I can sum up my disgust in four words; Rape.Is.Not.Love.

Reasons why this isn't something you should be finding romantic:
1. It's not romantic when the leading man consistently tries to rape and own the main character.
2. It's not okay for the main character's brother - they grew up together as siblings their entire lives, they're still family - tries to rape her, and own her.
3. It's not okay when the gardener suddenly tries to rape her.
4. It's not okay that she's completely fine with all these men in her life trying to rape and own her.

It's not romantic. It's not a story about True Love, and what's most alarming is the fact that the author doesn't seem to realise that these are very serious issues and do not equal to a healthy relationship. If the story was trying to be dark, then I can forgive all of this (Hell, if the story was dark I would love all of this! Dark, twisted stories are right up my alley). But it's not trying to be dark. It's trying to portray rape, possessiveness, entitlement issues, and incest as a romantic, idealistic relationship.

The leading lady doesn't have a healthy relationship with any of the men in the story; not the "True Love", not the brother, not even the gardener.

After reading all the volumes, (yes, I read all of them. I wouldn't really have any grounds to be so repulsed, and rant as I am doing now if I didn't) I have to just point out that I don't think the author has siblings. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe she has six or seven siblings? But if someone can so freely insert incest into a story and try and portray it as romantic, then I honestly don't think they could actually have any siblings, or at least could not possibly be close to them. I also don't think the author knows what it is like to have a healthy relationship with a man.

If the story was just plain bad, then that would be okay. I love bad stories! They're deliciously fun to read, they're entertaining and I love the author for giving me so much joy out of just one story. But this isn't bad, this is disgusting.

Who would I suggest this series to? Well, if the book was actually meant to be dark I would recommend it within a heartbeat. But since we're supposed to find the love interest/s charming, and I quote "Enchanting" - because there's nothing more enchanting than sexual abuse - I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. The people who really loved and enjoyed this would be the last people on earth I would recommended it to. Why? Because reading this series would only serve to affirm their misconceptions on what a healthy relationship is.

Rape. Is. Not. Romantic.

I really loved Desire Climax, the manga series, but I wouldn’t suggest it to any of the following type of people: Extreme Feminists, The Faint of Heart, People Who Don’t Have Slave Fantasy/Fetish, People who Hated 50 Shades of Grey, and People under the age of 18.

Desire Climax is a soap opera like series, with a huge, ever growing, list of problems that are very day-time drama styled. It is filled with passion, hate, mysterious pasts, missing memories, ownership, prostitution, and violence.

As the reader, and a person who really enjoys slave romances and make her want it smutt, I rather enjoyed this series. I smiled, laughed, and was totally in the moment each time I read it. E very time he pinned her to the ground, tore open her clothing, or was touching her, I was crossing my fingers hoping it would grow into something more.

Some readers would say he was raping her when she said no and he didn’t stop, but he didn’t ever have sex or oral sex with her without her permission, he simple enjoyed kissing on her and pinning while she said no. This is one of the major reasons I wouldn’t suggest this novel to someone who doesn’t have a slave romance fetish, because you really wouldn’t enjoy it.

When I’ve had a long, hard day, and I need to relax I love kicking back with Desire Climax, a glass of wine, and some sweet dessert.

Nope. I don't like the "it's not rape if you like it" and the "I own you so it's okay for me to rape you" and the Borderline Rape is Love themes. I do not like the extremely rude, aggressive, obsessive, and sexually-harassing type of male lead.

Not wanting to review ALL OF THE BOOKS in this manga

Imma just go ahead and review the last one as like a review summarizing the series as a whole-- and then copy it onto the other novels of said series.

well here. we go..

This series... was definitely the odd one out...

The story revolves around 17 year old Omori Mio who lives a life of poverty with her little brother and she works hard to take care of him and their mother who resides in the hospital. And things are hard. But Omori was never prepared to take a job under their landowners who are probs like the richest and most powerful people in the world. Omori Mio works and she's paid well but the only problem she has is the landowner's son, who is popularly known as Prince because he's got some otherworldly atmosphere of refinery and regal-ity. During her time with the Prince, events twist and turn her life until Omori Mio doubts who she is, finally coming to the point where she doubts who her family is and the life she's been living.

