Disappointing

Boring n difficult to digest....unlike other novels by varsha dixit...at the beginning one thinks it is hilarious n the protagonist is cracking some kind of home but getting to know that they r creatures belonging to other world it is rather disappointing

I had bought this book for a friend, as a birthday gift, since she likes love stories a lot. But she did not like it. So I decided to give it a try and find out what was wrong with it. But as it turned out, I ended up liking it, a lot. I am not a big fan of romance, but this had it all, comedy, suspense, supernatural beings, drama, mystery, and two star crossed lovers. As always Varsha makes the characters real to you. By going into character detail like personality, appearance, sensations and emotions.

All of Varsha Dixits characters are too good to be true (especially the hero’s). So it’s obvious that the hero in the book is the hottest person on the planet earth (which your mind could ever imagine!). And not to mention that he is half vampire, half werewolf. Making him the strongest being in the world! Not that I am obsessed with vampires. But the truth is, this concept of vampires and werewolf’s has been around for ages, and it has been done to death. But this book has reinvented the fantastical creatures in a way that, vampires and werewolf’s have a completely different persona.

Meghana Chandra our heroine (a human) is a twenty two year old awkward, but quirky woman working in the USA. She has a very simple life, which revolves only around work and home. She is obsessed with horror films. And like many women in their 20’s, she is desperate to fall in love. As the story starts, she is leaving a movie theatre on a late Christmas evening, all alone after watching (off course) a horror film. With the rush of adrenaline within, by effects of the movie, she dares the devil to come after her! And guess what? Fate was listening! Her wish is granted! Because that same night, she meets the mysterious Byron!

Byron, a tall, strong, enchanting, smart, vastly knowledgeable, and handsome man. The Lord of the Vampires and Werewolf’s, a hybrid. Called Lord Byron by all his kind/s. Meets Meghna in the parking lot. As any rational person would, she tries to avoid him but can’t as he is standing by her car, clearly waiting for her. Wondering, why on earth such a beautiful person would be here to meet her, in the middle of the night. At first, she thinks that he is a serial killer. But he is beautiful and looks rich. And for some reason unexplained by science, she feels a strange attraction towards him. Not knowing that Byron has come to abduct her. Meghna’s life is going to change forever!

I'm usually not the kind of reader who enjoys horror stories, films or books of that genre. But this one really made me rethink.Varsha has her way of dealing with a difficult subject in a tasteful manner. My heart went out to the protagonists of the story, and the 'aah I wish the ending were different' feeling didn't go away. All in all a good paranormal story for those who usually don't read them.

Initially, I found the story over-dramatic just like Hindi TV serials and damn boring! There are certain things which I feel have been copied from Fifty Shades of Grey, or maybe all love stories are the same! Nevertheless, as the story unfolded itself, it became interesting and towards the end, a page-turner! The end was heart-churning. Overall it was a commendable work of fiction.
The fact that Meghna did not die was quite predictable as this is what happens in all Indian novels!

Okayish.
End was a huge disappointment. As if even author struggled how to finish what she accidentally started.
