China Doll by Sunny
When Rand and Anna meet in the lush heat of an Indonesian hotel, it's strictly one night only for two strangers looking to banish the ghosts in their pasts. But more than their skin is bared when they come together in the tropical heat, and before long they're aching for more.

Tempted by Jami Alden
Friends as well as coworkers, Lauren and Tony have maintained a strict hands-off policy with each other--until an out-of-town party gives them an excuse to share a hotel room. And when they do, their clothes come off--and the new rule is definitely hands on.

Hot Wired by Valerie Martinez
Spending a summer in San Francisco before starting her career, Lola is looking for fun. And when she meets the driver of a fire-engine red pickup--a guy with plenty of muscle under his own hood--he finds herself in for the hottest, hardest ride of her life.

Two outta three ain’t bad…

“China Doll” - Although a little rough in places, the author, Sunny, created engaging characters that pull you into the story. Anna, having been used and abused, was looking for someone to help exorcize the bad memories of her ex. Rand was looking for someone to have some fun with, wanting to pass the time. Rand got more than he bargained for when he fell in love with her, LOL! I’ve read the author before, and she’s really good.

“Tempted” - I’ve never read Jami Alden before; you can bet I’ll be reading her again! Her characters were very believable, some of them even quirky and making you laugh. The plot turned from a simple “I need to bring a date so no one bugs me about being single” to a full blown sexual relationship. I really liked how the characters had already known each other for a while, and how, even after the agreement that everything would go back to normal, there was no going back. Especially when one had the other for the other - and vice versa. A really good read! One teeny-tiny thing that I was disappointed about: They never used anything in the “gift basket” in the hotel room. *frown* Too bad. I was looking forward to that.

“Hot Wired” - I’ve never read the author before, and I’m not sure if I’ll ever read her again. Her story was filled with stereotypes, her characters appear shallow - very much so. And they appeared rather … high-school’ish. And while, I’ll admit, she knows how to write a really hot sex scene, that was about all that was going for the story.

All in all, I’m glad I picked this book up, and encourage you to do the same.

WORD OF CAUTION: Sexually Explicit!!!

I read this for Sunny's story, "China Doll," which was fairly enjoyable, if dragged a little longer than I really wanted to read. Jami Alden's "Tempted" was also engaging---fun and breezy, a perfect introduction to the anthology just as Sunny's story was the perfect end. But Valerie Martinez's story...well, bizarre is probably the best way to describe it.

More about lust than love---an odd fit, considering the other two stories in the collection---it reads less like a romance and more like some of the final projects I encountered while completing my degree in English writing. It overflows with irrelevant descriptors, features a heroine who exists more to present a window into an ethnicity rather than into a woman's heart, and wanders with distressing regularity into peculiar statements like, "It would make me drink too much because I couldn't trust the feeling of being this alive." What? Perhaps Ms Martinez's Creative writing degree from Barnard College is the problem, but I can't help feeling she'd be better off writing contemporary fiction or memoir about the Chicano experience than erotic romance.

WARNING : THIS BOOK HAS MATURE CONTENT AND MIGHT BE NOT SUITABLE FOR PEOPLE UNDER 21

can't remember when I read this, but, HOLY SMOKIN HAWT COVER!!!!!!!! *LOL*

Just read Chinese Doll by Sunny . The setting take place at Medan, Indonesia. Yep, that's my country even I'm not go to Medan yet :)

I can't remember what the story, just the woman is older than man, she is Chinese, but look young (the beauty of us, the Asian people, we forever young ;) ) , despite she 10 years older. They have one night stand at Medan, but the woman left the man, and then the story move to America...

I think I will read this again, and read the other stories, so I can write a better review :)

I DID enjoy skin on skin. My fave author of the bunch was Sunny, I am partial b/c I have read her before 2nd was Jamie A. then Valerie M. I liked how each author had a different style and took time to develop each story/character even tho they were short. The sex scenes were either frequent and short or longer and more intense, so a little or both whoever likes them both ways. Me? I don't mind waiting a bit and getting a nice long love scene. It was enjoyable and I look forward to other Jamie A. books and anthologies and I've alread read other Sunny books and anthologies. This book does live up to it's cover I believe =)

Jami Alden’s Tempted was the best of the bunch with two friends crossing that tricky boundary to lovers, yet still hoping to get back to being friends after a hot’n’steamy weekend. You can guess how that one worked out.

Fun, sexy, sweet, sad, cute story that I won’t mind re-reading in the future.

If only I could say the same for Martinez’s Hot Wired and Sunny’s China Doll. Bland and boring, and Hot Wired didn’t make much sense to me.

