I was just scrolling through Mangafox, and I read through this story, and I just kept going and going and going and going through this story until the message, "No more chapters." came up on the screen.
I read all the volumes of this story. SO NOW AM I SUPPOSED TO REVIEW ALL OF THEM!?!?!?!
(*groan) I'm too lazy and tired!
You guys aren't going to care, but...... Theresa's Sleepy Summer Status Amount of sleep in the last 24 hours: approximately 7 hours. Usual amount of sleep: approximately 11 hours. Maximum amount of sleep: approximately 13 hours. AND SCHOOL IS STARTING IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS, which will then turn my usual amount of sleep into approximately 8 hours.
I love typing reviews, but for the rest of the volumes, I'm just...going to copy and paste this review over onto each volume. This way, not only do I type a review for each volume, I also have all of the volumes included in my 2012 read books challenge.
(*Determined to suck up any reading credit I can for that challenge!) I know. It's like I'm trying to freeload.
But anyway, while I was reading, mangafox never told me, "You have proceeded onto the next volume," or "You have began volume (4/5/6/7)." It just continued through the chapters and it DIDN'T TELL ME WHAT VOLUME I WAS ON. (Which would DEFINITELY HELP if it did!)
So I don't know what happened in what volume. I just know what happened: period.
So I guess that with this review reviewing volumes 3-7, I can say that
THERE WILL DEFINITELY BE SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW.
Locate away, if you desire. :P Or stay. IF YOU DARE.
So, if you've read this review, you've actually read 4 reviews for 4 different books all at once. OVER-ACHIEVING, LIKE A BOSS!
So anyway, you know the rated-R factors of this story that's been in the first two volumes? It's in all of this volumes. Volume 3. Volume 4. Volume 5, 6, and 7. ALL OF THEM. And there's creepy ickiness in EVERY FREAKING CHAPTER after that. I think.
Anyway, first, I should state my overall grade for the REST OF THE SERIES that I'm about to review: Two stars. And they're not...very...sparkly. I mean, the whole thing was just...okay. The romance was pretty romantic. Sort of. Kind of... Maybe it's because I freak out over rated R stuff, I mean I will freak out over those sorts of things, y'know! And there's...so much of it...in this book! (Well, in all four of these books.)
And there's also awkwardness with the characters and such.
Okay, so here goes my review. I can't remember EVERY SINGLE THING THAT HAPPENED, but I can say that I do remember quite a bit of it.
So first, the lead guy...what's his name? Shoei? The lead girl kept calling him "Prince"! Anyway, the base of the romance between them was sort of cute. I mean they were childhood friends and stuff...that's sort of cute. But you know how there are some reviews for these books that say that the male lead...GRAPED her (*again using a word that rhymes with the word I MEAN to use, but I won't say the original word because...it's awkward). It DOES sort of seem that way, I mean...it didn't LOOK like she liked it at first...
Then that guy started getting WEIRD. Like, he'd get upset or angry with her for some forgotten reason and he'd just turn his back on her and leave her. WHAT THE HECK?! Basically, he'd be romantic to her. Then he'd grape her (...), then he'd jerkily leave her, then he'd go back to her--BAH! It was all pretty confusing! If I was that girl, I'd sock the guy RIGHT ACROSS THE FACE and go, "WHAT THE HECK, MAN?! Make up your mind!" I wouldn't want to be put in a pickle like that!
As for the girl lead, she was pretty stupid. (Ehh. I think that for personal reasons, I guess. I mean, the guy was being pretty evil and scary. You'd still stay around someone like that?!) She didn't know how to stay away from dangerous guys when it was obvious! I mean, if you saw a lake with a GIGANTIC MAN-EATING ALLIGATOR swimming around in it, would you go in? MIO WOULD!
And as for the girl's brother, Hinata... HE was pretty creepy, too. He started out as this innocent dude. Then he turned out to be just as creepy as the first main lead! NOT INNOCENT AT ALL! GRAPE-IST!
And then the STORY was pretty funky too. I mean, first it pretty much confused me. So...first, Mio was related to Hinata and NOT related to Shoei. THEN Mio became related to Hinata AND Shoei. THEEEEN, Mio realized that she WASN'T related to Hinata. And THEEEEN, Mio realized that SHE WASN'T RELATED TO EITHER OF THEM!
What the heck?! Did the author MEAN to scare the fo-shizzle out of me like that?!
I mean first, Hinata started approaching Mio not JUST AS A BROTHER, but as...SOMETHING ELSE. And I was like, "OH MY GOD! INCEST, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" I mean, that would totally freak me out, too.
