I received an ARC copy of this book to read and review. The novel combination of genres: "time-travel", "historical", "romance", "adventure" and "Christian" all resulted in a rich, exciting, swoon-worthy tale of Viola and Hunter's story. The characters were authentic and relatable, and Sara writes in such a way as to make the reader feel they are there, in person, watching the story unfold. A throughly enjoyable read which gets a double thumbs up from me!

I began reading this series by starting with book 2. Time travel fiction is not my norm, but I loved the story so much, I knew I had to start at the beginning.

I enjoyed Hunter and Viola’s story so much. Hunter is a Special Forces soldier, running (literally) from his demons from a mission gone wrong. He manages to hit his head and shows up in the “new” state of Colorado in the 1870’s. Two sisters, Viola and Beatrice, find him injured and commit to nursing him back to health.

But who is saving who? The sisters are walking a tightrope of fear and despair when they find Hunter. Their father left for a hunting trip and hasn’t returned. There is clearly an attraction between Hunter and Viola from the start. Hunter knows he can protect these women, but how does he wrap his head around being stuck 150 years in the past? For that matter, what does Viola do with a man 150 years from the future?

This book will check many boxes for different type of readers. Time Travel. Check. There is so much humor surrounding Hunter’s gadgets. Discovering the iPhone is hilarious. Hunky military Hero. Check. Sweet and smart Heroine. Check. Adventure and Suspense. Check. Wonderful Christian Message without being Preachy. Check. I’d like to expound on this last one. I do not generally seek out Christian fiction. I look for stories I think I will like and if there is a moving message within, I consider that a bonus.

Hunter and Viola both have reasons to question their faith in God because it sure feels like God has abandoned them in their times of need. But God shows up when needed, particularly when you don’t care to listen for Him but your vulnerability puts you in a place to listen. The message is powerful, no matter the reader’s level of faith.

I’m a huge fan of Sara Blackard’s. I look forward to reading all of her books in the future. Highly recommend.

When Delta Force operator, Hunter Bennett, decided to climb a “little mountain” he had no idea that he would run into the biggest mountain lion he had ever seen. Turning, but not quickly enough to escape his opponent’s nasty claws, he tumbled down the side of the mountain and straight into 1877.
When Viola and Beatrice Thomas left home to find a new supply of meat, they never expected to also find a wounded man, dressed in very strange clothing. Will these two resourceful women be able to tend his wounds and then be able to convince Hunter that it really is 1877? Can they help him heal from his thoughts of his last failed mission? How can he adapt to the idea of never going back, never seeing his family and friends? Will he be able to help these women who have problems of their own?
This story is intriguing and quickly captured my imagination. It was difficult to put down. It makes you wonder how you would react if you were one of the characters.
This book was supplied to me by the author, and this review contains only my thoughts on the quality of the work. Great job, Sara Blackard!

This is an exciting book about Hunter a Delta Force man for his career who is sent back in time to the mid 1800's. Sara Blackard has written a story about exciting characters and how they survive, but also about each and every one of us. On the outside, a person may look all together, tough and strong, but there is that soft venerable inside that they hide from the world. Sara has a way to expose those feelings of self doubt and bring them to prayer and God. Viola and her sister Beatrice discover an injured man on the mountain side and bring him home to patch him up. He is a bit weird talking about "eye-phones" and jet streams. Their brother, Orlando is away from the cabin looking for their father, who is late in returning from a hunting trip. Throw in a mean spirited evil man who wants their Papa's gold and Viola as his property. The beauty of the mountain country is captured in detail and one feels like they are there and experiencing every exciting adventure. I highly recommend this book. I was given a free copy for an honest review.

This book was refreshing to read. I have read other science fiction and time travel stories, and I love how Sara Blackard tells this tale of time travel and budding romance from a Christian perspective. As a friend of mine said it, most science fiction stories ask you to "suspend your beliefs" but this one asks you to "stretch your beliefs," naturally weaving in scripture and faith as it does so. I also love the uniqueness of each character in this story and how the author gives us insight into their internal struggles as the characters, and their relationships with each other, grow and develop. I went on to read the rest of Sara Blackard's "Vestige of Time" series and the first two books of her "Stryker Security" series and would highly recommend all of her books. Thanks for an enjoyable and refreshing read!

