Bought the first 6 volumes to reread them for Halloween 2024. Same comment that I had for the first book—the stories just don't hit in terms of scariness they way they did when I was ten years old. However, giving this one a bit of a higher rating because it contains my favorite short story ever in this whole series: Food Trip by Gianna Maniego. As someone who's made that exact drive from Bacolod to a remote town in the hinterlands of Negros Island, this story still spooked me even as an adult.
@ first i thought that by just signing in to this pag i am gonna be able to read the book that i want... well, if that's suppose to be the case, can someone tell me how to do that without buying any copy???? Please???
If you’re Filipino and you love short horror stories, you’re going to love this anthology. I personally think Books 1-20 or so are the best ones. Most of the stories in the latter books (especially the 30+ ones) just seem to be (typically bad) creative fiction exercises from aspiring writers.
For Book 2 specifically, I loved the stories Food Trip, Ghost Child in the House, The Carpenter, and School Spooks.
Much better than the first one. The stories have aged, though. Perhaps they've already been retold and retold as urban legends? Still don't like how the stories are told in a clinical, matter-of-fact way. Walang suspense.
i wanna be tough and say this didn't scare me. but i made sure my closet door was closed all the way so i didn't feel like someone was peaking at me from the inside. so yeah, take that what you will.
i also want to consider this as my research for my wips so yeah
