. I only have two more to read.. so can safely say, this is the BOMB!
Somehow, she is always consistent. I love her stories, I love her characters. She takes us deep, but only for a moment. Like the great tease. She isn't afraid of hair pullin' passion for her characters. She can make a kiss tender, angry, raunchy .. or just plain inside out intimate.
This book was a bit different than her series books. It is the story of Lola Carlyle. She is a former swimsuit model who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. In comes Max Zamora. Don’t you just love these names? Max is on a mission for the government and absconds with the yacht Lola is on in order to escape a Columbian drug lord whose son he just killed... Long story. It all goes south in a hurry.
We meet Baby Doll. He is the 1yr old Yorkie son of Lola. He is integral to this story and helps us fall in love with Max. Max loves to hate BD [won't call the damned dog Baby Doll - too pussy].
RG knows how to tell a story. She keeps them light, until they’re not. I laughed out loud reading this and got tears in my eyes during other moments. I was angry with Lola, angry for Lola. I loved and hated Max. This is one of those perfect reads. I absolutely loved it.
I think anyone could find something they liked in this book. I loved the scene .. Lola thinks she is going to die. We have three rowdy drug runners hootin’ it up on the beach with loud Mexican Fiesta music within hearing distance of her and Max. They have guns, Lola and Max do not. Baby Doll has been discovered and nabbed and Lola is heartsick. Lola begs Max to “love” her and he does .. boy does he. And trying to have sex in the bushes, really great sex in the bushes and be quiet? Stuff of legends..!
Just loved this story and just know you will too if you give it a go!
Lola Carlyle is an ex-supermodel who falls for Max Zamora, an ex-Navy Seal turned black ops.
Lola has escaped to a private island in the Bahamas to get away from all the attention generated from nude pictures circulating on the internet, thanks to her ex-fiancé, Sam.
Max Zamora, on assignment in the Bahamas (in which his cover has been blown), takes control of the Dora Mae, a private yacht. Unknown to Max, Lola is aboard sleeping as he does so. The two end up stranded in the Atlantic Ocean.
Here the story just dies for me. The time frame from when they are stranded to the time they manage to escape is very long. The story stalls, picks up a little, and then stalls again. They get stranded in chapter two and they manage to escape at chapter 11. This part takes place over the period of one week; in reading it, it felt more like several months. It just seemed to go on forever without a whole lot of action.
They go their separate ways after escaping/being rescued, but of course eventually wind up back together. Here the story stalls again and just doesn’t come alive for me.
In the end they do come together and have a happily ever after, but to me it was sloppy and contrived.
One Star

Rachel Gibson is an author who delivers stories that are rife with humor, filled with tons of sexual heat, and love of the kind that leaves a lasting impression on you. It has been a long time since I indulged in a book by Ms. Gibson, and while I have forgotten just exactly how this landed in my TBR pile, I have not forgotten just how much I enjoyed this number and the emotions that coursed through me as I read along.
30 year old Lola Faith Carlyle is in a bit of a fix, with her naked pictures ending up on the internet, thanks to her ex-fiance’ who does so to bail himself out of financial difficulties. An ex-model who graced billboards and the cover of many a magazine, Lola is someone who dealt with severe anorexia at the height of her career. Having started her own mail order lingerie line two years ago, Lola takes a mental-health vacation to flee from the mess that had come out of the publication of her photos.
36 year old Lieutenant Commander Maximilian Javier Gunner Zamora could not be more different from Lola if he tried. Officially listed as retired from US Navy, Max owns a security consulting firm which takes him on missions paid for by the US government in ways that leaves them the luxury of plausible deniability if ever shit were to hit the fan, Max is someone who leads a life on the edge. The latest mission that Max is on goes awry and he is on the run for his life when he encounters none other than Lola, and is forced to take her hostage.
At first, the animosity between Lola and Max reeks from the pages. Max is no fan of delicate women and Lola has an aversion to everything that Max represents. But as these two face off and also work through their differences to make it out alive in one piece, the attraction that simmered below the surface from the get-go bursts forth and there is no stopping the tidal wave of desire that overtakes them both.
Max is wary of the way he reacts to Lola, being someone who hates weakness of any kind, be it towards imbibing in alcohol or women who makes a man lose his mind. But in Lola, for the first time, Max finds someone who might bring him to his knees and reform the adventure seeking soul inside of him that lives for his next mission. Max is a commitment-phobe if ever there was one, while Lola seeks to find someone worthy of investing and giving her all, and Max is definitely not it.
