What could be worse than spending Valentine's Day alone? Spending it with evil zombies!!Megan Berry is no stranger to heartbreak, but spending Valentine's Day serving other happy couples hot dogs while mourning the loss of her one true love is almost more than even a highly trained Zombie Settler can handle. So when her recently estranged boyfriend, Ethan, texts her asking her to be his Valentine, she ditches her bodyguard and rushes to his side. But soon, Megan's dreams of chocolates, flowers, and lingering make-up kisses take a turn of the rotted-corpse-and-maggot variety, and Megan fears that her first Valentine's Day with Ethan may be her last.
Stacey Jay is a recovering workaholic (or at least working hard at recovering) with three pen names, two small children, and a passion for playing pretend for a living. She’s been a full time mom-writer since 2005 and can't think of anything she'd rather be doing. Her former careers include theatre performer, professional dancer, poorly paid C-movie actress, bartender, waiter, math tutor (for real) and yoga instructor.

Heather's Notes So this is a YA book which aren't my favorite to start with. However since it was a short story I thought it would be a good way to test this series. I can easily say I will not be reading this series. The heroine is seriously TSTL even for a teenager. Seriously, you are going to totally ignore all the warnings and happily get in a car while telling NO ONE. Also the ending was ridiculous. Not to mention the love / not love triangle. Also this is apparently the last book of the series ( that is in no way finished), so will not be putting myself through the torture of an unfinished series.

This was a fun short read. Really hoping for more Megan Berry books though. :)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Review for when I re-read this one in 2015:
Re-read of the paperback. Too bad we have to do it like this. I needed a book for my US challenge, and I found out Megan's story takes place in Arkansas, a state I didn't have on my list yet.
As I said in the tiny review for the paperback, I am hoping for a 3rd book or even more books. However, it has been 4 years now since this book came out and my hope is getting less and less. I know, there have been series were it took ages for a book to come out, and I will keep hoping, but I think eventually, if there is no news or anything at all, that I will just forget about this series. Which would be sad, as I really liked this series the first time I read it.
The only reason I rated this lower than the previous book was because I still remembered what happened in this book, even though it has been almost 2 years since I last read it. This is also a big reason why I barely re-read. I remember most details and endings of books as soon as I start re-reading them. I sometimes even remember them before I open the book. Just the blurb can be enough. Which at times is annoying, but I am also kind of happy with it.
This book was fun. I really missed Megan and her stupidity. Yes, stupidity. She is hunted by many, everyone wants her blood. Zombies rise from their graves due to her powers, and yet she runs away without protection to meet her man. Yes, she puts herself in big danger (and everyone around her), all because she wants to find her man and kiss and do stuff with him. It is a trait that annoyed me in the books. I would be shouting: NOOOOO, don't do it! Nooooo, don't go, it is obviously a trap! But she never hears me (of course), and just barges head first in the problems. But, she is also awesome and kick-ass. I really love that she has both Settler and Witch powers, she makes one awesome character with these skills, though I wish she would learn to control them better. I am sure, with enough practising, that she could be the most powerful in the world.
I really like Ethan and I am happy with the events happening in this book. I won't spoil anything, as this all happens near the end.
I will keep hoping for a new part, especially with the events that happened near the end in this book. There is still so much to tell, so much to do. Megan is not safe yet, there are still baddies to be defeated. Her dad needs to be found and so many other things. So many questions that remain unanswered, so much action that still needs to be done.
I would really recommend this series to everyone. In need for zombies? For a bit of romance? Then try this series out.
Megan is heartbroken and lonely, not only did she have to kill her friend who turned out to be evil. But she also lost the love of her life, the guy she thought she would be with forever. All because of one mistake she made with Cliff her undead friend. All she wants is to be normal but being a settler isn't a lifestyle choice. Megan would give anything to have Ethan by her side, that's all she wants. And when a text message from Ethan gives her hope of what may be once again she doesn't think anything could go wrong, until someone hijacks Ethan's car and kidnaps her.She knew she wasn't ever going to be safe but if leaving is going to keep her loved ones safe including Ethan then why shouldn't she leave her life behind.
Can I just say I wish I was married to Ethan, oh my goodness I don't think he could get any more perfect than he already is. I just adore him so much, he is charming, protective, loveable, sweet, courageous, and a fighter. Stacey jay is a brilliant author who never seems to disappoint me, I always enjoy her books at least the ones I have read. Her zombie books are out of this world, in the last Megan Berry book I had to basically pick my jaw off the floor because I didn't know what was going to happen I felt the desire of reading more about Megan and Ethan. Megan grows more and more after every book, her powers in this one blew me away, Cliff is a wonderful character he loves Meg so much also but deep down I think he knows that nothing can happen between them.
And when this short story came out I couldn't wait to read it, and once again I am extremely happy to have read it. It was more than I could ask for, I love how Ethan and Meg's relationship ended on a strong note and I am hopeful that this time it will last forever. Stacey has such a fantastic way of putting a story together, her writing is literally like a free pass to an endless adventure, kind of like watching a movie. What an astounding job, I don't think I could ever get tired of her books.
