From the author of The Wrong Bride and The Temporary Wife comes an angsty and steamy billionaire arranged marriage romance
Faye is the last woman Dion Windsor wants to be near, let alone marry… yet there’s no escaping the alluring pianist he’s been engaged to since they were children.
For years, he made his unwillingness known, but his attempts to keep Faye at a distance fade to dust at the sight of her with another man — mere months before their wedding.
One look at her, and he realises he’s done running. Time is up, and whether she likes it or not, she’s his.
Or she could be, if the secrets he keeps didn’t hold the power to destroy her.
Publisher's Note: Each book in the Windsors series features a different Windsor sibling, and as such, each book can be read as a standalone. The Unwanted Marriage contains a guaranteed happily-ever-after and no cheating.
Catharina Maura is a USA Today and Amazon #1 bestselling author. She writes angsty, fast-paced contemporary romance novels that break your heart before they lead you to a hard-won happily ever after.
Cat lives in Hong Kong with her husband and a dozen houseplants that all have names. When she isn't daydreaming about future characters, she's exploring the world and seeking out new adventures.
2.5⭐️ honestly all these stars go to Dion, I loved that filthy man so much!! But other than that this book gave me nothing, it just felt so repetitive and boring I’m pausing this series for now!
“Take my cock like the good girl you are, Faye” I didn’t love this as much as I thought I would 🥹the characters seemed to have different personalities from the previous books? I didn’t expect Faye to be a doormat for half of the book and I thought he was already obsessed with her? Wdym he’ll try to make the best out of the situation 🧍🏻♀️ The OM drama is what kept me going 🤭 but even then I was confused by Faye’s feelings? She seemed to want to please them both at times. It was all good until the spoiler alert “I held you when you were a baby” scene 😭😭😭 I found it so weird but it might just be me. Anyways, I loved Faye’s character development, her family deserved so much worse. Also it might just be me but I hate his grandma so much, why does she meddle with everyone’s personal business? Get a life??
———————————————————————————— THANK FUCK I’M DONE 🙏🏼 anyways can the grandma die already 🥱
4.5 ⭐️ I mean I don’t even know where to begin here, with every book I read in the series I think surely they all can’t be THAT good, but yet here we are, that’s EXACTLY WHAT THESE ARE
I’m in a book slump and struggling to click with anything right now. This has OM/triangle drama I’m not in the mood for, so I’m setting it aside for now.
This poor heroine went from the frying pan to the fire when she married Dion. She was afraid (AFRAID) to marry Dion because she thought he was like her lying, manipulative, controlling, abusive father. She was correct 😐
No, Dion didn’t physical abuse her but he threatened physical assault plenty. He gave her more freedoms but he also used the fact that she used some of that freedom against her. Her fears were completely founded and Dion proved it. The sad thing is that our heroine was sooo abused she thought he was better than her father.
I fully believe that Maura tried to write Dion like one of Sam Marino’s characters. Sam can write a morally corrupt, gray, manipulative character that we all love, Maura can’t. Dion was suppose to be the “fixer” of the family BUT all he did was kept secret. Problem is that he just wasn’t that dark. Yeah, he had some darkness but it came across as fake. Example - Hannah. Remember Hanna right? Ravens sister/Ares ex fiancé from the first book. She lied and manipulated Ares and essentially tricked him into being with her for 5 years and hurt Raven on a repeated basis? Yeah her. All Ares did was blackball her from acting. She was till living the lavish life in another country (I’m not even going to go into how weak Ares is), well, Dion tracked her down to “punish” her. His punishment was to make her a maid in one of the family friends household. His grand idea was to humiliate her by putting her into that type of position - never mind how the author totally equated the position that multiple people have a survive on as being “humiliating”. The best kicker though is that in Dions vast wisdom he put Hannah right back front and center into Ares and Ravens life. How do we know? Ares tells Dion that he noticed Hannah serving in the FRIEND OF THE FAMILIES home! Hannah is in a place where Ares and Raven will visit often. Awesome 😐 Carter or even Dare would have made Hannah disappear permanently NOT put her in back into their lives. Dion just didn’t have it in him to do what he needed to do to her because it would hurt Raven if she ever found out so instead he decides to expose Raven to her on a normal basis. Great best friend.
