Veronica, a fifty-five-year-old widow, is intent on picking up her stranded mother-in-law when she gets trapped in a snowstorm. When a handsome first responder rescues her, she is grateful, but didn’t bargain on giving him her heart.
Will he feel the same?
If you enjoy a story of friendship, love, and second chances in the second half of life, this one may be for you.
Jeanine Lauren is a USA Today bestselling author who writes stories about friendship, love and second chances in the second half of life, because let's face it, the second half is the most interesting.
Though Jeanine has been writing most of her life, many (okay, almost all) of her words have been for her day jobs, term papers, volunteer work, or used to make endless 'to do' lists she rarely looks at.
In 2019, Jeanine finally published the first book in her Sunshine Bay series -Love's Fresh Start - followed by three more so far, and is now writing as fast as she can, trying to make up for lost time.

Jeanine lives in the lower mainland of British Columbia, Canada not far from the fictional town of Sunshine Bay where most of her characters live.
A great read! Grab your copy, a cup of coffee, sit down and enjoy. Once you start reading the book you won't want to put it down until you finish. It's well written, enjoyable and the characters you easily fall in love with.

Because this is a short story, I understand that the pace is not necessarily realistic (or maybe I am simply not a romantic at heart?), so I left that aside, and enjoyed the short ride with Veronica, a widow in her 50s as she is.. well… snowed in.
As mentioned earlier, I enjoyed this story, it was a quick and easy read, with relatable characters.

Veronica was on her way to help her mother in law out when she ended up running out of gas. Her husband had passed away 5 years ago but she still looked after his mother. So during a snow storm she was headed to help her out and she was following a big semi when all of a sudden she had no gas. Jeet to the rescue and he brought her to his mother’s house because she needed a place to stay and his mother needed care with bathing because of a previous accident. Veronica was falling for Jeet but long distance relationship was not worth it she thought. Quick little novel and cute.

I enjoyed this touching second-chance holiday romance with endearing characters and a great story that kept me entertained and engaged from beginning to end.
It was such a lovely story in the mid of the snowy night. I completely enjoy reading it. The way Jeet took care of Veronica touched my heart. Veronica's gestures changed because she learned a lot from Jeet's mother in the past 7 days. As this story is completely based on a snow trap and social service the small sort of little love made me think that second chances are not always dangerous it too had a pleasant ending. "It is better to be wanted than needed" Sometimes we want you here makes sense. I appreciate the author's effort to bring such kind of short story which completely stole my heart. Life never ends in first love though Veronica lived with Aaron peacefully and happily it doesn't mean once Aaron passed away she did not want to find a life of her it is okay until she wishes to be with jeet🥰
This romance is short-story brief. The shorter a story is, the harder I think it is to make it an outstanding and satisfying story. This couple certainly had potential, but the author didn't really show them falling for each other, even though this is a forced proximity story. Yes, the author showed a few stolen kisses, but nothing was really told or shown of their growing feelings and burgeoning relationship. Instead, the story was ho-hum and more than a little dry. As this is a forced proximity story, the author certainly had the opportunity to show them this way, but instead of fleshing out the story with meaningful and telling scenes, she simply imparted that time went by with particular actions, telling us that time advanced as the pair helped their closed-off community but not including details about how the romance aspect advanced. I like that this is a middle-aged couple. In fact, the heroine is my same age, but older heroes and heroines, in particular, have a rich backstory for an author to mine—or should—from which many conflicts could spring and to make the book poignant, compelling, and heart-rending. Despite the setting, this book had little conflict, and when they were separated in the dark moment that every romance must have, the heroine didn't seem to care as much as she should about the potential end of a possibly live-changing romance (especially in a romance novella), only mentally pondering that she would get over this attraction as she got over the death of her husband. Make her want; make her crave! Not romantic in my book! Also, the novella wrapped up super fast, unbelievably so. This entire story went so quickly and had so little to it that I found it ultimately very unsatisfying.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Veronica Renard is driving through a snowstorm to reach her mother-in-law. The weather is getting worse, and to add to her bad day, her car runs out of gas.
A while after she gets stranded, a savior named Sergeant Gurjit ‘Jeet’ Gill appears, taking her into town.
Since Veronica is a nurse, and the community hall turned shelter is full, Jeet asks her for help. He proposes that Veronica accompanies him to his mother’s house to care for her, where Veronica can stay until the storm passes.
This is a cute novelette with a good romantic side. Since it’s small I was left wanting to know more about these characters. But, keeping in mind the length of this story, it has a lot to tell us, and I enjoyed reading it.

