As the Second World War enters its final year, Ruth Bentley feels life has dealt her more than her fair share of trials and tribulations. For the second time she has lost her home in a bomb attack on Rotherhithe, and with her husband away fighting, her two daughters evacuated to Wales, and her mother killed and father seriously injured in the attack, Ruth is left to face the devastation alone. But Ruth finds friendship with Lucy, and both women dream of the day when they'll be reunited with their loved ones.

Dee Williams grew up in Rotherhithe, East London, and left school at fourteen. After living abroad, she settled in Hampshire with her husband, where she remains active as a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness while staying close to her family.

I loved the story but as it happened I downloaded from the library and I had clicked audiobooks by mistake. I carried on with it first time I had done this its not as I imagined I didn't like the voice as it changed for different characters I much prefer to read.

I loved this one, anything to do with WW2 and I'm all over it! I found the ending a bit disappointing though...