And I JUST LEARNED WHAT THE WORD "INCEST" MEANS...about a COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO! A relationship? WITH YO' BROTHER?! EWWWWWWWWWWWW. I've heard of cousins getting into relationships too, but THIS IS WORSE!
And THEN Mio figured out that......Shoei could be her brother!! And THAT freaked me out even more. And Shoei was like, "So what? We can still MINGLE!!! I DON'T CARE!!" And I was like, "AHHH, MORE INCEST, EWWWWWWWWW!"
And then Mio found out that Hinata WASN'T her blood related brother. And THEN she found out that Shoei WASN'T her blood related brother, either. PSYCH. So I was like, "Okay, thank god." BUT STILL. I still had that feeling inside my stomach that was still pretty freaked out by that.
I guess that's how the story went...it was one VERY VERY VERY SCARY LOVE TRIANGLE.
So 1. If you're not afraid of rated R-ness. 2. If you're not afraid of incest. 3. If you're not afraid of these characters.
AND you want a romance manga to read...then I guess.....I'd recommend this one to you............
OTHERWISE STAY FAR, FAR, FAR AWAY! This story is wacky. Just WACKY I TELL YOU!
(Coming from the little girl that freaks out over rated R-ness, incest, and all of those characters.)
And I don't know HOW I kept reading. I guess it was...a LITTLE suspenseful. But you guys get my gist, right?

I can sum up my disgust in four words; Rape.Is.Not.Love.
Reasons why this isn't something you should be finding romantic: 1. It's not romantic when the leading man consistently tries to rape and own the main character. 2. It's not okay for the main character's brother - they grew up together as siblings their entire lives, they're still family - tries to rape her, and own her. 3. It's not okay when the gardener suddenly tries to rape her. 4. It's not okay that she's completely fine with all these men in her life trying to rape and own her.
It's not romantic. It's not a story about True Love, and what's most alarming is the fact that the author doesn't seem to realise that these are very serious issues and do not equal to a healthy relationship. If the story was trying to be dark, then I can forgive all of this (Hell, if the story was dark I would love all of this! Dark, twisted stories are right up my alley). But it's not trying to be dark. It's trying to portray rape, possessiveness, entitlement issues, and incest as a romantic, idealistic relationship.
The leading lady doesn't have a healthy relationship with any of the men in the story; not the "True Love", not the brother, not even the gardener.
After reading all the volumes, (yes, I read all of them. I wouldn't really have any grounds to be so repulsed, and rant as I am doing now if I didn't) I have to just point out that I don't think the author has siblings. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe she has six or seven siblings? But if someone can so freely insert incest into a story and try and portray it as romantic, then I honestly don't think they could actually have any siblings, or at least could not possibly be close to them. I also don't think the author knows what it is like to have a healthy relationship with a man.
If the story was just plain bad, then that would be okay. I love bad stories! They're deliciously fun to read, they're entertaining and I love the author for giving me so much joy out of just one story. But this isn't bad, this is disgusting.
Who would I suggest this series to? Well, if the book was actually meant to be dark I would recommend it within a heartbeat. But since we're supposed to find the love interest/s charming, and I quote "Enchanting" - because there's nothing more enchanting than sexual abuse - I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. The people who really loved and enjoyed this would be the last people on earth I would recommended it to. Why? Because reading this series would only serve to affirm their misconceptions on what a healthy relationship is.
Not wanting to review ALL OF THE BOOKS in this manga
Imma just go ahead and review the last one as like a review summarizing the series as a whole-- and then copy it onto the other novels of said series.
well here. we go..
This series... was definitely the odd one out...
The story revolves around 17 year old Omori Mio who lives a life of poverty with her little brother and she works hard to take care of him and their mother who resides in the hospital. And things are hard. But Omori was never prepared to take a job under their landowners who are probs like the richest and most powerful people in the world. Omori Mio works and she's paid well but the only problem she has is the landowner's son, who is popularly known as Prince because he's got some otherworldly atmosphere of refinery and regal-ity. During her time with the Prince, events twist and turn her life until Omori Mio doubts who she is, finally coming to the point where she doubts who her family is and the life she's been living.
This whole series is a bunch of shockers. and what-the-fucks.
Excuse my French, everyone. Though this also isn't a g-rated series, so I'm ... hoping ... that everyone reading this review, and anyone who even knows of this series, is at least above the age of fourteen and won't snicker under their breath when they hear profane synonyms for sex.