This whole series is a bunch of shockers. and what-the-fucks.

Excuse my French, everyone. Though this also isn't a g-rated series, so I'm ... hoping ... that everyone reading this review, and anyone who even knows of this series, is at least above the age of fourteen and won't snicker under their breath when they hear profane synonyms for sex.

(I admit. I am a snickerer! But only because... I honestly just find profane words amusing. Not because I'm never exposed to them so to deal with my uncomfortable feelings towards adult words, I laugh it off. Nooo, that's only when someone says synonyms for girl and boy parts.)

Anyways, back to this series.

The events that Ayane Ukyou wrote up- they can go both ways for an audience. Either people like them and they gasp and "clutch dramatically at their hearts! Swooning for this manga!" or they are... utter-ralllyyyy and irrevocably insulted beyond consolation and they will forever have a burning hatred for this comic series.

So read at your own discretion.

But personally for me, I did think some events were a little iffy- like "what the hell", but over all, I did fall privy to the Prince's and Mio's relationship. Yes, he acted like a masochistic rapist every now and then- but I did think they were cute as lovers and. well. I ship it man. Also, I really enjoyed the art, and the manga has some good moments of comedic relief past all the twists and turns of drama.

Happy reading folks!

So this review is for the overall series.

Lemme just say that I hate Shoei. Though he is kinda the antagonist that turns into the protagonist, he is such a jerk. And not even a hot jerk or a jerk that people find irresistable. Just a good old classic jerk that no one likes, respects or wants to be with.
Though in the book, Mio finds a liking with him. I don't know what she sees in him.

Shoei is dirty. Eww. I would not want him near me more or less touching me. BLEHHH.

This manga was OK. It is for mature audiances which I am not, LOL, but I read the manga anyways.

The characters were interesting. Mio's brother thinks he's in love with Mio. Mio doesn't know what to feel and has to work for her poor family. Shoei(the Prince) pretty much wants to have sex with Mio all day. Gardener dude pretty much wants to do anything that will make him seem more phsyco and Shoei's dad pretty much wants to have one boy with his blood ruling his company.

The whole concept of the story was new to me. So it was origonal. Which I liked. :D
I also found somethings in the manga to be funny so I started to laugh and then thought back at it later and then laughed and then people were looking at me wherever I was at the moment.

Like for example, at the side of the road, which is a phrase I say alot now because of this manga. LOL. Inside joke.

Anyway, of course the setting for the is Japan so I can't really say anything about that... O.O

All in all, I give the manga 3 stars. I think I gave it only 3 because I didn't like the fact that Shoei did all those things with Mio and I didn't really like the relationship between any of the characters.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

No, lui arrossisce!

I never bother with rating things a one star, but I have to. This is definitely the type of manga a person can pick up and read through the while thing all the while completely disliking it. I read it because I couldn't believe it.

It's not bad like horrible- I mean, I read it. If it were horrible and offensive, I would have put it down. But it is bad in that every young male wants to own the main female. I give the lead female some points because she is strong, slapping some sense into men and refusing to sell her body. It's just that the rest of the story falls apart. I was left wondering what happened. Lots of things were brought up for drama and then never properly tied together, though everything does comes together in the end, it's just like duct tape was taken to all the various events to force them together like it all made sense.

I read the series a few year ago and I just remember how this manga leave a huge impact on me. It somehow features unconventional relationships and a lot of SPG scenes that made me curious. Although the huge pot twist at the latter part of the manga really got me.

And I just hate the way the synopsis of this manga is written. Its like a rich powerful guy stole a kiss from a random poor girl then said that he will buy her then the girl will get revenge cliche? Lol. That got me fooled. But no. This is more than that.

Very nice male protagonist...can't say the same for the female one. I don't know, she seemed a bit whiny at some point. I mean, come on girl, get your act together and admit you want him for Pete's sake! The guy is throwing himself at you, cut him some slack. I liked the story and the ending even if it was kind of predictable...and how come in every manga like this one every freaking male character falls in love with the useless female lead? Jeez. Mix it up a little more, people.

