Is there a war going on in your home? Does a weeping willow describe your family tree? Do you wish you had been born to a different family? Did you pick up some bad DNA from someone in your lineage? Our homes should be places of love and security, but demonic activity and hindrances often fill them with conflict, dissatisfaction, and disillusionment. Purging Your House, Pruning Your Family Tree takes you to the root of these issues, showing you how to rid your home and family of demonic influence and generational oppression. With his unique blend of Bible knowledge and spiritual insight, Perry Stone brings to light the methods and strategies the devil uses to launch his attacks against our families. Discover what you need to know to stand strong against him, including: How Satan selects his victims from an early age, removing accursed things from your house, how you can prevent Satan’s return to your house, the reason three o’clock in the morning taps into the spirit world, and why we battle atmospheric warfare and how to change it. The insights in this audio book—if listened to, believed, and practiced—will help you to alter your present situation and prepare for a great emotional and spiritual future.

I've been lording over the Christianity section of the store on and off from the better part of the last 7 years. Before that I worked in the section sometimes, and I like to think I have been aware of what kind of books live there. When I started the Christian Inspiration / Living section was mainly self-help books with a Christian bent, that and the prosperity gospel books and how to stay a virgin until you get married. In the past few years though there have been more and more books about spiritual warfare (aka ridding your and your loved ones and strangers who don't know they need help of demons). What you used to have to go looking for on kooky websites and find being sold at tables at Gun Shows seem to be going more and more mainstream. There are a bunch you can buy right in the middle of secular Hymie-Town NYC. And yes some people in the godless wasteland of the NYC sadly do buy these books.
I was in the shower and this book popped into my mind. Now if I had some brain damage or believed that there was a higher power and that (s)he/(it) were going to speak to me I might believe that I was being given a message. But I since I leafed through this book one day to find out the answer to the titular question, I know that spirits show some decorum and do not in fact watch you shower, or poop. The bathroom has a sort of venetian blinds that flap closed to heaven when you are doing any of your business. So that means it wasn't an inspiration from up above, unless I count my brain as up above most of my body, and I thought a-ha! I get it now, I get why we have all these demon-ridding books in the store (and I thought how sad it was that if a customer came in asking for a book with prayers for ridding themselves of demon birds that I could put on in their hands)! They are the next step in the prosperity gospel continuum. Granted this is just a hypotheses, but the more mainstream increase of demon-routing books (and I mean seriously look at the title to this book, if this isn't a let's start returning to the dark ages of ignorance...) is because the prosperity gospels don't work. After years of giving these snake-oil con-men at least 10 percent of their earnings, over-drawing on credit cards with the hope of god ejaculating riches on you as a reward for fiscal stupidity, and being a dope that after not finding results in Joel Olsteen's first book Your Best Life Now keeps shelling out money for the follow ups (which shouldn't need to exist, how can you have a better than a best life?) and finding that their life still fucking sucks and maybe it could be because life is unfair and sucks, or because the decisions one made are shitty, or maybe it is because all the giving and praying to Dr. Dollar, or TD Jakes or Joyce Meyer or to that douche bag who looks like Tom Cruise in Magnolia, maybe I'm just not seeing results because there are demons living in my fucking house! Or even worse it was an ancestor who was a sinner and demons are still lurking around!!!! The moment you decide to buy this book it must be all so clear, all those horror movies about ancient curses and all of that, it was all true and that is the reason why I'm poor white trash living in squalor! Granddaddy probably fucked a godless hooker and now we need to get that demon out of our house, and then our lottery numbers will finally come in!!
The fact that a major bookstore is carrying this book is one of the signs that we are in serious trouble. And it's not Satan coming out of the ground to run around and scare us all, or Jesus coming down on a white horse, or Mayans 2012 hookum. It's there are some really ignorant people out there and they are being catered to. Oh and they might have guns.
