Why Do You Love Me?

Rate this book
Dear Parents, This is the first in what will become a series of books designedto suggest subjects worthy of discussion with your children as theymature in their curiosity about important life issues. As adults wethink the way adults do, and we often forget how we thought as children. We have forgotten some of our fears, worries, complaints, and confusions, which were products of our innocence and fantasies colliding with real-life experiences and challenges. One of the most important means of showing our children that we love and care about them is to understand how they think and what they feel. In doing so, we reinforce them on their journey through life and give them a solid road map to guide them through life's challenging terrains. The best way to understand and help our children is to talk with them. Reading Why Do You Love Me? to your children will open the door to incredible and moving discussions on love as both a feeling and a responsibility. From one parent to another, I hope you'll be moved. Shalom, Dr. Laura Schlessinger

Why Do You Love Me? Is a heart warming book, that can easily make you call your mom or whoever took care of your growing up, and tell them how much you love them. Martha Lambert couldn't have wrote this book any better. The book begins with the mother of Sammy reading him a story. Once the story is over Sammy asks his mom why she loves him. The mother grows quiet for a bit causing Sammy's imagination to go wild. He goes on and on with reasons why his mother should love him including things like being first in the races, and being so good at karate. But, none of these reasons were why Sammy's mother loved him. The story ends with Sammy understanding the unconditional love that has for her child.

In my opinion this book was the perfect way of showing how a mother has unconditional for her child no matter what. I loved the way Martha Lamber wrote and worded the book. The only feature that I didn't enjoy were the illustrations. I thought that the pictures could have been out together a little better. I don't think that it would really allow the reader to get to know the character through the illustrations.

If I were to use this book in class I would most likely read this to my class on Mother's Day. I think that it would be cute for the children to then write their Mothers a note telling them why they love them. It would be a great writing activity, and would help them recognize that no love other than God's love is greater than their Mother's.

Dr. Laura tackles the topic of unconditional love and it works nicely. Her presentation is easy to convey and does not dumb down the concept. It is also a easy read for beginning readers.

This is such a cute book! One of the most important thing to do is show children that you love and care about them in a way that they are able to understand it and this book helps do that.

My dad came home from work one day and mentioned this book. He heard about it on the radio. I had no idea it was a children's book so I went to the bookstore with the intention of giving it to him for his birthday. They handed me this children's book, which I bought anyway. I gave it to him for his birthday and he smiled and said that he asked about it because he wanted to buy it to then give to me. By the way, I was 9 at the time. Good memory. Cute children's book :)

The book Why Do You Love Me by Laura Schlessinger, Martha Lambert, and Daniel McFeeley is a loving, personal book. I would not bring this book into the classroom only because it is more of a mother sort of thing to read to her little ones when they start asking a lot of questions and get really curious about things. I would definitely read this to my toddler children when I become a mom though.

This is a nice, short story that reemphasizes what we tell our girls all the time. We may not always like what you do, but we will always love you. The illustrations are cartoon-like and follow the story well. We discussed the emotions that little Sammy expresses throughout the story.

This is a great book, enjoyable for every age. It's a great lesson to show children that the don't have to be the best at everything to be loved by their parents. Just simply being themselves and putting forth their best effort is good enough.