As suggested by the author, I started this series by downloading the free prequel, “Mission Out of Control.” That fast-paced short story introduced Hunter Bennet as team leader during a catastrophic Delta Force mission.

Vestige of Hope opens with Hunter being attacked by a wild animal in the Colorado wilderness. God saves him by taking him back in time more than 140 years, to the year 1877. There he meets Viola, and their story becomes a remarkable Christian-themed romance.

I very much enjoyed this book, and I continued by reading the rest of the series. I’ve lived in Colorado most of my life, and have visited the places described. I enjoy reading sci fi, Christian books, and romance. This series pushed all my favorite buttons.

Sara has a talent for romantic suspenseful time travel book. I fell in love with Sara's writing in the prequel, Vestige of Power that hooked me to the family and story line. The way Sara explained the time travel reminds us all that WITH GOD ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. You fall in love with the characters right away, you feel the uncertainty of Hunter as he wants to stay in the timeline he fell into but missing his family in the future, the way the sisters opened their home and their lives to Hunter and how God brought Hunter to them for "such a time as this". It's a great read and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

I love time travel stories and this one is the BEST! Sara weaves a story with such description and adventure I could clearly picture the action and feel the emotion. I love how she never swerves from the truth of the Word and even the time travel is based on scripture! She really delivers great characters and made me imagine how it would be to wake up in a different century. I like how she brings meaning and substance to the phrase “the God of time and space!” I will be reading this whole series! I highly recommend this book!

"Very imaginative ...Sara Blackard has woven an imaginative story, a wild journey through portals into a different space and time, as you follow characters who dip into magical tool chests to overcome challenges. Where daily life is somehow seen as only a surface-rippling manifestation of its beyond and beneath... the book moved me ever so swiftly between portals of worlds somehow far distant, yet juxtaposed, in time and space to each other like the participants in a role....Sara's readers will enjoy this new fantasy. And who knows it just could be true.

Wow! I was unsure about reading this book after looking at the book synopsis, but I’m so glad I read it. Intriguing story about a man that was dropped back in time. The way the author presents this is plausible and some what amazing. The actual story combining both eras is done well and the personal growth of each individual is encouraging to me as a believer. I would definitely recommend this book and this author!

Awesome book!
Hunter, in total denial of where and when he now existed, tried to prove to the two women who had found and aided him that he wasn't in the place and time they told him it was. This was really cute!
From confusion to enlightenment to adjustment to danger...
It definitely holds one's interest throughout!

I found this book in my unlimited list and so glad I did. I've recommended this author to other family and friends who equally enjoyed the books in this series. To me it was very refreshing to find a very manly character in his 20's that still had what is today is considered old fashioned morals. I've wanted all my grandchildren to read because it gives the right message.

The story grabbed my attention right away because it was a book where two time periods are present. I love these stories because the two time periods have a distinctive reason to collide. My interest was piqued when Hunter finds himself back in 1877. I could sense his disorientation as he awakes in a strange place with two women dressed a bit different. It was funny when they didn’t know how to take off his backpack or what a cell phone was. The faith element was introduced early in the story. Why was Hunter sent back in time to this specific place?
Viola was quick to want to help Hunter but I know she questioned how he traveled there. Her wise sister explains how God does miracles and places people in places for His purpose. I loved how the author threaded the many times Jesus performed things that were hard to understand but definitely for a reason. I loved when Viola tells her sister Beatrice, “I don’t want you to get so enamored with the future that you become disconnected with the present.” I wonder how many times I have focused on the future and forgot about what was right in front of me?
Beatrice’s steadfast faith that she knew God had brought Hunter to them was very encouraging. It reminds me how we need to have faith even though we may not know the outcome. I really liked Beatrice and her no none sense way about her. She liked to get things done and had no time for idle chatter. It was interesting to see how quickly Hunter and Viola took to each other. There are a few moments in the story that may not be suitable for pre teens to read as the author talks about a relationship between a man and woman. The story does take a look at what God has planned for us and how we need to learn to trust Him. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

An auspicious start to the Vestige in Time series by Sara Blackard, “Vestige of Hope” is a twist on the time traveler trope. Opening in the present day with Hunter, a US Army Delta Force officer on compulsory time off after a tragic outcome on a mission, his storyline very quickly merges with that of Viola Thomas and her sisters in 1877. The Thomases are anxiously awaiting the inexplicably-prolonged return of their father from the winter trapping season. When their paths merge, sparks fly in more ways than one.