(I admit. I am a snickerer! But only because... I honestly just find profane words amusing. Not because I'm never exposed to them so to deal with my uncomfortable feelings towards adult words, I laugh it off. Nooo, that's only when someone says synonyms for girl and boy parts.)
Anyways, back to this series.
The events that Ayane Ukyou wrote up- they can go both ways for an audience. Either people like them and they gasp and "clutch dramatically at their hearts! Swooning for this manga!" or they are... utter-ralllyyyy and irrevocably insulted beyond consolation and they will forever have a burning hatred for this comic series.
So read at your own discretion.
But personally for me, I did think some events were a little iffy- like "what the hell", but over all, I did fall privy to the Prince's and Mio's relationship. Yes, he acted like a masochistic rapist every now and then- but I did think they were cute as lovers and. well. I ship it man. Also, I really enjoyed the art, and the manga has some good moments of comedic relief past all the twists and turns of drama.
Lemme just say that I hate Shoei. Though he is kinda the antagonist that turns into the protagonist, he is such a jerk. And not even a hot jerk or a jerk that people find irresistable. Just a good old classic jerk that no one likes, respects or wants to be with. Though in the book, Mio finds a liking with him. I don't know what she sees in him.
Shoei is dirty. Eww. I would not want him near me more or less touching me. BLEHHH.
This manga was OK. It is for mature audiances which I am not, LOL, but I read the manga anyways.
The characters were interesting. Mio's brother thinks he's in love with Mio. Mio doesn't know what to feel and has to work for her poor family. Shoei(the Prince) pretty much wants to have sex with Mio all day. Gardener dude pretty much wants to do anything that will make him seem more phsyco and Shoei's dad pretty much wants to have one boy with his blood ruling his company.
The whole concept of the story was new to me. So it was origonal. Which I liked. :D I also found somethings in the manga to be funny so I started to laugh and then thought back at it later and then laughed and then people were looking at me wherever I was at the moment.
Like for example, at the side of the road, which is a phrase I say alot now because of this manga. LOL. Inside joke.
Anyway, of course the setting for the is Japan so I can't really say anything about that... O.O
All in all, I give the manga 3 stars. I think I gave it only 3 because I didn't like the fact that Shoei did all those things with Mio and I didn't really like the relationship between any of the characters.

So Mio's brother Hina is keeping a secret & the Prince convinces their mother to let Hina & Mio move in with them, the Jinnai's & they do. And the Prince is keeping Hina's secret until one day, Mio finds out that he was working while underage to help pay for his high school education & then, it's really weird. They're living at the Jinnai's & one night, Mio comes upon Hina & the Prince together - :O they're both guys & se wonders if they have feeling for each other - Hina tells her he's sorry that he fell in love with the Prince- the Prince acts weird & pushes her away & Mio goes back to live at her own house, unable to stay there with them - and then she finds out that Hina was faking everything - he didn't like the Prince but he was in love with her :O INCEST MUCH? the effing hell? but it's really kinda gross so she yells for the Prince to help her & he saves her - then Hina leaves & she calls him & he tells her that it's weird that they've been able to afford their mother's hospital bills as well as keep their home - Mio gets suspicious & looks into it & finds out at the end that Mr. Jinnai, the Prince's father & her mother exchanged letters, in which he said he was happy that the child was born but he didn't want her to enter the Jinnai family - he was referring to Mio :O this means her & the Prince may be half-siblings after all :O

Why am I still reading this? Seriously I have no idea. First of all prince is getting on my last nerves. I'm ready for Mio to kick prince in the balls now and tell him to get the **** going. Seriously Mio, any day would be fine now. If you find this romantic then you might want to seek medical attention immediately. Haha , (Sorry if I offended anyone, just my opinion). Also, this story might have been good if Mio could just freakin stand up for herself! I've been waiting and waiting, and waiting. Finally she does, and then guess what. She misses him! Can you believe that. She freakin misses him! How? Why? How and why would you miss a guy that treats you like shit all the time. Yet , I keep reading, and I guess I will finish this story if its the last thing I do. Sorry, I'm stubborn that way. So if you happen to find a few of my brain cells lying around. Please don't hesitate to gather them up for me.
So, who didn't see this turn of events with the brother? Hmm, anyone who didn't read goodies such as Hot Gimmick, Peach Girl, and/or Boys Over Flowers might of missed this. I mean, our rich boy even wears glasses. Though I have to say, Hina trying to seduce our prince by pretending to be Mio was a nice shock factor move.