Overall, I just couldn’t get behind the characters being together. There were multiple things that left s bad taste in my mouth- Dion and Faye being engaged for 20+ years but Dion only being celibate for the last 4, Faye’s life being constructed to be the perfect wife for Dion, Faye being repeatedly physically punished every time Dion was seen with a different woman since she was 12, Dion promising physical assault if Faye be in any form of contact with the man she was dating(double standards much), Dion roughly taking Faye’s virginity, Dion losing his shit when Faye purchased a cottage for her to retreat to and to have something for herself and saying “she didn’t choose him” even though he understood that she had been financially abused and had NOTHING of her own her whole life, Dion giving Faye divorce papers because she purchased something of her own (the cottage), Faye being weak repeatedly, Dion being manipulative and abusive repeatedly.
Oh and let’s not forget Grandma. She fully acknowledged how she messed up with Luca and Viv so she allows Dion to file for divorce. However, I don’t thing she learned anything as her next move is to force Zane to marry someone he hates and has stated he is actively working to destroy. Yeah, she’s changed 🙄
This is gonna be short, i'm just about to skip the books and read the last one. or maybe i won't because these books made me lose interest in READING temporarily 😭 seriously i don't even care about the cute scenes because NO. IT WAS NOT WORTH IT.
This was so boring! i was excited at the start, i thought faye would be sassy or something and only acted distant because she hated him for the arranged marriage and it was the same for dion. but NAH.
⌞ Dion Windsor & Faye Matthews ⌝ ᯓ 32-22
I sympathized with her because of the domestic abuse she was facing, but then how she treated her lover (no choice there), and then being a goody two-shoes and saying I DON'T WANT REVENGE (tho they still took it), was grating on my nerves. simply put, SHE WAS BORING.
dion wasn't even good. his darkness or whatever, mixed with his traumas, was making me feel nothing. i didn't even care about him. this series is way too insta-lovey because even tho they say i love you after 200 pages, they’re quickly obsessed without proper relationship building. it's just, THEY HAVE NO CHOICE because the fucking grandma arranges their marriage.
it's 2024 or an advanced tech world in the books, yet they're letting that old wanko arrange marriage for them. why? BECAUSE SHE GIVES THEM INHERITANCE. excuse me, i'm not a lawyer, but shouldn't they get their parents' shares and money? they must've received them, yet this old bulldozer always acts all high and mighty playing cupid, which only makes me hate her more!
FUCK THE GRANNY 👵🏻 😭😭✋🏻✋🏻😂
and Silas Sinclair is Christian Harper of this series. FFS stop mentioning him in each and every scene! If there's any problem, they call Silas. If they want to find someone, they call Silas. If they want to breathe, eat, do anyfuckingthing, they call Silas. STAHPPP.
This book had me blushing, squealing, giggling, kicking my feet, twirling my hair, grinning, screaming, crying and more… it was just absolute perfection and I didn’t expect anythings less from miss Maura! She never disappoints.
I don’t know what she put into this book because I was ADDICTED!! Like was there drugs in this book because I couldn’t stop for the life of me!! And I enjoyed each and every second of it!! It was just everything from beginning to end. Nothing was missing, it gave everything it needed to give AND MORE!!!
Dion would have to be my favourite Windsors man! He was just so so sooo well written!! Like his backstory and trauma literally had me in tears and he was just so broken inside that it had my heart ACHING!! The way he was also morally grey at times had me swooning as well. He was just so perfect I couldn’t get enough of him.
Whenever he opened his mouth, I swear my heart skipped a freaking beat! He fr knows how to sweet talk and charm a person. I most definitely fell in love with him within the first few pages! He just hits different. Idk how miss Maura did it but she set my expectations in men even higher than before!!