I am not typically a fan of time travel stories or books that feature them, but I was pleasantly surprised by “Vestige of Hope.” Blackard manages to achieve the suspension of disbelief necessary for readers to enjoy this novel, while maintaining a realism that anchors her work firmly on the foundation of faith. Hunter begins this story with “his own demons of failure stalking just over his shoulder”, and as his faith matures he slowly comes to see beyond his failures to the realization that he is not meant to carry his burdens alone. Viola struggles to keep a positive outlook in her own situation, and having David stumble into her story opens her eyes and her heart to the beauty of miracles. She tells David, “I know God will bless you wherever He takes you, Hunter.” As the two grapple with their own obstacles to unashamed faith, God’s grace and mercy become ever more apparent. The lesson remains true for all of us: God is faithful, and He will take us through the storms of life, no matter how upending, in order to bring us closer to Him.

I received a complimentary copy of this book through Celebrate Lit and was not required to post a favorable review. All opinions are my own.

I'm not much on time travel but this book, her writing ,she eases you into the adventures this person experiences. Wonderfully written on the description of what is going on where you end up believing what's going on with these characters and you believe that they are real people. That's really hard to do! This book has a little of everything in it which is hard to do and then you believe that you are right there with the characters. Not really going to tell you the story then you won't read, and you really need to read. This is a series where I am ready to go on with book two and the adventure of where this author will take us next!! You always know if you enjoyed this book and it being a series then you know to go on to book two! Just for reference this book has two different names but it's the same book! I got in touch with Sara by email and explained the two books but with different names but same story,it was name Vestige of Power to start of with but the book got a name change to Vestige of Hope. So if you see the two names same book same story,it's not book 1 and then book 2! This is about Hunter who is in the present one minute and next thing he knows he's with two sisters had in the 1800's. The one sister wants to help, the other sister believes he is there cause of God! Travel through the story with them all to see the drama the adventures that they encounter to figure out what is going on! This story shows you how to have faith in God and to believe and have faith!! Such a great story of what Hunter and the two sisters go through and believe and figure out what the time travel!!

Vestige of Hope by author Sara Blackard is a Christian Historical Time-Travel Romance. I was not sure I would enjoy this fictional tale of a modern man going back to the late 1800s, but I really did. The author did a great job.

Author Blackard has a nice style of writing. It is evident she writes Christian fiction because she makes no attempt to disguise or hide it. I love that. Her book has inspirational lessons, scripture, and life lessons tied together with a captivating story. I was immediately interested and soon found myself turning the pages as I could not wait to see what would happen next.

The characters were quaint, quirky, and unique. Most were easy to love and the scoundrels equally easy to detest. Viola Thomas and her feisty sister, Bea, were characters that became like friends. I could picture myself having coffee or tea with them. Modern man, Hunter, was a force to be reckoned with even though he was hurt.

I enjoyed watching the spiritual journey of some of the characters. It was quite inspirational and uplifting. This book has something for everyone. It had drama, mystery, humor, adventure, romance, and a good Christian message.

I highly recommend this book to anyone. Even if you are skeptical about the time travel element, the way it is presented using scripture and God’s mighty power make it sound plausible. I am eagerly awaiting book two. It receives 5 out of 5 stars from me. A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but these are my own, honest words.

I enjoy out of the box stories and what I really liked about Vestige of Hope, was that the author made time travel seem so plausible. What happens when a soldier, a US Army Delta Force one, takes a hike on a mountain? Well I will leave his journey to your reading, but Hunter ends up back in time to the year 1877.

