I read this books first chapter a year before it was completed and remembered telling this author that she needed to hurry up and finish this novel.
I am so glad that she did. The story hooked me from the beginning and although it had a few timeline flaws, it was a GREAT first book from this up and coming author. If you haven't read it, you are missing out.
Set in Baltimore, it takes you on a ride you will not forget
This book started off really interesting. I love a good romance mystery, however, I grew more disinterested as I was reading. The MC was annoying and all of the characters sucked except for Hill. Why would she constantly keep putting people she allegedly cared about in danger. She was very careless with their lives. The constant checking up on her trash ex didn't make any sense. I kept waiting for her to let him go because he wouldn't do any of that stuff for her. The MC, her mom, Rev, and Rev's wife were the worst.
I think this author has potential but the book needs better development and pacing. I've read a good romance mystery by another author and it was really good because she didn't try to throw too many crazy twists and turns in it. This book was like a lifetime movie or a Tyler Perry show. The layout of the book also needs improvement. There were no spaces between paragraphs, no indents, and you couldn't tell who was talking. When different people are talking you have to start a new paragraph and identify who is speaking.
I recommend giving it a try but be warned about the stuff above.
I'm not an avid reader of romantic suspense but after reading author Deliah Lawrence's book, I believe I could learn to like this genre. I truly enjoyed the pace, the story line and I understood the main character Deidre shutting off her pain and throwing herself into solving her friend's murder. Reading this book was how I imagine a high-speed chase on a motorcycle. Lots of twists and turns, surprises and near misses until you arrive at the end. I enjoyed immensely and would like to read more of her books!
This was a great read. If this was Ms. Lawrence first book, she did a great job. I will highly recommend this book to any one who loves a good read. The story was well put together from beginning to the end. Anyone looking for a good read you will love this one, take my word. Hope to hear more from you girl.😀. Keep up the good work.
So impressed with the writing and it is a page turner. Our sorority, AKA, GLR has a monthly book discussion and Gotta Let It Go, Deliah Lawrence, is our December book. Excellent book choice and anticipating our book discussion, which will be joined by Ms. Lawrence, via ZOOM.
Gotta let it go kept my interest from beginning to end. She was a little too careless to me when it came to her life and the life of others. Overall, it was a good book!!
HIghly recommended and suspenseful and I did not want the book to end. Thank you so much for answering questions and providing us with different views. Your presence only enhanced our book discussion for our Ivy Vine Book Club. Looking forward to the next book.