Like the way he treated Faye was exactly how I want to be treated in a relationship!! He was so sweet and gentle to her in the beginning, reassuring her and showing her how committed he is how pretty much obsessed he is with her in the best way possible! He literally treated her like a goddamn goddess!!! I literally wanted to Faye so badly throughout the course of the book…
And the way he was obsessed with her?!?! God help me… literally changing his favourite colour to her eye colour, getting over his hatred of listening to the piano because she is a professional pianist, learning everything about her, supporting her in every aspect possible… just being the most perfect husband ever!!!!
I also adore Faye! She’s literally like beautiful, fragile and delicate flower in spring. Just alluring, untouchable and unique. I loved her character. She is gorgeous inside and out and she did not deserve the torment her father put her through. I’m glad that she stood up for herself at the end and asked for help and finally got her happily ever after!
The way she also supported and cared for Dion warmed my freaking heart!! The way she comforted him during flights because of his fear of flying and when he had those nightmares and always reassured him of how much she actually loved him was so beautiful… made me love her even more!!
Overall, this book has absolutely no flaws whatsoever and I can NOT wait for the next book in this series!! I’m predicting a second chance romance and I’m more than excited to read it!!
my friends and family haven’t seen me in a few days because i’ve been too busy DEVOURING this book. also, my line of vision is currently blurry due to the unshed tears on the waterline of my eyes so i’m sorry if there are any typos in this review.
the found family trope was so prominent within faye and dion’s story and i loved it so, so much. faye finally finding people that truly cherish, love, and support her was such a beautiful thing to read about. dion was incredibly encouraging of faye perceiving herself as more than just a product of his desires.
the bed of roses, dressing room, and piano scenes are permanently etched into the skull of my brain! i’m still not sure whether it was me or my kindle that was overheating during those scenes.
There are so many things wrong in this book, so help me... same issues as with the other books. >>> Constant recycling of the same fears and insecurities by the MCs, in the most annoying manner possible. >>> Constant recycling of sex scenes and dirty talk, down to the exact same expressions. It's like these Windsor guys have all been to the same sex-ed class for the rich and spoiled. >>> And the smirks... what is it with these people and smirks? Everybody smirks in every book. Even the grandmother! >>> Cheezy dialogue and OTT drama all the way!
Lets start off by saying this is a Cinderella retelling where Cinderella/Faye is controlled and abused by her father, manipulated and gaslight by her stepmother and stepsisters and neglected by her husband to be, Dion. He suddenly becomes interested when he catches her with a boyfriend a few months before their arranged marriage date. He then proceeds to be a bit of a caveman and oscilates between sweet and understanding and annoying smuck.
He even goes as far as to tell her she has until the wedding to forget her boyfriend. When she doesn't, he is shocked. Wft?
He promises sexual punishment if she isn't faithful. Again, wtf?
His brothers beat his father in law to a pulp, like thugs, when Faye confesses the abuse she has been subjected to her entire life.
Dion totally creeps me out by constantly asking her to be "his good girl". 27 times!
To be honest, I didn't believe the love story simply because Faye seemed to be so well conditioned by her father to do his bidding that I could not believe she really had a conscious choice in this relationship. It was the most unbalanced relationship of this series and it was disturbing to read about it.
The Windsors series >>> The Wrong Bride: 1* >>> The Temporary Wife: 2* >>> The Unwanted Marriage: 1.5*
I loved this book with my whole heart. Dion and Faye are one of my favorite couples in this series so far (besides Ares and Raven ofc). Their chemistry from the very beginning was amazing and I looooved the tension build up! Of course tho, this wouldn't be an amazing Catharina Maura novel without the spice. 😌 However, this book has a bit more cringey spice than previous books. I don't know what about it threw me off, but it didn't all settle well.
The one thing that I love about CM books is that every book has a different main trope. Some I'm a huge fan of, like the first book, and others I'm not, like the second book. However, I enjoy all of these books to a high level and the plot is so engaging and it keeps you invested the entire time. This book had a bit more of a slower beginning, but I loved it nonetheless. I will also say that the topics covered in this book are the darkest of the series so far. Please read the trigger warnings because this has quite a bit of family DV. If you can stomach that, it really leaves behind a beautiful message. I am so beyond proud of Faye for her growth in this book. It was so lovely to read and it made my heart feeling full and had me just cheering to myself.
