Started great, but slowed to a point I started to lose interest. Skimmed the last half, ending a bit predictable. I loved the concept of a shapeshifter dragon in Nashville, but it read more like a rom suspence and not a PNR. Likable characters, some nice heated love scenes, but otherwise just OK.

Noah may be a dragon but he has lived as a human for the last 2,500 years since he changed form for a woman he loved. Now he lives for his music and for his treasures but his heart has never quite recovered from the reaction his first love had when she discovered what he was. He thought his identity was a well kept secret but it appears that someone has figured out what he is and they are prepared to go to any length to find a way to use him to gain immortal life. Lila is a strong woman and a martial arts expert who has an intense need to protect those around her. She has a troubled past and a difficult relationship with the sister who she loves but has been unable to save from a drug addiction and violent boyfriend. When the person who is after Noah kills Lila's sister she is determined to get revenge but she is going to need Noah's help to draw him out so she can go after him. Can she bring herself to trust Noah in time to go after their enemy?

I enjoyed Edie Ramer's previous story Cattitude and love dragons so was looking forward to reading Dragon Blues and it didn't disappoint. I loved her characterisation of Noah and even in his human form you could tell he was still a dragon underneath. His obsession with his treasure was hilarious and I would love to get a look at his collection! He isn't just a dragon though, he is also a sexy man but one who has suffered in past relationships and is wary of love. Noah is intensely lonely though and when Lila catches his eye he doesn't hesitate to go after what he wants despite his fears which is something I really liked about him.

Lila struggles against the idea of trusting Noah, her past has shown her that even the people closest to her can't be relied upon so she has always kept to herself. Despite feeling drawn to Noah she is wary of him and worried about giving in to her feelings. She was a great character though, very strong and so protective of those that she cares about. Lila didn't think twice about putting herself in harms way even for the chance of saving a stranger.

I really enjoyed the action in the story and Edie Ramer certainly knows how to create a great bad guy. One of the things that sometimes annoys me is when there is no real motive for the bad guy's behaviour but in this case it is explained very well and understandable even if you don't agree with what he is doing. With some sexy love scenes between Noah and Lila and a fast paced story line Dragon Blues is a great story and one I would recommend to paranormal romance fans. I'm looking forward to seeing what the author comes up with next!

Dragon Blues sucks you in and never lets you go. The combination of a dragon-turned-man who uses music to fill the loneliness of his soul, with the woman who despite her past refuses to withdraw from life, is combustible. Dragon Blues explores the issues of loneliness, hurt and redemption against a backdrop of greedy and desperation. If you like action, a beautifully drawn love story and excellent writing, this book is for you.

I agree with a few of the other reviewers that the pacing was a bit too slow. Still, this was an interesting read and I liked that it wasn't a flat out paranormal, but simply featured a character who just happened to be a dragon. Pick it up if you're looking for something a little out of the ordinary.

I liked this book a lot. I liked that the heroine does a lot of her own ass-kicking and doesn't jsut wait for the hero to rescue her.

When I first started, Dragon Blues, I didn't know what to expect. It was recommended to me in a newsletter for my Kindle. So I usually go for books that I know are part of a series but this premise just called out to me. It was interesting to see how it would play out... a dragon in human form, falling in love with a woman. The allusion to was an interesting twist.

The antagonists where a little too run of the mill, which made this book less of a thriller, which are typical what I like to read, and more of an action adventure. All the characters are clearly defined in their motives. I like how Edie Ramer gave human motives to dragon lore and a plausible fate for dragons.

Although Noah is a dragon in human form, Lila is a perfectly crafted character to be his companion. In the beginning they are both closed off of love. There developing love and the story is crafted in a way that I never care to figure out the outcome, I just enjoy the read while it lasted. The ending did leave me a little anticlimax, I realize now that I just wanted the story to continue. I felt like I was ready for the next episode read. Edie Ramer did leave the door wide open if she decides to revisit these characters, which I personally would like to see happen.

Dragon Blues is a lite fantasy paranormal romance. I would like to recommend this to everyone, but a few chapters push this book out of "suitable for children" range. If you need a lite enjoyable fantasy read this is the book for you.

