The Phantom Light

Rate this book
A beautiful, young girl… caught in a trap of deceit.

When Anne goes to Lost Lake to live with old Mrs. Burton, she walks into a web of terror. Someone sends Anne threatening messages and locks her in a wardrobe, setting a fire near it. And a mysterious light flashes across the lake at night, frightening Mrs. Burton.

Who’s behind it all? Handsome Reed, Mrs, Burton’s strange nephew? Hunter, who prefers to hide in his cabin in the woods? George Revard, their angry neighbour?

Anne understands just one thing - someone is trying to frighten her or Mrs. Burton… to death.

Young me really liked this book. I’d probably have given it four stars, but me now? Zero stars if I could.

* Helpless protagonist
* Dreamy, though stubborn, love interest
* Moody brother of love interest (with a troubled past)
* Creepy house
* Insta-love

All that and more has me shaking my head over this stupid book. At least it was a quick read.

This was one of my favorite books as a younger teen. It has clean romance, suspense and mystery all in one great read. I loved to take it with me when I went camping, and would read it by the campfire for extra "atmosphere"! I am so glad I kept it all these years, now my niece can read it when she gets a bit older :)