Overall, I truly do love this series with my whole heart. These books are spicy and fun and will make your heart explode, but they covey dark topics and heavy truths that can be hard to stomach at points. That being said, I could not recommend this series enough. I think everyone should experience the magic that are these books. ❤️
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This one is for those of us that let life pass us by under the guise of doing the right thing. Keep making those difficult choices that you know you must, until your waking hours are better than your sweetest dreams.
I missed this universe I'm so glad to be back 😙❤️🔥
This is now the third book with the same story about the grandmother interfering because she was doing what she thought was best and then realizing she’s wrong. How was enforcing a marriage with a literal 6 year old and never checking in on her keeping her safe? In every book there’s been comments about the grandmother basically being able to tell what’s going on so for her to not have seen the abuse is insane.
This is again the third book where the girl has the same insecurities. Can we not think of a different struggle for them to have?? Also i hated how little of a backbone Faye had.
I absolutely hated the references to him and Faye when she was a literal baby and those scenes being followed up with them getting frisky. Like what??? It could of been a tender moment instead of sexually charged.
Overall, i expected wayyyy more from this story and i was so looking forward to it. I don’t think I’ll continue the series if the plot is a copy paste from prior books.
"Now that I know about the fire she keeps hidden deep within, nothing less will do. Before the night is over, I'll make those beautiful blue irises spit fire."
This book was so good and Dion was so different than I was expecting him to be. Faye was soft, selfless, emotional and demure but also smart and strong. Their story was perfect with a little darkness and additional angsty and left me feeling speechless by the end. I loved how Dion genuinely cared about Faye's feelings and witnessing Faye eventually fall for him because of that felt heartwarming! Dion was simply so dreamy that I couldn't help but fall in love with him and Faye was pure and innocent in every way possible. Catharina successfully conveyed both the characters feelings which made them raw and real in my eyes. Since the minute I started reading the book, I didn't want to put it down. It left me feeling captivated and I can't wait for more to come from the Windsor world!
Speechless. No notes. This man is unreal. Just impeccable devotion vibes. 💗💗
“I’m a mere mortal, incapable of resisting her divinity, and she must know that.”
You know that feeling of butterflies your stomach when you read something really dark or dirty. I had that all throughout this book AND IT WASN’T EVEN THAT KINKY!!
Okay, so Dion & Faye have been engaged since childhood buttt didn’t really interact. He always felt guilty for the death of her mom & she was living with abusive father (I wanted to kill him). It’s not until recently Dion took notice of our gorgeous Faye Darling AND OMG DID HE TAKE NOTICE!! This book starts off with him finding out Faye has had a secret boyfriend for months and he catches them on a date 👀 when I tellllllll you I was giggling with my feet up
💛 age gap
💛 THE PRAISE with devotion feels
💛 he talks her through it!!
💛 arranged marriage
I CAN’T EVEN WRITE THIS REVIEW WITHOUT BLUSHING! Unforgettable for me…when he is already crawling on his knees with praise for her but then says “you want to see the real me? My dark side?” babes I thought this was it! The spice was giving everrrrrrything 🌶️
Favorite scene: wow unexpected but definitely the very spicy bj in front of the ex boyfriend!!!
The writing style is a bit different with the book only showing scenes where they interact. Even when Dion has to go work abroad the next chapter is a time jump to when he comes back. I prefer to only read about the main characters and get to ‘meat’ of the story but don’t expect many side plots.
age gap (22f / 32m) opposites attract HE FALLS FIRST man obsessed ✨ possessive mmc virgin fmc size difference PRAISE!! found family HEA
This was so gross 😭😭😭 big tall billionaire man forced to marry tiny fragile pianist, big tall billionaire man is so jealous he breaks tiny fragile girl’s phone, but it’s romantic because he gets her a new one. I hate it here, I don’t need to read the script of a telenovela en 2023.
“You are both my torment and my salvation, my muse and my damnation. For you, I’ll willingly go to the depths of hell".