I love dragon shifters and I loved the blues playing dragon shifting leading man, so I liked Dragon Blues for the most part -t here were a couple oddities that knocked my enjoyment down just a notch though. I thought that the way that the heroine initiates the first couple love scenes was weird - their first encounter is initially more like a take down and take what you need by the heroine but morphs when the hero lets loose. And while I thought the heroine was interesting (she's amazon-like and lethal and he calls her 'honorable' thoug she's 'gray hat' in some ways) she kind of goes to emotional mush for a while (understandably, but somehow not quite fitting with her character.) And lastly, while I have some issues with erotic language Ramer use of the 'v' word for our leading lady's 'happy' place was another oddity (but since, as I mentioned, I don't like the more anglo-saxon words used to refer to portions of the female anatomy, I guess I shouldn't complain to much about the more clinical terminology).

On the plus, did I mention he's a Dragon Shifter - I know I did but I am a sucker for the step beyond 'mine' with dragon shifters where the heroine becomes the only one of the dragon's treasures that he cares about.

So somewhere around 4 stars (3.5 plus, so 'pretty good' to 'I liked it')

Noah Long turned human for love, a love that was betrayed. Now 2500 years later, the reincarnated woman he'd loved has returned and she's brought trouble with her. His normal instinct is to take his treasures and run, but one thing makes him stay. Lila Fox has spent her life being strong but it wasn't enough to save her mother or sister. But it was enough to avenge her mother's death and hopefully punish her sister's murderer as well. Unfortunately, she's going to need help, not something she's used to.

Now the best man for the job isn't a man at all but a dragon. And he may be the only one strong enough to get the job done, but the cost may be at a price she isn't willing to pay.

Nick is a fascinating character. Ms Ramer does an amazing job of showing a man with all a dragon's legendary traits--including his love of treasures. Lila is a strong woman almost to the point of being brittle. Her strength makes her weak, something she'd never admit and only comes to realize in the hunt for her sister's killer. Dragon Blues is a fun read with enough whimsy to soften the dark backdrop of abuse and greed. With a few unanswered questions, I hope that there's a sequel in the works.

If you love dragons as much as I do, pick up a copy of Dragon Blues.

From Lilac Wolf and Stuff

Noah, a dragon who had been alive for at least 2,000 years, is wise. He knows that he can get more accomplished by keeping his cool. Lila has a fiery temper, but even so is more than capable of taking care of herself.

Noah is in love, but knows that Lila is broken by her past. Yet he has all the patience in the world to wait for her. Lila is afraid to love, to be dependent on another person, especially a man.

I adored Noah and Lila in this story. Their personalities weren't similar but they still meshed quite well. And Lila's strength. She wasn't always right in her strength and attitude, but she never backed down. And Noah, instead of being intimidated by this, stepped aside and let her be herself. He never once pushed her aside, when she told him to let her handle a situation, even if he knew she was going to make it worse. It's not often you see a capable and strong female lead.

This was an interesting romance. I liked the MC Noah, he was a well fleshed out character. Lila on the other hand, sometimes I felt that she was sometimes too much of a stereotype. By the end of the book I felt she become a more rounded character and was very kick ass.

The story moves very quickly and there are no surprises just the expectation of when does the bad guy get his butt kicked or in this case because of a dragon, fried.

A very nice read, and I hope this author either comes back to these characters or continues to build and expand the world she has created.

I simply love the way Ramer writes and the heart she brings to her stories. The beautifully crafted characters, the musical connections and the thought-provoking themes, such as those of redemption, rebirth and change, make this story memorable and hard to put down. Another wonderful read by this talented author!

This is an interesting paranormal romance. I really enjoyed it.

Noah Long is an interesting character. He is a dragon, who has shape-shifted into human form to enable him to "fit in" with the human population. He has a deep appreciation of treasures and flashy items, but his greatest passion is music, Blues to be more precise. That is until he meets Lila Fox.

Lila Fox is also an interesting character. She is a strong, independent woman, who has not had a wonderful childhood. After (accidentally but on purpose) killing a man in self defense, she finds herself in Noah's store, but having to deal with more than she bargained for.

I downloaded this book when I first bought my Kindle back in 2012 as the synopsis intrigued me. I have read lots of stories where people shape-shift into dragons, and only one other book besides this one that has a dragon shift into human form to blend in. This story captured me from the first page. Unfortunately, about one third of the way in, I felt that the momentum of the story seemed to fizzle. It was as if the author was struggling to come up with something to tie certain scenes together. Other readers may disagree, because the book I downloaded was published in 2012 and, as this book was re-released in 2013, I don't know if my copy was updated with any changes. However, I persevered reading. The story picked up pace again and climaxed in an amazing fight scene near the end.

