Sikh Stories focuses on stories about the lives of the gurus. It has child-friendly artwork and clear well written tales to introduce young readers to the most important beliefs, values, and traditions of the Sikh faith.

The book features 8 stories: The Rich man and the Needle of Heaven, The Milk and the Jasmine Flower, The story of Bhai Lalo, The Emperor and the Langar, The story of Guru Ram Das, The Princes and the Guru’s Cloak, The Merchant and the Five Hundred Coins, The Founding of the Khalsa.

Each story is supported by fact boxes about the people, places, objects and events that are significant to that text. This are really helpful and teach you a lot of facts behind the stories and the history of the faith.

I enjoyed reading these short stories with the bright illustrations. I think that it taught me quite a lot about Sikhs and what they believe and how their religion has formed.

A collection of short stories about different Sikh gurus. Each is a teaching story with a lesson learned at the end. Begins with a very brief introduction (1 paragraph) to the Sikh religion, so those unfamiliar with its tenets/beliefs will need something supplementary.

These stories are the perfect length for small kids, i.e., not too long, and use appropriately simple language. A very nice touch is the combination of photos and bright illustrations which accompany the stories. And what made it 5-star is the addition of various facts and historical information in the form of a Glossary and "Did You Know" text boxes.