I loved the coming together of Lola and Max. Even through their distrust towards each other at the beginning, the reluctant conversations between the two were revealing of where they were both coming from. I enjoyed this facet of the story rather than Ms. Gibson developing their characters via narrative writing. I also loved the fact that Max tries to polish his language around Lola, just because. Max has an innate need to claim Lola for his own in a way that is all consuming, and that is one of the reasons behind the angst factor in the novel which I adored.
The only reason why this did not earn 5-stars was due to the lack of an epilogue. I loved the fact that Lola was willing to meet Max halfway when it came right down to it. Love often comes with making difficult choices, which may in the short and long run mean living with and loving someone who time and yet again puts their life on the line. Asking a man to give up what they love is just as unfair as a woman being forced to give up on doing what they love, all because their partners cannot handle the total package.
What makes Ms. Gibson’s books such fun is the fact that she writes heroes who are alpha to their very core, a bit chauvinistic, and all male where they are concerned; this makes it extra entertaining when they fall so hard for the woman who changes everything!
Recommended for fans of contemporary romances that makes you laugh and squeal in delight. Ms. Gibson always hits the mark just right!
Final Verdict: Lola Carlyle Reveals All is a highly delightful romance of two opposites who clash and love just as fiercely. There is nothing left to do towards the end, but surrender heart, body, and soul!
Peşindeki adamlar onu yakalaması an meselesidir..Bir an önce uzaklaşmak zorundadır.
I'll confess--I only picked this book up because I was running out of books on vacation, and it seemed like a fast read from what was available at the hotel's swap shelf.
I like a good fluffy romance. It doesn't have to be particularly deep. But I'd like it to make sense, and I'd like it to not perpetuate gender stereotypes so much that I want to throw it against a wall. This fails.
Look, it's ok to start with some stereotypes. But the characters should be able to rise above them a bit. Here, there are repeated opportunities, all of which are missed. For example, the dude is trying to fish. He's using the wrong lure. Supermodel turns out to have had a grandfather who ran a sport fishing boat, so she corrects him, and catches a fish before he does. Awesome. Nice way to bring him down a notch and make him see her like a person. But the author couldn't leave it there. No, he has to then catch a bigger fish than she did. Because he's a man. A manly man. And men are better fishers than women, even when it's established that he's less experienced.
Also, the plot never goes anywhere. Or rather, it goes a bunch of random places. He gets beat up by the drug lords he's trying to bring down, hesteals her boat with her on it, she accidently blows up the controls trying to defend herself. They drift for awhile, giving them time to get to know each other. Great. They land on an island, then discover it's a drug cache. Awesome. They steal the drug runner's boat and get away. Hurray. Have a big showdown with the drug lord and declare victory.
But no, that doesn't happen. They get back to the mainland. There's a little bit where he's decided it's unprofessional to call her and she can't find him, which is abandoned almost immediately. They break into her ex's house and steal some embarrassing photos the ex put on the internet. Nothing really happens with this either. She takes him to her family ruin. Nothing happens there. She's an ex-bulimic who never actually goes into crisis (or has teeth problems), so it's useless characterization. He gets called on another mission, she hands him an ultimatum and walks out when he chooses the job over her, he goes on the job and we don't see what happens, then he shows up and declares that he wants her more than the job and completely undoes all of the characterization from the whole book. Also, we're told, not shown. WTF?
And the drug lords? Never show up again. Despite the fact that much is made of them, despite the fact that her disappearance and reappearance make the news and should make it really easy for them to find her. Major plot, completely dropped.
Basically, this was awful. And because I'm an awful person, I put it back on the shelf for the next unwary reader. Sorry, next reader.

I couldn't remember why I didn't like this book as much as I usually like Ms Gibson's so I read it again. Now I remember: 1) they're stranded in the middle of the ocean for at least four days and both of the main characters think about how wonderful the other one smells. Come on!! They've been bathing in sea water and their hair and skin are salty and sticky. 2) His rescues a dog, tied to a lawn chair on the beach, while the bad guys are drunk and shooting up the island, on the same beach. No details given. 3) (and the best/worst) He can't wear the condoms left on the boat by the owner because "they will not fit, too small". So she agrees to unprotected sex with a man who kidnapped her four days ago. He then goes to the boat and gets the same "too small" condoms; puts a full size flashlight in one condom and has enough room left to tie it to his belt. He takes two more "too small" condoms and uses them to cover the army-issue sniper rifle, stock and barrel with scope, to protect it from the water. I'm pretty sure the sniper rifle is bigger than he is. Sounds like a case of wishful thinking to me. This book is why they call it "fiction."
