This book was extremely helpful to me in understanding what happened to my brain when I fell downstairs and got whiplash and a concussion, and then PCS. It has strategies for every situation one will have to deal with when recovering from a TBI, plus a chapter for family members to help them understand how they can help. It is a bit dated, for example, everyone has a cellphone now, which means we are less likely to get lost when driving (although I’ve done it). I started skipping over her journals because I can only read for a short time, and I wanted more information. The topics are extremely validating—for example it was great to learn I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t understand jokes anymore, or who got overwhelmed in a grocery stores. I’m not cured, but this book helped me get better.
