“The dark approaches. Fire will consume and restore, happiness and pain must be experienced collectively. Death for three will be the end.”
Her memory taken and her whereabouts unknown Artemis is taken in by a coven of witches who give her the name Chandra. After an intense interaction with the Beta of the Werewolves, whom she can’t deny a connection to, Chandra learns that there are people who know her true identity and that she’s not the only halfbreed werewolf alive. Is he really her mate? Just who was she in this previous life? Does she even want to find out the truth? And can she decipher the meaning of her death prophecy before it’s too late?
Catherine Banks is an award-winning, USA Today Bestselling fantasy author who writes in several romance subgenres under multiple pseudonyms. She began writing fiction at only four years old and finished her first full-length novel at the age of fifteen. She is married to her soulmate and best friend, Avery, who she has two amazing children with. After her full time job, she reads books, plays video games, and watches anime shows and movies with her family to relax. Although she has lived in Northern California her entire life, she dreams of traveling around the world. Catherine is also C.E.O. of Turbo Kitten Industries™, a company with many hats including being a book publisher and store full of nerdy fun.
Healed by Fire picks up 100 years later from where the story left off in Kiss of a Star. I love the characters and this story.
Artemis is living with a witch coven and is friends with Draco Blue, the king of the dragons. She believes her name is Chandra and she has no memory of her past. One day on a trip to the store Chandra meets a handsome young man that seems to know her. She does not know him but she feels like she does. He turns out the be her werewolf mate Ares. Along with the help of the dragons and the witches, Chandra (Artemis) is able to regain her memories. She is also reunited with Ares, her werewolf mate and Achilles, her sidhe (farie) mate. Then the real action starts with the vampires still trying to find Artemis. Then you have the love triangle added in. She is in love with Ares but has feelings for Achilles and doesn't know how to deal with the whole situation. I love the connection between Artemis and Ares. I do feel for Achilles though, he just wants to be with Artemis too.
I loved reading this and did not want to put it down, just like the previous books in this series. I do wish that it would have been longer, as some things did feel a little rushed at times. Some characters from earlier in this series make a return. I am excited to see where the author is going to take the story next. This e-book was given to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way.
omg! I hope the fourth book comes out soon lol. this is an awesome series. Cat u did an amazing job. :-) I love all the characters and how u can really feel what they are feeling.
Ok. I have been giving these books 4.25 stars but this one takes the cake. I only give 5 stars if I think I will read the series again. Darn this was so good. Catherine takes you on emotional journeys that makes me want to tell work I am sick and can't work today just to read. I won't do that... but I want to. Delicious. Emotional. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. 2 for spice. Off for the final book.
At the end of Book 2, Artemis had her memory removed from her. She woke up not knowing who she was. A hundred and five years later. She runs into Ares, not knowing who he is. Can she get her memory back? Can they fight to save the world from Maurice, King of the Vampires? Or do we have more loss on the horizon? Read and follow their epic adventure.
I've said it once and I'll say it again; This book is progressing way too freaking fast! The readers should get the opportunity to savor each major event as it happens. This should not progress instantaneously only to immediately move on to the next "Oh so heart-stopping" moment.
I'll admit that Catherine did a notably better job with this towards the end of this book, but still the beginning was so instantaneous that each random event gave me mental whiplash and made my head pound with its absolute power to irritate me. I mean, really? :
Artemis was separated from her family within the last 10 pages of book 2 and within that same number of pages was reunited with Ares in book 3. Where is the 'savor'? And why the heck could we not have followed at least some of Artemis's story in those 100 years? We start this book and all of a sudden Artemis is the badass that has a complete hold on all her powers. Obviously this was not the case in previous books. Is this not a pretty disheartening insta-event? I would have been THRILLED to have experienced her rise to power and felt a connection to her, finding her way and becoming the badass that she is in book 3.
Also, what I find kind of annoying is the abrupt endings. I feel like the books should end with more of a "Bam!" They should either end earlier or continue just a little further. Like book one: I think it would have been more of a 'Bam!" Moment if Catherine would have ended with Achilles calling her his fiancée. We didn't need Ares' comment until book 2. Book 3, I think, could have simply ended with Death's inquiry as to the price Ares would pay. (Those of you who read the book know what for) We didn't need to hear Ares throw a tantrum, then 'boom' end. That was quite a disappointment.
So these are just some of my thoughts, and yes I do have PLENTY more. I could no longer keep them in; I mean it's been 3 books now, something needs to change because right now I feel no connection to this book, and for all I care Artemis and even her baby can remain dead.