Complete fluff. It kind of ended in a "HFN" (happy, for now), as I really could not get behind Lola and Max staying together forever. At some point he would be restless and resentful and her amazing double D's would fail to sidetrack him from his boredom. The plot was a little thin, although I respect Ms. Gibson for having done some obvious research into tactical ops. The sex scenes were decent but that's really the only chemistry there was between the characters, IMO. NOT my favorite by Ms. Gibson - she has better books to offer.
I never heard of this Rachel Gibson book and it is surprising good. Supermodel gets hijacked on yacht by undercover operative while he is running from a drug cartel trying to kill him. Reading this. it is very different than her other books. The first third is mostly Lola and Max trying to survive on stolen but disabled yacht, then running from drug dealers and barely escaping with their lives. They finally go back to civilization with the help of the coast guard and secret government agency. Max owns a security company but continues to risk his life on black ops missions. Lola owns a lingerie company after retiring from modeling. She has suffered bulimia, poor self esteem and is just SO tired of being used for her looks and fame. Her Ex is running a website with almost naked pics of her which were supposed to be private and despite legal battles he won't take down. She is still shamed by people and press (she gained 15 lbs) is now is a healthy weight and just wants to live a normal life. I like Lola as she is not what she appears to be and is really a decent person. Enjoyed this book a lot and the characters were very likeable.

Cute story. I thought I had read this before, but I don't remember the end of it, so maybe I just read an excerpt. Anyway, it opens with the hero absconding with the yacht the heroine is napping on with her Chihuahua. Things go from bad to worse until they are rescued about halfway through. I wasn't expecting the rescue to come that early, but there are a few items they have to take care of back in civilization. I enjoyed this. It's a cute book.
When ex-super model Lola Carlyle learns that some very -- ahem -- private photos of herself are being peddled on the Internet, she hides out where there's sun and -- she thinks -- safety, until the gossip dies out. Then the private yacht she's blissfully napping on is "commandeered" by some man who says his name is Max Zamora, and that he works for the government.
It sounds crazy, but Max is telling the truth -- his cover's been blown, he's on the run, and now he's confronted by a very angry -- and beautiful -- woman. He's seen Lola before -- barely clothed on covers of fashion magazines. But she's more beautiful in person. From the top of her pert blonde head to the tips of her little painted toes, Max finds her sexy, curvy... and a pain in the butt. And that's before she blows up the ship!
Now, the unlikely pair is stranded in the middle of the ocean, it's getting very hot -- not just from the sun -- and Lola is about to reveal it all...
Lola is not really the high maintenance person she appears to be. At least not the uppity thing that Max believes her to be. She is just every man's dream of a fantasy. She has gained weight since her modelling days. She may be heavier, but Max things she looks great. Too good to be exact. The characters are awesome. Max is a retired SEAL who is now in the covert opps. His no BS type of life leaves little room for relationships. But Lola gives him a run for his money. She stands firm when she is told to jump. Max isn't use to that... he is use to being asked 'how far should i jump?' She can take care of herself. Some of the things Lola does, are better than i was prodding her to do! lol I totally enjoyed this book. Some very hot scenes, when they are threatened and under the gun. Totally out of character for both of them. Another Gibson great!
Compared to other novels by Rachel Gibson, this was sort of a disappointment for me. It felt very stretched and prolonged. Even though the events happened with the course of a week, the plot line was stalled so much it felt like eons without any real action and it kind of made it monotonous and boring to read.
Max Zamora is your typical dark handsome hero of the novel with excellent physique and brooding closed off nature. I really liked his character, how he handled the situation and no matter how distracted he was able to prioritize both his and Lola's safety and needs, especially putting Lola's safety and somewhat demands first on the list.
On the other hand, Lola was a disappointing lead. She seemed shallow, self centered and quite the drama queen, throwing fits and blowing any situation out of proportion. Her character development was quite slow to be honest but in the end she redeemed herself a little.
All in all, it's your typical Rachel Gibson writing, but I feel the characters needed more work, specially the female lead.
