Traditional Literature #7 This book is about a stepmother ordering her husband to take his children deep into the woods in order to get rid of them. The first time that the husband did, the children found their way back home. The second time, the children did not get so lucky. They eventually made it to a gingerbread house where an old witch tricked them. The witch was planning to eat Hansel, but the children escaped before she could do so. They found their way home and when they did, their stepmother was gone.
Hansel and Gretel is about two kids who have a step mom and a dad. The step mom is very mean and orders the dad to take the kids into the forest where they do not return because they cannot find their way back. Eventually, the kids end up at an evil witch's house and she tries to beef up one of Hansel so she can eat him. This doesn't work and Gretel pushes her in the fire and the kids run free back to their home to find that their dad got rid of the step mom and they could now live happily together.
Hansel and Gretel are sent to live into the woods because their father is poor and their stepmother is evil. After finding a gingerbread house and being tricked by the witch to go in and stay, the witch locks Hansel into a cage to fatten him up to eat. Gretel saves Hansel and they run home to live off her treasure with their father.
In this story, Hansel and Gretel are sent off into the deep woods by their stepmother and father. The stepmother turns into a witch and tries to kill the children, but the children outwit her. In a way, this story resembles Cinderella but with a twist. Cute little story that children will enjoy.
