The Principles of War for the Information Age

Rate this book
One of the most cogent and respected strategic theorists in today's military sounds the We have no viable doctrine for tomorrow's war. The advent of the information age renders the hallowed Principles of War useless. Forged in agrarian times and honed by the more modern conflicts of the industrial age, the principles that have guided generations of America's military leaders have become dangerously outmoded. In this, his latest book, Lt. Col. Robert R. Leonhard, author of the influential Art of Maneuver and Fighting by Minutes, proposes a new set of principles, indeed a new approach to armed conflict.

I first read this when it came out and wasn't as impressed as I was by Leonhard's earlier Art of Maneuver, but then I was more interested in applying military theory to the tabletop game than to the modern battlefield, and Art of Maneuver seemed more suited for that transition.

Flipping through my copy lately, I think it would probably deserve a re-read, and I suspect that my rating may go up if I do so.