This novella gave us some nice closure to Megan's story. Which makes me all sorts of smiley because people who fight the forces of evil (whether they're related to you or not) should have a happy ending. Barring a happy ending, they should at least get to kick some serious ass. And possibly find out some disturbing information about your former best friend who tried to kill you and is currently inhabiting a reanimated corpse. Oh, good times. Good times.
So, I have kinda a funny story here. Okay, it's not *really* funny but I find it amusing. I've met Stacey Jay. We've hung out. Okay, we hung out once. And I've been to a few of her book signings. I can see Stacey in this book. I can hear her utterly exuberant and sparkly personality bubbling up in Megan's thoughts and her musings on cheese. I loved it! I love hearing an author's voice shine through like that.
Highly amusing (much like Stacey herself) and irreverent, I was pleased that Megan wasn't left dangling in mid-series hell. We got enough answers that I wasn't clawing at the walls begging for more and enough was left unsaid to let me imagine a happy ending for everyone in the Megan Berry universe. Except the bad guys. They don't get happy endings.
I am a massive fan of the Megan Berry series so I was really excited to learn this novella was being written. I literately could not wait to get my hands on it so I bought both the ebook and the paperback version!
When we catch up with Megan she is still coming to terms with how her involvement with Cliff has affected her relationship with Ethan, so when she gets a text to meet up with Ethan on Valentine's day she jumps at the chance to make things right between them. But is everything really what it seems...
I absolutely loved it! Megan is such a great character and I adore Ethan, and the mythology behind the series is really, really good. They are always such fun to read, with fast paced action and great character interaction, and this one is no exception. I am always completely sucked into the story and don't want to put it down. At around 80 pages, this can easily be read in one sitting and I enjoyed every minute!
This novella works really well in 'finishing' the story - giving some closure - but at the same time leaving it open for more books in the series. I really do love this series and I really hope sales for this are good. If so, there is the possibility that we could get more and I do hope that is the case. A great addition to an awesome series!
Okay, I thought I write a review since it hasn't yet recieved one. If you read the first two,You Are So Undead to Me & Undead Much? I doubt you'll need much encouragement to buy this one. But if you haven't you've got to read the first two or much of this wont make sense to you.
Megan Berry once again lands herself into trouble but you can't blame her, all she wanted to do was to be with him, her one true love. Not wanting to spoil anything for a wannabe reader I'll just say this, there are parts were you want to scream at her, telling her not to go, dont do that but if she dosen't well then there wouldn't be a story, would there?
It's a great continuous to the series. You'll learn more about her just like you did in the second one, though more than she ever wanted to know. You'll love it just like the others. I had to get the kindle for my PC(thankfully its free from amazon) just so i could read and find out what happens next. I hope in the future she'll be able to write more about Megan berry because I just love this series and the whole concept of zombie settlers. I bid her goodluck and encourage you (future buyer) to get this...I promise you, you wont regret it, I sure didn't.
I really do hope that this little teaser of novella is not the end of Megan Berry. I do love her. What I love more is Stacey Jay's writing and since the discovery of this series I have pre-ordered her two pending releases and acquired two of her other books. Yes, I love her that much... it's deep, very deep.
I liken Stacey Jay to authors like Melinda Metz, Stacey Kade, Gayle Forman and Elizabeth Scott, to name a few. All are gifted storytellers but more than that, all have a way of crafting very simple prose that draw in the reader and leave them feeling as though they just bore witness to a super secret conversation no one was supposed to know about. There is an ease of accessibility to this style of writing that I simply adore.
Anyway, I could go on and on about how much I love Stacey Jay, but I won't bore you. If you've never read a Megan Berry book and like a strong female protagonist who's maybe a little too impetuous for her own good, then read the first in the series, You Are So Undead To Me. It's a really, really fun, quick read.
I am SO So thankful that I stumbled upon this Megan Berry short on Amazon.com. If youd read the first 2 books in the series, your sure to enjoy this short that included a huge twist and a bittersweet ending. I just love these books and appreciate that Mrs Jay wrote this short especially for the fans.
Its the Valentines Day dance at Megans school, and Megan is totally bummed. She and Ethan havent spoken in weeks and in a near crying fit in the girls room, Megan gets a text from Ethan to meet her at the Sonic down the street.
When they finally meet up, Megan starts to feel something is very very wrong. Is someone impersonating Ethan? Read on to find out.
Classic Megan Berry! If you've read the first two books, you'll feel right at home. If you haven't, this is still a fast, sharp and blisteringly-placed read that you'll have no trouble picking up by Page 1.
Valentine's Day of the Undead is a swift and chilling tale filled with family intrigue, betrayal, jealousy and, of course, romance. A satisfying, if brief, conclusion to a great series... and a great way to celebrate Valentine's Day!
This is a book that can suffice as a conclusion to the other books. If the sales do well then she will write more books. You must check this out if you want to read more Megan Berry novels. I really hope you enjoy, Stacey Jay is such an awesome author. She really makes you feel like the characters are your best friends.
It was too short. I've really missed reading this series and couldn't find this anywhere except as an ebook. I was so disappointed when I realized how short it was. I would've given it more stars if it was longer. Unfortunately as soon as it got good, it ended. I'm hoping there will be more added to this series!
