The story begins with a simple reunion. Seven best friends, Faith, Spencer, Grace, Hope, Alex, Devon, and Josie, who grew up in foster care together all meet in their hometown of Bryan, Texas for the graduation of the two youngest in the group, Josie and Devon. During a picnic in the park, a portal is opened, a portal to Alius which, they find out, is where they’re really from. Led by a mysterious man named Markus, this unusual group of orphans makes their way through the Enchanted Wood, over the Black Desert and into the Rajin mountains where the secret Order of the Ouranios has been hiding for countless centuries. But, the Ouranios have been all but destroyed and there is only one left free, Padua, the Prophet. Padua along with her sage, a young man named Cordon, help Spencer, Faith and the others understand where they come from and where they’re going. They learn about power addicts called vampires who are the reason Alius is almost completely destroyed. In their quest to restore the Balance to Alius and destroy the Vampiric addiction forever, Spencer and her friends learn that passion is the greatest weapon a woman yields, and that love never dies.
