Ariana Karas and Maxwell Forrester..
Ariana is from a large,loving Greek, restaurant owning family in Florida - at 19 moved to San Francisco to join her aunt and uncle to learn the restaurant business, and hopefully to step into their business when the retire... she was temporarily derailed from that plan when she fell in love and married a singer, and was divorced 3 years later...it's been 8 years more... and she's taking over the restaurant, has the plans to remodel the place and the restaurant is closed for a month - the first week for demo work she is leaving toher uncle.
Max is from a poor family - parents who worked hard, and and when he was 9 they sunk further into poverty when dad was shot and out of work for year - the kids being shuffled to different relatives... until he presented a plan to his grandfather for a loan that would tide them over, and he started making money - saving bottles, delivering newspapers,etc... and continued to his thirties where he is high into real estate. His best friend, Mara - whose wealthy parents are after her to marry, and she is a big fund raiser for causes she believes in... and she asks him to marry her - to make her more acceptable to the matrons she approaches for money and to get her parents off her back, and to give Max access to people of her economic bracket. Her cousin, and his other best friend Charles, has watched him watching Ariana for 2 years, dropping into her restaurant for coffee in the morning, and a beer after work ... and he is against mara and Max marrying because he believes they both deserve passion and love - so he tells Ariana that he is the one getting married with Max the best man and that he is available... (as he plans the rehearsal dinner at her restaurant) -
and Mara's dad is anti Max, sure he is going to hurt her... so he's had detectives watching him... and arranges to have one of Ariana's bartenders who needs money - to get pictures of Max - so the bartender slips him a roofie... just after Ariana had decided whe's taking the week off she has to explore San Francisco and to wish she had someone to share just the week with (doesn't want to be distracted once she's back to work)...
and the drugged Max comes onto Ariane - and Ariane can tell he's been drugged, and takes him home... but when he seems a bit more clear headed, she succumbs to his invitation to make her dreams come true.
and they have some passionate days and nights... she is concerned about Mara, but Mara had already decided that a marriage of convenience was not for her, but didn't want her dad pulling out of a deal he and Max were involved with - so she told her parents that they had eloped, giving Max a week off...
but they fall in love... they figure out the truth about the pictures and who is behind it all... but it's okay... and they figure out they can have it all... ahhhh

4 Stars! ~ Max has been intrigued by Ariana for a few years, but he's been too driven by ambition to act on it. When someone slips him a Mickey, suddenly Max loses his inhibitions. Ariana is about to embark on a huge undertaking. She's renovating her restaurant, and soon it will be on the list of places to be and be seen. When the man of her fantasies falls victim when someone puts something in his drink in her establishment, she has to see that he gets home safely. Ah, there begins the fun. Earlier, Ariana found a copy of a magazine which showcased San Francisco and an erotic scene taken overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. It just so happens that Max has the perfect balcony to match that photo.
This is one to look for on ebay or the used book sellers! ... if you like sizzle, this one is for you ... Max and Ariana discover their hidden desires, both having focused their entire lives to their careers, their new adventures are liberating. Max discovers he's a bit of an exhibitionist. Ari finds that she's game when Max says anything goes .... Not all surrounds the sizzling sex; both Max and Ari have depth as characters and evolve. A very good read!
