After looking over it and reading the so-called instructions I was disappointed. While the figures are nice the actual instructions on how to create them are seriously lacking. Ironically the example shown sewn are not done well, many are lop-sided or off point. Not worth the time or money!
Overview: If you are a new quilter, how do you find new blocks to put together? Or if you are a more experienced quilter, how do you challenge yourself? This book claims to have the answer.
Likes: Most of this book showcases the blocks. This makes it easy if you just want to scale up the blocks. And the blocks are separated by, let’s say, family type.
As well, we get several different ways to use these blocks.
Conclusion: This is a fun book for the quilter in your life. I hope you get the same amount of enjoyment and use out of it as I have.
No measurements are provided for the patterns. There are pictures that can be traced into templates, add 1/4", then traced on to fabric. If you are looking for ideas, its useful for reference but not good for execution.
This book has patterns for many blocks, square, rectangles, appliques, but one needs to enlarge them all. But I loved seeing the different Sun Bonnet Sues. This could be a good reference book, not to own, unless you have a huge house with a large library. Just as easy to obtain from the library.
This book is a good resource for quilt blocks. But it should be rather treated as encyclopedia, plus if you really want to use these block for your projects, you should enlarge them, otherwise you'd make one quilt half a year :)
This is a big-ass book of traditional quilting blocks. Very interesting to browse through and finally learn a bit about many of these blocks that I've seen hundreds of times before. I'm not a traditional quilter, but this was a very interesting and inspiring read.