I will read the final book; only because I have an unquenchable curiosity and, like I said, it is the FINAL BOOK. Therefore, it would appear I am in this for the long haul, 'for better or worse', and I do fear it will be worse before it can ever possibly get better.
How can you not love Catherine Banks' Artemis Lupine series? The answer is you can't! It's fascinating and too hard to put down. When I picked up this book I knew full well that I had better put everything else on the back burner until this book had been read in it's entirety because that's how much Banks' writing will consume you. I read all three of these books in her series back to back and despite loving them each so much I was worried I would grow tired of the characters and plot lines by the third book since I was reading them all so close together, but that wasn't the case. I needed more information, craved knowing what was going to happen next with my favorite characters, and after the crazy, unexpected cliffhanger that Banks leaves her readers with in Kiss of a Star, there was no way I would have been able to handle not finding out Artemis' fate along with the rest of her friends and family.
Banks did not disappoint. While I was left devastated in book two with Artemis' turn of fate, Banks kept me on the edge of my seat until about half way through this installment. From there it turned into a manageable tension level. While still bitting my nails and ratcheting up my heart rate, I was able to function without snapping at everyone who dared to interupt my reading. And once again her ending left me reeling. I have no idea how she does it, and honestly it doesn't matter. Her unique writing, the way she wraps her readers up in all the intense situations and outcomes is mind blowing and at the end of the day I don't need to know how she makes that happen. I just need to know that she won't stop any time soon. Her fourth installment in the Artemis Lupine series, Taming Darkness is scheduled to come out in 2013 and to be honest that's just far to long of a wait. I'm not sure how I'll contain my curiosity and craziness but I'm going to do my best!
Go out and check this series out for yourselves and do it quickly!
Catherine sure loves her cliff hangers.. With the 2nd book being left with Artemis losing her memories of Ares, Achilles, Koda and everyone else I had no idea the book would take the turn it did. Artemis being gone for over 100 years before they finally find her and her not remembering anything but that she is half werewolf and half sidhe she has the help of her covon trying to keep her hidden. The Vampire King has taken over and wants all half breeds dead or in prison.
This book is filled with more battles and of course a love story.
I could not put this book down with so much going on and just wanting to her to get her memories back. When Ares and Achilles finally found her I was so glad for them all to be together again only to have the biggest cliff hanger of all at the end of this book.
I am so ready for the 4th book I could scream. I love the book covers Catherine chooses they are so different for others. I can't get enough of Artemis, Ares, Achilles and even Koda.

Loved it!! I'm so addicted to his series!! I can't wait for the 4th book to finally be released. I hate having such a cliff hangar at the end and having to wait forever to read the next book!
Catherine does a great job keeping the story of Artemis alive and throwing in various curve balls. I was on the edge of my seat during certain parts. My roommates even laughed at me because I was talking to myself... well talking to the book as I was reading! If you enjoy fantasy, I highly suggest this series!
ok so rating this one was a little hard for me. I really like all the characters and and the story line so I want to rate this four stars, but the writing could use a little work. It just seemed there were some parts that were rushed. I mean this book is only like 150 pages long so some parts could have easily been given more detail making this a more rounded story. Overall I've been really enjoying the Artemis Lupine and I can't wait for the next one.
I'm disappointed on how short this 3rd book is. I felt that there was too much rambling going on and to cut it short was disappointing. I felt that the book was rushed and then to make the fans wait til 2013 for the the next book is just not fair. I am a fan of the series and I was just hoping for more.
Books starts after hundred years of vampire war. Ares finds artemis but could he bring her back. Achilles again missed his chance to Artemis. New entities were added and I loved every single one. The twist was little odd but it was OK . cliffhangers are good incentives to start the next book immediately.
i loved this book , and i can't wait for the fourth book .... i recommend everyone to read this series i fell in love with all the characters and the whole thing was just amazing
Wow! Simply an amazing and unpredictable ending!! Dying to dive into book 4 immediately! These characters have gotten under my skin.... they've lodged themselves deeply within my heart. I am so torn about Artemis having two mates.... I absolutely adore Ares! This whole situation is both sad and terribly stressful. Secretly wondering if this will turn out to conclude with an RH ending that throws Koda into the mix as well.... But Ares would carry a broken heart forever more. Sigh! Victor is a constant friend and I'm holding my breath that he will remain so. Bring on more of the dragons and magical abilities. I'm so ready to read a happily ever after!!! How does Ms. Banks create these amazingly brilliant plots and unending action? She just keeps these twists coming along a very curvy book. I'm utterly mesmerized and addicted to both this series and this author ♡♡♡♡♡♡