Purging Your House, Pruning Your Family Tree by Perry Stone is a Christian guide to help you clean out demonic influences from your home and life. Stone, a Charismatic minister and writer, wants to help readers clean out their homes and lives of spiritual influences that may be bringing them down. From a family history of abuse and addiction to bringing accursed things into your home to using the authority of the Blood of Christ, Stone offers advice and solutions for many problems Christians may not even be aware are plaguing them. Stone has some very solid advice in the book, from being careful about bringing foreign objects into your home that may have been used in idol worship to anointing your home to protect it to standing firm against attacks from Satan, there is some very valuable information in this book that I do intend to use. However, Stone uses the book in some unusual ways that don't stand up to Scripture. One chapter is devoted to the evil of the Kennedy family and how patriarch Joseph cursed his sons by his bootlegging and illegal financial activities. Maybe so, but this book isn't the place for this kind of diatribe. Stone also misuses Scripture on occasion to make his point. He emphasizes the importance of blood sacrifice and how that translates into the power of Christ's Blood, but when he says that God only stopped his plague on the Jewish people caused by David's census by a blood sacrifice on the altar, he's taking the verses out of order. God, in His mercy, stopped the angel of death because of His love for His people, and in response to that mercy David sacrificed animals as a thanksgiving offering. Stone also uses the words of Job's friends to back up a point, later points out how God refuted those friends, without pointing out the very Scripture he uses, God condemned. Stone is also convinced that there is more power for Christians at three am each day or during a full moon. Maybe, maybe not, that's up for debate, but when Stone misuses Scripture, it makes me, as a reader, question his other beliefs. There is some solid advice here, and I am glad that I read the book, because I intend to use that advice, but readers who aren't familiar with Scripture should examine closely Stone's statements. The Bible says that we should weigh everything to see if it lines up with Scripture. Not everything Stone says does so.
Y'all this book right here....THIS book right here took me a minute (literally over a year and a half probably 2 yeara) to finish. When I started this book I wasn't ready to read it on a spiritual level the first few chapters 😳 shook me. So I put it down and left it there. Then I went though life situations. Through all of that I am able to finish this book TODAY and be closer in tune with myself on a more secure spiritual level. This book hits home to ME on a very personal, spiritual and relatable levels. A very interesting and mind opening read. #booklover #book8outof50 #mymentalgetawayisreading
This book is not terrible. I put it in the realm of a large number of books my wife picks up at different churches or places that are being given away or sold at a discount that she will never read, but I do.
There is worthwhile information within the text, but I think the title is a bit more grand than the actual text. It was better than I expected as most of these "Christian Books" are just so bad.
The book, "Purging Your House, Pruning Your Family Tree" by Perry Stone tells how people can get rid of evil spirits in your house. In the novel, it tells you ways to avoid negative spirits from messing with your life. The author gives you advice if you bring accursed things into your home or having a family history of abuse and addiction.
This book is long over due. Though there is much out there regarding the deliverance movement this book by far surpasses them all. I am most impressed with the fact that Perry Stone doesn’t just give a list of prayers but rather approaches this as a lesson in the spirit world. I think too often there is a great divide in believers – those who jump off deep into the spiritual realm without understanding it and those who just want to act as if there is not spiritual world. Either of these approaches is detrimental to the one doing so – One leads a person into a place of weakness, for denying that the enemy is there does not cause him to go away, while the other acts in pride and often without the full covering of Christ, taking on more that he is able. This book explores the implications of generational curses, familiar spirits and spiritual manifestations. Although this very thing is what will cause many conservatives to put this book back on the shelf I would encourage that person to pick it up – they may be the one most in need of this very book. IF you have ever wondered why there are certain things you seem to battle more than others, or why you seem prone to certain things. IF you are looking at your family and wondering how you can change from the path set out, how you can be free from all that garbage. This is the book for you. I learned so much…In fact my FaceBook page was filled over the last few weeks with little quotes from this book. This is a wonderful, life changing book. I will be adding it to one that I recommend over and over in the ministry field and one that I will revisit often.