Okay this is my favorite in the series so far Dion and Faye were fun, spicy, and not as cringy as I expected lol. If you want a quick read in an interconnected series filled with a bit of angst, miscommunication, arranged marriage, and close-knit family and friends then you should read this one. There are some silly/cringy moments in this but overall I liked the character development that both main characters had and all the piano moments in this. I also liked seeing other characters from previous books and all the other couples. There are a lot of steamy scenes though so be prepared.
another booktok hype failure , I hated everything about this book from the beginning but it kept getting worse. Everything in this book is so repetitive, from “Dion is smirking” and “my eyes widened in shock” ALSO “i murmur- he murmured” please stop.
The mmc, Dion? He’s so fucking full of himself. He’s so controlling and possessive and not IN THE GOOD WAY. It’s not dark romance, you’re writing romcom and the guy is downright toxic and red flag.
And this girl? Faye, she has no personality whatsoever. I understand all things she went through during her childhood and all but learn to stand up for yourself, yeah? She annoyed me to death and I literally skipped so many pages to complete this book.
And that meddling grandmother, she better needs to have some good excuse for the all lives she’s destroying left and right.
And smut? Initially I liked it but then again it got boring.
Overall I hated it , don’t recommend it all and if you still want to read it be my guest.
No le tenía tanta fe a esta serie y se volvió una adicción, el segundo es mi libro favorito.
Ellos han estado comprometidos desde que eran niños, aunque nunca han sido cercarnos, sino cordiales, pero ya se les acabó el tiempo y su fecha de matrimonio ha sido fijada. Dion tiene que dejar de huir y regresar de Londres y Feye tiene que casarse con un hombre al que conoce muy poco que es frío y distante por ella y por si fuera poco tiene que alejarse del hombre del que está enamorada.
Me gustó sobre todo la primera mitad, de como ellos se fueron conociendo, como creció su atracción y su deseo, sobre todo como ella fue cambiando y floreciendo gracias a la confianza que le daba Dion. Ella sufre de maltrato intrafamiliar y siempre estar a las alturas de la expectativas, fue criada únicamente para ser la esposa de Dion y nunca ha sido realmente ella.
Dion por otra parte también tiene sus traumas y culpas, me hubiera gustado conocer más de su lado Dark y su comportamiento moralmente no correcto.
El final le quedó a deber, me faltó drama, sentí que no pasó nada y el conflicto final fue muy meh.
No me entusiasmas el siguiente libro, aunque es un hate to lovers y matrimonio arreglado y una lo va a leer.
why is dion the family avenger? and no offense he’s not even that damaged so i rlly don’t appreciate his “omg fayyyyyeeee i’m a monster rawr 😜, you won’t be able to love me”. And he literally is so dumb to blame himself for his parents and her moms death!!!! omg he’s insufferable THEY DIDNT DIE BECAUSE OF YOU!!! not everything is about you. and you’re telling me that faye saying “baaaeee it’s not your fault” was more effective than the years of therapy that he had ???like that’s all it took for him to believe he didn’t kill their parents????? are you serious ??? and omg don’t even get me started on their “breakup”!!! so pointless like bfr. are you a child ????? faye didn’t need to apologize for shit like be a man and get over it so what if she bought herself a home!!! how is that a betrayal. i hate pussy men. faye’s Stockholm syndrome rlly helped their marriage prosper.
I wasn’t expecting the themes that were in this book and how emotionally complex it was gonna be but it sure was. The past that both Dion and Faye have is so heartbreaking in both aspects, the fact that they were able to find love within all that darkness is amazing. I found myself laughing quite a lot more than I did with the first 2 books which was a pleasant surprise. This book was such a fun read and it had me hooked from beginning to end.
The only complaints I have really that makes this book a 4 star rather than a 5 is the same complaints I had with all the other Catharina Maura books. She’s gotten into a pattern of having the couple want each other sexually and then finding the love for one another. It’s getting repetitive, why make it out to be that without the two of them sleeping together they can never fall in love? It’s just getting a bit irritating now because rather than the characters getting to know each other on an emotional level and falling inlove with them as a person she makes it about lust until a damn switch flicks in the mmc’s brain that makes them want more than the fmc’s body. It’s just a preference I suppose on my part because in my eyes I’d appreciate the love and connection coming first but that’s just me I guess.