Sweet second chance at love romance that, as good novellas do, left me wanting more story about Veronica and Jeet!
Veronica is stranded in a small British Columbia town during a major snowstorm, and first responder Jeet rescues her. They feel an attraction immediately, and it grows as they work together helping stranded motorists for a week while the mountain passes are closed. When the roads open, Veronica heads home, determined to live life to the fullest, and when she once again needs vehicular help, she gets a wonderful surprise.
Thank you to Book Sirens and the author for the opportunity to read and review this novella.
I loved short stories the best! I love how Veronica connected with Jet in an instant. They had such a connection and he was constantly watching her, and the fact that he rescued her and asked for her help. They spent time together and helped out at the Center during the storm. Veronica being a nurse was a great help to people that needed it. In the end after Veronica got home and was on her way to a NewYears party, she had car trouble again and Jet rescued her once again. He tells her that he transferred to her town and they spend New Years together. What’s in store for them? I could see this as a series, absolutely loved it!

Honesty here. I wanted to give it a 3 stars review, but kept reminding myself it was a novella. Novellas you don’t get more.
It was such a good storyline. The premise of promises and commitments.
The story was practical and believable except for one incident at the end of the story. I won’t reveal it because you need to participate in this quick, fun read.
Remember… it’s a novella so even though you may want more then it wouldn’t be a novella.

This is the first book I have read by Jeanine Lauren. I liked that the characters in the story were older. I also liked how Veronica was trying to help her mother-in-law and ended up caught up in a bad snowstorm. I felt like fate stepped in when Sergent Gill came to help rescue Veronica. It was fun to watch the chemistry and the sparks between them. Too bad they lived so far apart. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
A sweet short story of finding a chance of love in a snowstorm. Learning to take care of yourself in spite of other people demands on you. Clean and wholesome, too.
A new to me author, loved her writing style. I also love short stories that I can fit into my schedule, so this worked well for me.
I received a copy of the book for free---and then realized I already owned it! Anyway, this review is my opinion and worthwhile reading again!
This was an okay read. There wasn’t much conflict between the characters, and I didn’t really get any real feelings between the two of them. More like they liked each others company, thought they were cute, but I didn’t really get any big romantic feelings from either of the main characters. This is a sweet and sexy later in life romance between Veronica and Jeet. It's a story of having second chances at love and finding it when least expecting it. It's a well written short story with perfectly painted scenes and is a cute read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
A sweet, very short story during which nurse-practitioner, Veronica, is rescued by Jeet when she runs out of gas during a snowstorm just outside Maple Cove. An instant feeling of trust enables her to spend time with Jeet and his mother before she returns home to resume her normal busy life.

Snowed in with You is a Later in Life Novelette by Jeanine Lauren. I really enjoyed this sweet romance. I thought the characters were so believable and the situation of being stranded in the snow was realistic. The story length is perfect for a quick read. This book made me smile. Bad weather and other circumstances bring Veronica and Jeet together. Now they have a second chance at love. I like that they both have family as a priority in their lives. It's a short read, but so nice, a real feel-good story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I sat down Saturday morning with my coffee and started reading. I didn't stop until the book was done. This was a great story which was a quick read. I loved that it was located in Canada. A great inspiring romantic story!.

Thanks to BookSirens and the publisher for an advance review copy of this book; I very much appreciate it.
This is a sweet short story. It feels like a old friend -- familiar, cozy and welcoming. While the plot was a little bit predictable, it was a quick and easy read which I thoroughly enjoyed. I'd be happy to read more from this author.
One doesn't know what life may bring & the h runs out of gas in a snowstorm. She's rescued by an officer near her age. As the few days go by they are more connected as she's a nurse & helps his mother who has a leg cast. Sometimes mutual try attraction happens quickly. Very quick read.
Love the later in life stories. The characters have settled into their way of life but unexpected events happen and unexpected romances could be started. Wonderful characters. Good read.

A cute, quick story. It definitely makes me want to read more by this author. I love small town stories. Meera was sweet. I’m off to look for more books by Jeanine Lauren. I received this book as an ARC from Book Sirens.
What a sweet story. Snowstorm, middle aged stranded lady, knock knock - rescued. I smoked and laughed and nodded my head in agreement. Perfect short brain cleansing romantic read between lengthy books.
Read thru this charming story today while at work in-between calls. Writing style quickly drew me in, and the characters were all great. Very much enjoyed my time with this book, and will certainly look into other titles by this author.
