L'iconographie médiévale

Rate this book

I read this book after Maiestas Domini by Anne-Orange Poilpré in order to get a better handle on the development of Christian iconography in the Middle Ages. It was well-written and well-organized and not too academic for me although I have to admit I found that the discussion on iconography vs iconology was a little bit too esoteric at times. The book is highly readable and covers the period from about the 9th century until the 13th century.