The book was still great regardless but I think I’m just ready to see something new in her books rather than the same structure.
“Don’t,” I cut her off. “Don’t you dare apologise for being real with me, for calling me out on my bullshit. You’re about to become my wife, Faye. My equal. Hearing you act your part is a fucking delight. Keep fighting me, baby. I’m loving every second of it.”
❤️Dion❤️
Dion was soooo sweet. He was so patient and gentle with her as if he immediately knew that Faye was hurting without him even having to say a word. His obsession with just seeing Faye’s eyes sparkle was so cute. And the words he said… they’d make me swoon immediately.
It was so sad to read how he felt so unlovable and undeserving of happiness over what happened to him when he was younger. You could tell how much the guilt weighed him down the moment we were first introduced to the piano, when it came full circle and he played the piano once again in the epilogue was so fulfilling. He’s just so precious
“I smirk at her, and she averts her gaze, looking awfully flustered. I think I just developed a new hobby. Making her smile makes me feel fucking high, and that blush? I already can’t wait to make her blush for me like that again. Fucking stunning.”
💙Faye💙
I honestly felt so bad for Faye the moment we found out her situation. I genuinely had no idea about it prior to reading the book so it came as a shock to me and just reading about it was horrible, she deserved so much more. To be brought up and raised a certain way just so that you can be the perfect wife for someone is disgusting, how she managed to keep her head high I’ll never know.
She’s such an innocent type of person in the sense that all she wants is freedom, her desires and goals in life aren’t anything malicious or selfish, they’re just so simple and beautiful and she deserves each and every one.
“Faye, Today is the day I stop counting down. Instead, I’ll start counting my blessings, because that’s what I hope each day with you will be.”
~Overall~
The third act in this book actually didn’t make me mad for once so I’ll take that as a win.😌
The book overall was really captivating and I find myself finishing Catharina’s books quite quickly and easily and the chemistry she creates between the main couple each time never disappoints. However this is the third time that the same structure has been made apparent: Both are forced into a marriage they don’t want - Both agree to just stay together until the 3 years are up - They end up having a physical relationship even though they “don’t have feelings for each other” - Only after they start sleeping together does the mmc realise that they need their wife to be there’s forever - third act creates drama and a divorce is made into a possibility - happy every after.
It’s just so repetitive now and I hope the next book doesn’t repeat it. I am enjoying the series though don’t get me wrong.
If I had to rank them so far it would be: The Temporary Wife, The Unwanted Marriage and then The Wrong Bride.
The book that I’m the most excited for now is Xavier and Sierra’s. I NEED IT NOW
gostei, mas não amei! senti que houve coisas que podiam ter sido retiradas e o third act breakup foi completamente desnecessário e sem sentido.
gostei muito do Dion, mas irritou-me profundamente em algumas situações também. para além disso, sinto que me estou a tornar na pessoa que mais temia: dois capítulos seguidos de smut já é demais. algumas situações em que eles simplesmente começavam a envolver-se meteram-me muita confusão, porque (????) estavam a falar de assunto sérios há 2 minutos atrás.
Worse than The worst bride? no. but better than the temporary wife ? also no .there were things that didnt make sense at all. I also hate that the previous books made it seem as it would take time for them to fall in love and it would be a slow burn when it wasn't at all. Her excusing his behavior made me mad as hell. Like that scene when he makes her s*** his c*** while her ex is watching? GROSS AND SO FUCKING WRONG. Literally eric deserved better and it that scene i was like they are totally right for one another because they both are crazy as hell!! I believe there is a correlation in that aspect in each book ... But well i could finish it so that i guess is a plus. I hate his hypocrisy and egoism and her weakness and submission. I just hate when they made them act like a puppy with no self regard for their own values and opinions. It has some good scenes yes but it wasn't enough for me to love the couple. Also i felt the family was really absent which doesn't make sense because all of the conflict revolves towards the Windsors... So to summarize it was an okay book , the second book was by far the best one and the least toxic one of the bunch.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Be careful what you ask for...kind of. There was a thread on FB about books where the h is taken for granted by her family. This more than delivered. Not only is she abused, but her dad abuses her half-sisters by doing things like kick them in the head when she doesn't deliver. Not delivering is things like the H might bring her home early. Daddy is essentially a pimp. Don't feel too sorry for the half-sisters either, they're financial vampires as well. Heroine is a little stupid.