I am all for instant attraction, but insta-love after knowing someone for four days? I'm not so sure. Be that as it may, I loved the interaction between Noah and Lila, but most of the other characters seemed not as well developed as they could have been. I was also not happy with the villainous character of Carter Fromm. He didn't seem very convincing as a villain. He did have a huge ego and, although he had a crippling disease, I couldn't feel anything for him. I think that Carter Fromm got what he deserved in the end though.

Edie Ramer has written a paranormal romance that kept me entertained from beginning to end. Her writing style was fast paced, though the flow could have been better. I have not read any other books by this author, but I would definitely try her other books in the future.

Due to scenes of a sexual nature that are a little on the explicit side, I do not recommend this book to younger readers (under 16). However, I recommend this book if you love paranormal romances or stories with sexy dragons. - Lynn Worton

Dragon Blues was a surprising paranormal read. Just when you think you've read everything there is to read in a genre, a book will come along that surprises you. Dark and sweet at the same time, Dragon Blues works in a variety of paranormal and plotting elements to come up with something unique, and unique in a world as saturated as PNR is definitely a good thing.

The story here begins with an interesting series of events that, except for coincidence, would have been unrelated. When a pair of drug addicts attempt to rob the store belonging to Noah Long, they set in motion events that will have an impact throughout the rest of the story. Noah is a dragon who shifted to human form 2500 years ago and stayed that way; he has the mind and recuperative powers of a dragon but has been passing in the human world all this time.

Against his better judgement, he lets the two thieves go, figuring that getting the crap scared out of them would be enough to keep them away from his store from now own. When the female thief returns, suffering from withdrawal and claiming she has nowhere else to go but the streets, Noah agrees to let her stay there until she gets things under control. While she's sleeping, he calls her sister.

That sister is Lila Fox, a lethal martial arts practitioner who's been put through the physical and emotional wringer by her family members time and again. She isn't surprised to find out her sister Izzy is in trouble again, but she's mortified to realize that Izzy's drawn a complete stranger into her personal disaster and Lila is on the next flight to Nashville to clean up the mess.

When Lila arrives, it becomes apparent that Izzy is making a complete mess of things at the request of her abusive and drug-addicted boyfriend, but Izzy makes her own, unfortunate choices. Lila understands that she can't make Izzy do anything she doesn't want to do, but it isn't in Lila to give up on people she loves, as she's been on the receiving end of that too many times.

When Izzy and her boyfriend, Kevin, do something really stupid and in the process reveal that someone is after the secret of Noah's health and longevity, Noah and Lila agree to work together to avenge Izzy's death and halt the threat on Noah's life. They didn't plan on falling in love (or as close to love as Lila is willing to own up to) in the process, but it just goes to show that not everything in life can be planned out to the last minute detail.

Dragon Bound was beautifully paced and written, not too long or too short, with lots of details thrown in for flavor that I haven't seen anywhere else. Noah's devotion to his music, Lila's unique personality and abilities, and the beautiful backdrop of Nashville all help with the setting and flavor of the story. The ending, too, was supremely satisfying. I hate the phrase "happy for now" and so was pleased to see this ending as "happy together for the first time in a long time." If anybody deserves peace and happiness and a committed relationship where the other person's loyalty is beyond question, it's Lila and Noah.

If you're already in love with PNR or are looking to explore the genre more fully (join us, JOIN US) then I definitely recommend giving Dragon Blues a go.

Dragons Do It Hotter!

In Edie Ramer’s novel Dragon Blues dragon, Noah Long, has lived as human for over 1000 years. His bluesy, saxophone playing soul was wounded millennium ago by a pretty woman. To his utter shock her reincarnated-self, Izzy Walton, walks into his Nashville shop, Dragon’s Lair, to rob him. When the robbery goes awry, it is another surprise that Izzy comes back to plead for Noah’s help. Her partner in crime is actually her abusive, junky boyfriend and she wants David to help her. Despite his distance from his humanity Noah can’t turn away the battered Izzy and when she goes into withdrawal he phones her sister Lila.

Martial Arts wielding Lila Fox is a leggy blond whose been protecting herself from all men, especially abusers, since she was a young six-year-old who had to witness her stepfather beating, and then later paralyzing, her mother. When Lila gets the call from Noah it is fortuitous, as she was in an altercation that requires her to flee her home in California. So, despite her reservations about Izzy’s sincerity Lila runs to Nashville to aid her sister. Soon after it is clear that Izzy is pretending to want help and that a sinister man, Carter Fromm, wants Noah and his blood to help Carter heal from a degenerative disease. Once tragedy befalls Izzy and her addict boyfriend Lila sets out to get revenge and Noah is by her side.

