EL JOVEN DE CARÁCTER es libro de lectura obligada, no sólo para los jóvenes que deseen forjarse en los más altos valores, humanos y religiosos. Es de lectura obligatoria también para todos aquellos que tengan a su cargo la delicada tarea de mostrar a la juventud la belleza sublime de la vida cristiana. Es un libro para todos, y su lectura y relectura- hará bien a jóvenes, sacerdotes, religiosos, religiosas, docentes y un largo etc. Monseñor Tihamér Tóth tiene un ideal, formar el joven de carácter. Todo el libro se desarrolla en torno al carácter que debería tener un joven para ser acabadamente un hombre de bien, y un buen cristiano. Qué es el carácter, cómo formarlo y cuáles son los obstáculos más frecuentes que podrían dejar trunca la maravillosa labor de la autoeducación que una y otra vez propone a la juventud. ¡Edúcate! Insiste una y otra vez. ¡Edúcate! Pues no alcanza solamente con la educación que recibimos de nuestros padres, maestros y profesores. Debemos hacer algo por nosotros mismos... ¡Edúcate a ti mismo! ¡Autoedúcate! Repite, y explica que la autoeducación consiste en formarnos y darnos ciertos principios rectos; pero no acaba allí la propuesta, debemos seguir y cumplir estos principios que nos hemos dado. Esta tarea es también una lucha contra toda debilidad e inclinación al mal. Es una batalla cotidiana, una acción sin tregua que requiere todas las fuerzas y toda la atención que disponemos. Exige voluntad, orden y disciplina. Dedicación y abnegación. Pide el dominio de sí mismo, un ejercicio diario y heroico. This book and "Christ and the Young Man", by the same author, are both excellent books for any young man(I'd say pre-teen to adult). They are very easy to read, split into 2 page chapters full of practical advice and spiritual admonitions.Even though it's written for boys, I found many things even I could take from reading them. I highly recommend these 2 books!

A short and concise book, very easy to read and very practical, with valuable lessons for young people. This is a book I recommend to any young person who wants advice on how to have a better life.

The Young Man of Character! What a book title in our jaded age. Given that our author was born in 1889, it is perhaps understandable.
Rather than a discourse, lecture, or topical structure, Bishop Toth uses short anecdotes from current events of his time (post WWI), the classical era, Christianity, and everyday common sense across three simple chapters:
Who is the Young Man of Character?
Obstacles to Character Formation
The Means of Forming Character
The book is full of great recommendations, and while I think it is useful for a man of any age to revisit, it is most effective to share with the young (under 20, under 16, even) to be used as an aid in character formation.

Segunda vez que leio esse, e no futuro lerei novamente.
É um livro muito prático, e bem didático. O autor, que é um bispo, explica bem e usa uns exemplos que, por mais que sejam datados, da para entender.