I guess I should’ve read them first and then relish JA’s story with gusto, not let it “ruin” the rest of the anthology. ;)

Only really enjoyed Jami's story I would give that 4 stars. The other two were barely 2 stars..

I only read one of the three stories in this romantica anthology, because I happen to like the author Sunny for her erotically-charged urban fantasy series. Unfortunately, this story had nothing to do with that series. It was sexually explicit (it is erotica), but at the heart of it, the story was contemporary romance. I read the synopses of the other two stories and it's more of the same. If you love contemporary romance, but wish the love scenes weren't "off camera", this book might be for you.

Awesome short story's. 1st story "tempted" by jami alden is connected to "Taste of honey" about the Donovan brother. Which really should be read 1st before this book. Still really good stand alone book. Middle book ok short and easy to read by Valerie Martinez. Last story is by Sunny "china doll" is awesome and follows Chinatown which is about Anna's daughter. Loved every story.

Three stories, only the first one was any decent. Both the second and third tried to be too literary. The heroine in the second one was pretty stupid. And I couldn't even finish the third.

Tempted: 5 stars
Hot hot hot! A friendship, a bit of pretend, and some truths that were hard to admit. Oh, and a former porn-star mother!

Hot-Wired: 2.5 stars
This story started out okay, and was reasonable to about half way. Then things turned topsy-turvy, the story swung wildly from one scenario to another, and the last sex scene was yuck. Now I'm left with a bitter taste in my mouth and a bunch of regrets.

China Doll: 3.5 stars
Oh, it hurts to give Sunny so few stars. But I do it because of the red flag behaviour from the guy towards the end. That's not love, that's control. The story was good most of the way through, but the ending killed it for me.

I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. I had never read anything by any of the authors and enjoyed being able to "try them out" without buying full lenght books.

Tempted by Jami Alden: 5 Stars

This story is my favorite of them it has it all: Love, Romance, Hot Sex, Should of stayed lost EX's and a Porn Star Momma to round it off. Great story, I will be adding Jami Alden to my watch list and be looking for more of her books to try.

Hot Wired by Valerie Martinez: 2 1/2 Stars

Ok this was my least favorite of them all. I actually set this story aside several times trying to get thru it and concidering how short it is that is saying something. The story line really didn't do it for me at all and was not enjoyable to read it just didn't flow smoothly...and there is NO Romance in this story. Just pure brainless sex...by one soon to be a teacher ...that enjoys masterbating while men fight over her.... Not an author I am likely to pick up again.

China Doll by Sunny: 3 1/2 Stars

Highly enjoyabe and the sweetest story of the three. Good way to end the book. Sunny is an author I would like to try again.

11 stars total giving me a 3.66 rating for this book. Guess I'm rounding sup to a 4.

Only rating Tempted by Jami Alden & Hnt Wired by Valerie Martinez.

Tempted - 5 Stars

I absolutely loved this one. It was cute, sexy and steamy.
Tony and Lauren are best friends, they work together, watch ESPN together, etc. They both have strong sexual feelings for each other but they are afraid of ruining their relationship so they never do anything about it. But one weekend trip, and a 'fake' relationship could change everything.

I loved it, sooo much. I'm mad this is an anthology and that I read the second book. Honestly, I tried to read the third and it couldn't keep my interest.

Hot Wired - 2 Stars

It was horrible. I think that's all I can say. If you really really want to read this, then go for it but I highly recommend you don't.

No HEA, no plot whatsoever, nothing that makes it worthwhile. Nada. Zippo .

The three stars I gave are solely for Tempted by Jami Alden. The second one sucked and only brought this book down.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There are three stories in this book. Tempted by Jami Alden was good! I have read another story by Sunny that worked nicely with China Doll that she has in this book. Unfortunately it was a lot of detail, granted details are good but this got almost boring. Still a good story. Lastly there was Hot Wired by Valerie Martinez, bad. Seriously, it was tough to follow, unrealistic, had a gang thug and a james dean type. The story summary on the back was false advertising. Took me too long to get through these stories but overall 2/3 it waa a decent book.

only read jami alden's tempted so far. seemed like a story out of high school novels with a very worn out plot wherein two people pretend to be girlfriend/boyfriend. Plus the characters are two good friends that simply don't want to complicate their friendship. its not badly written but its also not very creative. will not read it again.

Liked the first story "Tempted" (3.5 stars) about co-workers becoming lovers, really didn't like the second one "Hot Wired" (1 star) that had some bad stereotyping in it, and the third one "China Doll" was okay (2.5 stars), the sex scene was very sensual, but the way they meet again a bit weird and not elaborated enough.

I really enjoyed the first story. The second story had some really good parts and some not so good parts. The third story- the one by Sunny- just didn't grab me, and I had a hard time getting into it.