Reading this was like watching a slow, overly dramatic trainwreck happen to your own car. It hinged between being okay and utterly terrible. It's not like this story hasn't been done, to death, and yet I couldn't look away. I just had to know what will happen next, even though my mouth remained agape from sheer displeasure.

Bad call Goodreads Recommends. Terrible, terrible call.

This is sort of a shameful manga for me because when I was like 14 or 15 it was a favorite. The maturity and drama and darkness were absolutely tantalizing to me as a teenager and I even considered purchasing copies of it for myself (until I realized it hadn't been published in English), but, with age, I did realize that the series is quite toxic and poorly done.

As always this is an overview of the whole series and will contain spoilers due to the fact that several plot points need to be discussed in depth.

The story essentially boils down following a poor, mild-mannered girl who is grossly manipulated and taken advantage of by a nasty, selfish rich boy and all the abuses she suffers because of the history between their two families while the author tries to convince readers that their relationship is actually romantic and good by failing to convincingly portray the two as childhood loves. Throw in some family secrets, two incest fake outs, and childhood trauma and it's an underwhelming and unsatisfying story that just leaves you feeling sad for the heroine.

My review originally went into the long synopsis of the story-line, but ultimately I don't think it's necessary: it's a story about an emotionally stunted guy with a mother complex being unable to respect a girl he's interested in and then fail to convince her to be with him through any means besides extortion, blackmail, and sexual assault poorly painted as a romance. The details of the plot aren't super pressing when the male lead and his motivations are such garbage.

Shoei, the main love interest, like... non stop sexually assaults Mio. He probably assaults her more than he speaks to her. He literally cannot interact with Mio unless he is touching her in a sexual manner, it's just baffling how the author thought this was good.

He tears off her clothes, touches her between the legs, manipulates situations so he can commit more assault against her (gets her alone in rooms and cars, has her moved into his house and next to his bedroom for easy access), claims to "own" her, seldom respects her wishes, and overall seems to only be interested in using her as a sexual object.

When they're in the part of the plot where they mistakenly believe themselves half-siblings, Shoei is totally unaffected by the information and also doesn't care how it affects Mio, who is absolutely horrified and sickened. He sees her react like that and still wants her sexually, which culminates in them having sex while under the assumption that they're committing incest. Like, this guy is literally under the impression he is fucking his half-sister and couldn't give a single fuck because his desire to sexually possess her is just that intense.

And, of course, even when they're supposed to be in love with one another, Shoei isn't any nicer or more respectful--even after their relationship involves consensual sex, he doesn't grow or change as a person in the slightest.

It's really unrealistic that Mio would ever fall for Shoei, given the way he acts and the awful situation she's in--Mio has no power, no support, she's really in a position where she can't do anything but allow Shoei to do whatever he wants with her. I suppose that's why the author really pushes the they were in love as kids plot point. It's like all his redeeming qualities were shoved into who he was when he was like... eight, and the author ignores that he is literally the worst person ever at seventeen.

Which, honestly, the author failed miserably to convince readers that Shoei and Mio had a good, happy love for one another as kids and that Shoei has any good qualities.

In a flashback, we are shown that Shoei wants to take Mio's mother, who works as his nanny, from Mio and keep her all to himself. He convinces her to trade places with him, which leads to Mio getting kidnapped. What then really seals the deal on how awful Shoei is that when Mio is rescued and in the hospital clearly very traumatized, he throws a bouquet at her and screams at her for ruining his plan to keep her mother all to himself, telling her that she should've have come back.

The girl he supposedly was best friends with and loved is in the hospital, beaten up, not doing well, and instead of feel guilty that she's in this position because of his selfish plan to steal her mom from her or have any empathy for her trauma, he's pissed off she was rescued. It's almost implied that he would have rather she'd been murdered. I seriously cannot believe that a child this awful ever felt anything sincere or tender towards Mio. In fact, it feels like she was only ever a means to and end.

And what's more is that Mio actually repressed all memories of her childhood, forgetting her relationship with Shoei and the kidnapping, but rather than using this clean slate to start over with her, Shoei acts kind of pissed she doesn't remember and presses her to remember her trauma. If the idea was to get together with her in a romantic relationship, what benefit is there to making her remember her experiences and the fact that he was the cause of her suffering while also treating her horribly the whole time?