I admit, because of the title I wanted this to be a ridiculously bad book. Unfortunately, it's not. If you believe, like Perry Stone does, the evil spirits can directly influence your life, then the book will fall perfectly into that category, though I can't say that it will be much help since I don't fall into that camp.
If you don't and you want a funny read, this still won't work. Stone misquotes scripture and uses some strange logic, such as blaming modern families like the Kennedys for their forefather's sins, literally, a belief not held by most Christian group. At best you realize that Stone has some very strange, not scripturally-compliant ideas.
If you think the entire thing is a joke, the best you'll get are the personal anecdotes scattered throughout, such as how a man was once given a carved walking stick, then fell ill, and recovered when the evil stick was gone. Not detailed enough to be fun.

I will use an analogy to describe my experience with this book. At the onset, it felt like someone on 100km/hr cruise control riding on a lonely smooth highway. The velocity is neither too fast nor too slow, just okay. I wasn't impressed overall, but every now and then, Perry makes salient and important points. And I'd say, "okay lets keep going, maybe I will bump into something that will be really important and life-changing."
And I did!
The last chapter or two was a gold mine!
Terry shared from an experience he had in 1978 that lasted for 6 months. He was being bombarded by invisible spiritual forces and he didn't know how to deal with it until he met one Jim Angle who was able to help him. The entire information he shared around this story made my day!
Oh Perry! Thank you so much for sharing! It dovetailed into my experience and now I have found more peace.
80% into the book, I had already made up my mind that it will be a 4 star. Not anymore. Highly recommended!
I love all of Perry Stone’s writing. This is no exception. In this book, Perry talks about things in your family line or house that may be affecting you and others living there. This was a great read and had some very good insights. I loved the chapter where he talked about the 4th watch of the night, 3am to 6am. I myself have experienced this enigma for many years. Finally it has been answered by Perry. This book is well worth the money and time. Happy Reading!
I originally purchased this to read about generational curses, and this book definitely gave me some different insights into possible spiritual warfare. I would probably give this 3.5 stars if able just because it did make me think (even when I didn't agree with the author's viewpoint). While I did find some of his ideas interesting, I found myself getting bored with some sections so it took me quite awhile to finally finish this.
Just finished this book after a year of reading. I have become a slow reader. It has good advice and good insight like most other books by Perry Stone. The only thing keeping it from five stars is the fact that some of the personal stories have been told in other books and I get tired of hearing the same story once.
Perry Stone is one of the best out there! i have watched him on tv for years and own a couple of his books and have never been disappointed with anything he has written. he lays out simple steps and plans for living a better life and how to fight spiritually against satans attacks that come against you and your family.
Why settle & live in defeat all your life, when you can pick up your god-giving spiritual authority over the evil rulers of this world and make the decision to live the life God intended for you all along. Insightful, Informative, Encouraging, Liberating!!!
Very powerful and insightful. The stories, especially of the Kennedy's were extremely enlightening. Some of the ideas are a little extreme, but these are extreme days! Chew on the meat, spit out the bones... But read this book if you want more tools to help you win in the spiritual combat we face!
just a bit of american history and personal stories. Stone is influenced so much by Jewish culture that he plasters all his books with it. Its lame and predictable and this book is not that great as it could be.
This information was the next step in my spiritual growth. The practical application for my life was a God ordained encounter. I love how I can count on God to lead me to lead me to the next revelation. Thank you Jesus!
Interesting read. I do believe in supernatural battles occurring. This book has a lot of interesting theories about things pertaining to spiritual forces. some chapters were better than others and he states he did a lot of research. I would like to know more about that research.
Somethings might start small, however, if God is present in them it will outlive the initiator. 'The good seed of God's Word that dwells in you and you continually planting into the hearts and minds of your own family will outlive you..' Happy planting and the Holy Spirit will bring the harvest.
