Midlife Magic in Memoriam #4

Mixtapes and Mind Control

Rate this book
I’m a middle-aged coward.

When I hear a bang, my first instinct is to hide in the nearest bush.

The only time I can manage an ounce of bravery is when I'm using my bodysnatching magic.

In the middle of the night, I feel a magical tingle, a pull across the country, and I bolt out of bed. I pack a bag and happily leave my mundane life behind.

When I arrive in the city of Piccadilly, though, my supposed-to-be coven sister Wendy wants nothing to do with magic, or with me.

I’m persistent, but my resolve begins to waver—until a sheep drops from the sky and crushes me.

The sheep says I’m a reaper now, and I must accept my new job or die.

First name on my to-reap list—it’s Wendy.

Maybe this new threat will be the push my reluctant new coven sister needs to embrace our shared destiny.

Maybe this is the end of me…or maybe this will be the magical adventure I waited my whole life for.

Maybe I’ll summon the courage not only to survive, but to thrive.

Who are Marnie, Jayden, and Imogen? Where are they, and where do they work? What are they trying to figure out? Who are Brock, Dora, Bella, Antonio, and Caleb? How does Imogen know each of them? I felt so bad for Imogen at just 10% of the way into the story. Oh my gosh, Imogen's irrational fear of an animal was a hoot. What is the animal? When I finally learned why, it made sense. Things got interesting between a sheep, a St. Bernard, Jayden, Marnie, and Brock. Who and what is Bernadette/Birdie? How does her life meet up with Imogen's life? What happens with Brody and Marnie when Imogen is not 'working' fast enough? Oh my, I did not see that coming! I cannot wait for Marnie's book now. Read and see what exciting things happened! I enjoyed the read!

She was tired of the mundane life. About time things livened up—well, this wasn't exactly the way she'd hoped.

Her witchy abilities were about to change. Could her coven help? What kind of changes are gonna happen?

This one will need you to read it to prevent any spoilers. You'll get to revisit some characters and meet new ones. New enemies as well. Will help come in time to save her!

Don't miss it.

Brill!

A witch that can jump/bodysnatch into other people??!?!?!

Not wonderful, slightly useful?

Well, unfortunately this is Imogen's superpower.

She fully admits she's a coward, but really wants not to be.

When a sheep falls of a roof and kills her life takes an even weirder twist.

A flying sheep tells her she's now a reaper and she's got 30 days to 'kill' the folks in a scroll she's given.

One problem, her would be coven and friend are on the list.

Imogen is a wonderful, weird woman and I think she great!

this is such a fun series

I was worried that I wouldn’t like this story due to Imogen’s life being kind of a downer. I was wrong, it took a minute in the beginning but it really got going and I couldn’t put it down. As always our favorite group of characters were there. I feel the relationship in this one was a little more in depth due to shared history. That was fun! I love the low angst positive vibes this author gives even when the main character could die any minute.

I have read the 4 books in this series, #5 won’t be released until December 2024. Each one, to myself, seems to start slow but I have finished them & did like the finished stories.
The stories include some very different magical powers.

Happy

This book was emotional but happiness underlined everything. Imogen truly deserved to get her HEA. Dealing with Imogen is crazy personified but she's still happy.