Another problem with the series is Hinata, who Mio believes is her little brother; he sexually assaults her like Shoei (and even tricks Shoei into kissing him, so, he also assaults him) and tries to do everything he can to make her stop liking Shoei and instead be receptive to his advances--he even basically tells Mr. Jinnai, who we later learn is his real father, to break up Mio and Shoei and to give Mio to him, which Mr. Jinnai seems all for (he is a terrible person) because he wants Shoei, as the elder son, to marry properly and to appease Hinata, the illegitimate love child he's now choosing to acknowledge. Despite Mio being extremely uninterested in Hinata romantically, thinking of him as her brother, he doesn't respect her feelings and continually tries to force Mio to be with him despite her obvious discomfort and reluctance.

Literally no one in the whole series cares about or respects Mio. No one. This poor girl has it rough. If she's not being used and abused and lied to by her mom, landlord, friends, etc. she's being sexually assaulted by every boy in her life. I'm honestly surprised Mr. Jinnai didn't try to rape her.

I think if Shoei had been written to be more emotionally complex and kinder, I could see Mio learning to love him, but for the entire series he's pretty awful to her and then she makes him blush a little and she's like "uwu so cute, I love him and will forgive every time he's ever attempted to force me into sex!" and I'm like good lord that's bad.

For reference, because I'm in the mood for details, here's a bullet point of all the times Shoei physically assaults Mio without permission or anything; most scenes are stopped only after Mio says no several times, she starts to hit him and scream, or because they're interrupted (assume most if not all chapters include him being mean and/or manipulative or making unwanted sexual remarks and just being kind of shitty to her all around):

(Note: Mio is also assaulted by Hayato in chapter 8 and Hinata in chapters 19/20 and 40 and he also does a bunch of bad manipulative shit like try to blackmail her about information on her "real mother" in exchange for being with him romantically/sexually):

• Chapter 1: he forces a kiss on her and throws money at her saying he's "bought her."
• Chapter 1: he lures her to his house and proceeds to lock her in a room, push her to the ground, kiss her, remove her clothes, suck/touch her breasts, restrain her, and then tell her "if you're a good girl, I'll give you some more money." She tells him to stop and he doesn't until the third or fourth denial of consent and she tries to hit him. He then slips a credit card into her bag as "payment" for her "services." So, he essentially is coercing her into sex work.
• Chapter 3: He makes lewd comments about her dress and says he'll make a birthday present for himself out of her body, so she offers to initiate a french kiss (likely to keep him from removing her clothes and assaulting her in the garden) but when she removes his glasses, he forces a kiss and then leaves a painful hickey.
• Chapter 4: He drags Mio into his bath where he grabs and fondles her, saying things like "if you don't want to wash my back I'll have you do something else" (a sexual meaning implied) and insinuates that because she's his maid she should be doing sexual things with him. He removes her top to expose and grope her breasts, restrains her, and puts his fingers down into her underwear to touch her. She screams and resists and when she tries to get away, he pulls her close for a hug against his naked body.
• Chapter 9: He licks her hand, forces a kiss, pushes up her clothes to kiss/suck/touch her breasts, and makes a remark about liking it when she screams. He stops when she hits him on the head with a frying pan.
• Chapter 10: He makes a sexual remark and she screams "No hanky-panky in my house!" to which he says "If you really don' want to, then I'll stop." and then goes "Just kidding!" as he pounces on her wearing only a towel. He kisses her, exposes her breasts, touches/pinches them, kisses down her body, and licks her thigh. He only stops for good when Hinata interrupts them.
• Chapter 12: he undresses her and redresses her in a changing room at a clothing store despite her protests.
• Chapter 13: he confesses that he loves her, then immediately tries to take her to a hotel to have sex; she runs away. She later says she's happy he'll be coming along with her the next day on a date and he reaches up her skirt, reprimanding her for getting him "worked up" i.e. making him aroused.
• Chapter 16: Shoei, commenting that the reason she's moving in isn't for work, but to better be sexually available to him, pushes Mio to the floor, undoes her bra/pushes up her shirt, touches her breasts, kisses/licks her back, pulls down her pants and underwear, then proceeds to touch her between the legs and finger her, all while telling her that she shouldn't care about her little brother and instead only focus on him and his sexual wants.
• Chapter 17: he walks in on her changing, fondles her breast, and reaches between her legs.
• Chapter 20: He pulls her into a car, pushes her down, and when she doesn't want to hear him out because she's angry over how he's been treating her, he pushes her clothes aside, touches/licks/sucks her breasts, and removes her pants, intent on making her "squeal." Feeling used, she gives him no response, and he stops, not understanding why she doesn't like it, and when she tells him she feels used and unimportant, he just like awkwardly hugs her and says he won't forgive her if she leaves him. (What a fucking douchebag.)
• Chapter 21 is like the first time all the kissing and fondling and heavy petting is welcome and he stops when she asks him to stop (though he is pissed that she doesn't want to have sex because he admits he was only being nice to get sex) and it's like maybe the 3rd or 4th kiss that Mio wanted total. Wow, it only took like 11 episodes of sexual assault for him to be a little decent and respect her when she says no.
• Chapter 22: Mio's mom and everyone are now like "yep, Shoei's your brother" so she tells him and despite her being upset and horrified and crying, he forces a kiss on her and pushes her to the ground and does his usual grabbing of the breasts with his hand down her pants routine. She scratches him, but he yells at her that she belongs to him and has no intention of ending their physical/romantic relationship because of incest.
• Chapter 23 is where, believing they're siblings, the two of them run away to a villa of the Jinnai's and have sex for the first time. Mio believes it's sinful, but wants to and consents, so, I guess there's that.
• Chapter 32 he grabs at her breasts and make sexual advances to make her not worry about Hina; a classic manipulation tactic "make the woman orgasm away feelings man doesn't want her to have."

