Dimity's past life included a lot of travel, a lot of people, and a lot of boats. She's cruised around the world and in and out of a career in Hospitality and Marketing until she finally grounded herself back in Queensland, Australia. Family and a fortune which exists only in her fantasies now maintains and motivates her.
She loves eating cake with ice cream, sailing on the beam and writing in her diary although combining all three makes her nauseous.
To Read, Write and Inspire, especially for Children, has been her passion for decades. She's been actively indulging in it since 2008 by writing picture books, chapter books, creative digital content for reading apps and short stories for kids' anthologies.
She regularly comes runner up in Writing for Children competitions but cherishes the BP Award given to her by her Year 9 English teacher; for being the most tenacious, quiet achiever.
Dimity is a Volunteer Role Model for Books in Homes, Australia, helping to enhance and support the reading opportunities of children across the nation.
Her latest undertaking is masquerading as the Managing Editor for Kids' Book Review which allows her to share even more marvellous kids' reads. She also reviews some of her faves at DIM'S re VIEW.
"PS Who Stole Santa's Mail?" was her debut junior novel (2012).
"The Fix It Man" was her debut picture book with illustrator, Nicky Johnston (2017). "At The End of Holyrood Lane", their second creation together (2018), addresses the subject of domestic violence and is the SCBWI Crystal Kite Award 2019 winning book for the Oceania Region. "This is My Dad" (2022) and Pippa #2! (2023) are her latest releases.
In this second Pippa story, Pippa's love of adventure is curtailed by the arrived of twin brothers who are demanding and need a lot of looking after. Worse than that, they are no fun at all and Pippa wants to be as far away from them as she can. But when a dangerous stranger threatens their safety, what's a big sister to do? A heartwarming story about the changes that accompany new siblings, the challenges and the rewards. A lovely read, especially for those expecting the arrival of a new little one (or ones) in the family.