Hunter is injured and meets two sisters, Viola and Beatrice, who are awaiting their father and brother to return home. I really enjoyed the realization of both parties, that Hunter was not in the right time. The terrors that he clearly felt and the marvelous things he told the sisters about the future and that they saw on his phone. The way it was written was so good that even I was believing the story Hunter concocted in his head, that he really could not be in the past.

There are bad guys (creepy evil ones), strong faith, overwelming sadness, and exhilarating romance in this delightful time travel romp. I also found out there is a novella prequel to this series that I am anxious to get my hands on now. And I look forward to reading the next and learning more about this family.

I received a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

I really loved this time traveling story. "Vestige of Hope" Sara Blackard is a short read about life in the wilderness and a love story.

This book clearly shows what grace is and I really like how faith and Scriptures are a big part of this story.

This is a clean story but it does hint of marriage relationship, but not graphic, I really like the teasing between the couple.

This is a story about good verses evil. I really recommend this book. I am eagerly waiting book two in this series.

I was given a complementary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

This book is sooo good! I read this series out of order, but I still really enjoyed each book. One of my favourite aspects is how Blackard chose to explain time travel for the purpose of her story. It is so simple, and yet so perfect! She takes away the sci-fi flashing lights and attributes the event to God, with scriptural evidence that it could actually happen! I have always wondered what it would be like to time travel back to the late 19th century, and for a day or two I almost believed it could happen to me! As this book reminds us, nothing is impossible with God, somethings are just highly improbable. I love the relationships in this series and even enjoyed her Stryker Security series as well because there are a couple crossover characters (although they don’t affect the plot in any significant way), even though the genre for that series is not something I read very often (namely contemporary fiction). I was sad to discover she hasn’t finished publishing her Stryker Security series, but only because I’m impatient! I can’t wait to read the next book! Sara Blackard is an author I didn’t know existed until a few weeks ago, and now I’m determined to read all of her books available, and the ones yet to be written!

Vestige of Hope begins Sara Blackard’s series, Vestige of Time. I enjoyed this story between Viola and Hunter from start to finish. I found they were relatable characters and I was intrigued with their tale. There is a lot going on that I always love in a book, history, romance, adventure, action and inspiration. The details were so well written, I felt like I was right there. I wanted to keep reading to see what would happen next. I did not find it predictable, which was nice. The book is not very long, so I had it all read in one sitting.

I am giving Vestige of Hope four and a half stars. I look forward to reading the next installment from the Vestige of Time series, Vestige of Legacy. I recommend this one to readers who liked to be entertained by a clean historical romance. It is definitely not one to miss.

I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

I’ve had this book on my Kindle for quite a while, but kept putting off reading it for some reason. Now, I don’t know why I did, because it was an incredibly sweet story absolutely full of beautiful lessons. It’s a tale of accidental time travel, unexpected love, and undeniable faith.

Viola and her sister, Beatrice, amazed me, because they were so accepting of the idea of a man almost literally dropping in front of them from the future. But I appreciated that the author gave a reasonable explanation for their acceptance of such strangeness. And Hunter’s acceptance of his plight is downright admirable, but the author gives him viable reasons to stay, making his choices both understandable and logical.

But more than anything, the trust and hope that the characters have in God is inspiring. It’s not completely sappy, but honest and heartfelt. The author did a wonderful job of writing a realistic faith into her characters, one that all believers should strive for.

I definitely recommend you check out Sara Blackard’s Vestige of Hope. It’s the first book in her Vestige in Time series, which I hope to read all of soon!

Happy reading!

Just imagine you are hiking in the breathtaking mountains, you meet a mountain lion, fall into a ravine and wake up 142 years earlier?! This is what happens to Hunter Bennett as he is on leave from the Army Delta Force. Rescued by Viola Thomas and her sister Beatrice, he is slowly nursed back to health as he attempts to understand what has occurred. All questioning ceases when he comes to the conclusion that God must have sent him back in time for a reason.

A lovely book that details what it was like to live high in the mountains before all the technology we have today. Mix that with a murder, kidnapping and home invasion and you have a story you won’t put down until you are finished. I particularly liked the grace extended by their brother, that same grace that God extends to all of us.

This digital copy was received through the author and CelebrateLit. My impressions and comments were in no way solicited.