Anyhoo, the prose isn't over;y graphic but CM certainly knew how to deliver.
There's a pretty nice, hunky OM, but the heroine didn't deserve him since she strung him along. Falling for a guy, planning to have sex with him before your arranged marriage, then crying because got caught feel sorry doesn't make you good person.
Repeat after me, child marriage/engagement is NOT a romance plot, it's abuse.
Catharina Maura is just another author who upholds patriarchy in her books and nobody will convince me otherwise. The entire premise of her arranged marriage series is so patriarchal and fucked up. I wouldn't have picked up this book if my friends hadn't convinced me but NOW, I won't trust their recommendations. She needs to really get a grip and see how problematic her books are becoming and needs to do better. Enough of women being abused only for a man to be her saviour. Stop. And more often than not, the man himself is abusing the FMC. Sometimes directly and sometimes indirectly. Weird as fuck.
Let's start with that loser ass grandma. Girl, when are you dying? I need you to die ASAP. You are nothing but a nosy little loser who upholds the patriarchy and I need you to stop ruining everyone's life. It's not a feminist move you think it is just because you're a woman.
Again, Faye's mother was another weirdo in this book. I don't care if she's dead, I'm actually not mad at all because what kinda weirdo talks about marrying her 2 year old daughter to her best friend's 12 year old son? In no world is this normal and acceptable. It's weird and it's clear she was a shitty mother. Nobody in Faye's life was good to her, ever.
Next, the plotline. It was absolutely GARBAGE. You want me to cheer for a book where a 2 year old was engaged to a 12 year old 😍 and she was abused throughout her life because of that? She has no identity, she doesn't know who she is or who she could have been because of that engagement and you want me to cheer for that? Hell nah.
Grandma said, "I knew the father would abuse her so I fixed her marriage with you so she won't get abused after 25 years" girl I know you're old but you ain't gotta be that dense? What about 25 years leading upto that marriage? And, if you really cared about Faye not being abused, just call social services? You're the 'richest family in the world' and yet you can't have some low life thrown into jail for abusing his daughter? You can't put your PI to check if she was getting abused? There's no way you didn't notice she was getting abused? When she missed all the dinners, why didn't you check on her? Loser ass excuses of a loser a woman.
Dion, I don't blame you for the child marriage thing but you're pathetic anyway. I could have liked you but you're also a misogynistic pig. Hannah ain't no saint but claiming she hurt your brother as if Ares was a saint is weird. You think abusing women makes you a badass? Your family's saviour? Nah. It doesn't. You think making her work as a maid to destroy her ego made you a hero? No. It didn't. You knew Raven wouldn't have wanted that and you couldn't respect that. It's never about family or saving people you love but always about dominance. Loser. And, you're very bad in bad, I can tell. Faye isn't experienced enough so she doesn't understand how pathetic you are but I do! Repeating same 4 lines and never shutting up oh my god STOP. It's icky and weird.
And, OH MY GOD, when he got mad at her for having another house of her own? Boy, you have NO idea what victims of abuse go through. It's not about you or trust, it's about FEAR. It's about having SOME freedom. It's about being able to do something for yourself. Dion is such a fucking manchild, ugh. Zero emotional intelligence and zero consideration or regard of his wife's post. A literal LOSER.
Faye, love, I have nothing but love for you. You deserve better than all of them combined.
Lol almost half way through the book and it’s all physical attraction and lust. When did authors stop writing mmc’s who romance their love interest?
This also feels like a copy and paste of the first two books in this series. From the possessive mmc to the dirty talk - all the mmcs are the exact same.
Also is there a reason why the author makes every fmc in this series have a bad relationship with either their mother, sister or both? Weird
