Rate this book
The much-beloved and acclaimed Christian fiction author delivers a redemptive delight with the story of an ex-con who learns the hard way that it's better to be with God than without Him. Deon "Rocky" Rockford is released after serving nearly twenty five years in jail. He may have been "saved" on the inside, but now that his term, originally a life sentence, has been overturned, and he's free from the shackles of the prayers of the men's ministry of the New Hope Church, he wants only to focus on himself. As fearless as he is strong, this big, brawny guy won many brawls behind bars, and feels ready to forge a new life in the infamous community of Shelton Heights. But he soon starts to see that the only "rock" he can count on is God.

I just finished Upon This Rock the 4th installment in the Shelton Heights series. It well we’ll written and had a great narrator for the audio version.

The Shelton Heights series by Kendra a Norman-Bellamy was a excellent series. It has everything you need to make a series of books worth reading/listening too.

I downloaded all for books in audiobook format using my Hoopla library app for free.

Plenty of drama, mystery, laughter and hallelujah moments.

Jerome Tides has always been hardheaded and because he chose to do what he wanted instead of listening to his parents, he wound up in jail. For ten long years. While in jail, he forms a relationship with his cellmate Rocky, and when Jerome is released, he and some guys form a men's ministry and they go back up to the prison to minister to Rocky and other men in the prison. Jerome and Rocky become close and when Rocky is released he gets himself saved and becomes part of the mens' family. For the first time in his life Rocky feels like he has a real family. Rocky and Stuart Lyon's sister Kenyatta fight like cats and dogs, but they eventually get together. There's an old myth that bad things happen to everyone who lives in Shelton Heights. In the end, it is found out that Rocky was the grandson of Shelton Heights. As it turns out Shelton Heights was rich and since he died, everything is left to Rocky who is the grandson. Book 4 of the Shelton Heights series.

I really liked it, but I'm not surprise because Kendra Norman Bellamy books never disappoint. I remember reading about Rocky in one of the previous installments of this series. I didn't realize that this book was about him (I guess I didn't catch the play on words :-)
This book kept me turning the pages to find out who was the culprit of the series of mysterious events. I was happy with the way that everything ended. I also love the way Kendra updates the lives of previous characters in her book.
I would read this book again, and I would recommend it.

Rocky has lived a criminal life for most of his life until he goes to prison and meets the pastor's son. When he finally accepts Christ and surrenders his life to the Christian walk, he is given a brand new life, a new set of friends and family, and much more than he could ever think or imagine.