From here on out he doesn't try to assault her and all the sexual contact is willing/wanted as far as I can tell, but like god does this manga pile it the fuck UP.

I think there was a worthwhile story in here, but Shoei just ruined it. He's never nice and basically all he does is be mean to Mio or assault her. Like what's there to like? The few moments when he's not totally awful or emotionless? I swear to god, anger, lust, boredom, and sadistic joy are all he feels.

And because the characters and story are like this I can barely comment on the art, which is overall pretty nice but not without its awkward frames :/

I gave a high rate to this volume because I really liked it when I was younger, about 16, and so I still find it entertaining when Im reading it in these days. Its a smut, we have to acknowledge it: and its handled in a certain 50-shades-not-well-plotted way that will make feminists strongly hate it. Him trying to have her might still be ok: problem is she has no personality, so she doesnt... almost anything. But still, the first 3/4 volumes are pretty good in my opinion, and the story has some potential. However, when the raping brother and the raping gardener come at stage, the story becomes nonsense and pretty annoying. So Im here to say: read it if you want some non serious, light, smut entertainment. That it does pretty well.

BTW: still much better than many other works. Ever read Mayu Shinjo?

The fantasy of forced affection is very subjective. The sole purpose of me reading this manga is Shoei. The mangaka really drew him nicely and it's very pleasant to see her experimenting drawing styles with the character.

The storyline is really cliche and it's not continuous. It abruptly changes mood and plot. Idk if it's the style of the mangaka. I want ro finish it and see what happens till the end.

A girl's gotta read the occasional smutty dark romance, especially when it has an intriguing mystery plotline shoehorned in, and really pretty art.

In all seriousness, this is not a good series, it's very trashy and "problematic", but I'm of the opinion that what you enjoy to read or write about isn't reflective of what you believe in reality. I'm a massive feminist, but I sometimes watch or read insane stories, that don't always match my morals, and that's okay.

A friend jokingly dared me to read this series, so here I am, and to be honest: it's your standard early 2000s romance manga with sexual harassment smacking you dead in the face in the first two or three chapters.

While it didn't make me extra uncomfortable, I'd still say trigger warning for those who might already have a hard time reading content like this.