With a strong kick ass heroine who never needs to be rescued, and a sexy, bad ass hero who appreciates a strong woman and doesn’t let his innate desire to protect her override his knowledge that she can, and needs to, protect herself Ramer delivers a novel with well-matched and easily likeable characters. It is Noah’s ability to appreciate and respect the warrior that Lila is, never wanting to change her and only ever wanting her by his side, that makes the brooding dragon uber-sexy.

Noah and Lila both have baggage that they need to work out and through the course of the novel, as they get to know each other, they learn that it is okay to not always be strong, to trust someone else, and to allow yourself to feel pain when you are hurting.

There are a few issues with the novel: I never felt a sense of urgency. Usually, I can finish a novel in a day, day and a half, but it did take me a week to make it through Dragon Blues (I even stopped halfway through to read Oracle Moon by Thea Harrison); it also isn’t clear how Noah was able to turn into a human, and the issue became even more confusing once he speculated that the other dragons might have turned into predatory birds. Are dragons shape shifters? What gave him the ability to morph into human? While I was able to let the curiosity pass it still niggled me after I finished the novel.

Despite these few minor nuisances, Dragon Blues was an enjoyable read and I would recommend it. Especially if you love dragons!

Book 1 in the Dragon Series

Description: (Goodreads) Once a dragon…
Saxophone player Noah Long shifted from dragon to human 2500 years ago, but the dragon blood still coursing through his veins has kept him healthy and virile. Now his secret is out, and the man who discovered it will do anything to make Noah’s blood his own. From My Point of View: Dragon Blues was definitely an interesting read. I was super excited when Edie asked me to review her book because I've never read a paranormal book about dragons. Witches? Vampires? Shifters? Psychics? Done 'em all... so something new was definitely welcome!

As far as characters go, I really liked both Noah and Lila. They were both strong leading characters in their own way. Noah, of course, had his dragon thing going for me. He was fiercely independent, but it was nice to see him accept Lila into his life seemingly easily. Lila, was also fiercely independent, but in a different way. You could tell it was definitely difficult for her to accept Noah into her life. I like that Lila had a rough past that she had overcome. I felt that made her a stronger character.

I did not like "Beauty" as Noah referred to her. Obviously, there isn't a whole lot to like about Junkie who continually puts everyone around her in danger. I hated how she made Lila's life difficult ALL THE TIME.

The plot was super easy to get into. I didn't go into the book with high expectations (I try not to do this because I hate to be let down), but I was instantly hooked. It was one you just had to keep reading. Ramer had a great writing style that was gripping.

My thoughts:

I have read reviews of her books and now I finally got a chance to read one of Edie's books, and it did live up to the good things I have heard.

In this book we meet Noah who once was a dragon but then turned human to pursue a woman, but he never shifted back to dragon after that. He has lived alone for long, and he only lives for his music and his treasures (cos he is a dragon and he lives the bling). He is strong, but also vulnerable, he is lonely, and saddened by the all the years on his own. But he is also protective and sweet, and I liked him (of course it did help that he had a cat he loved too).

.

Then there is Lila, she is also a broken by things from the past. An abusive stepfather used to hit her mum and Lila was left on her own raising her little sister. She also did something she can't forget to protect her mother. She is very protective, strong, can kick ass, but she also finds it hard to trust people and let go. And when these two meet there is that passion simmering beneath the surface wanting to break out. Together they could be so great.

Which brings me to the rest of the book. First there is Lila's sister who Noah calls Beauty and this is because of a certain beauty and the beast fairytale, an aspect to the story I truly liked. But this Beauty is a drug-addict, beaten down and with a scumbag boyfriend. She only causes trouble. The other aspect is the suspense part. Someone thinks that Noah's blood will make him live forever and the hunt is on and that person does not care who he kills to get Noah. Blood will flow.

I am coming to the end then. Edie is a great writer and pens a wonderful story.

Recommendation and final thoughts:

It's a good paranormal romance, and it does feel original. There is this sadness to Noah that I really enjoyed, and it made me wonder if there are any other dragons left in the world. A good suspense part and some nice passion. Plus, the story about him in Wales was good ( I will say no more.)

I’m a HUGE fan of dragon shifters and this was my second time reading this story and I enjoyed it just as much as the first! There’s so much to enjoy within; great characters, a ton of emotion, a hot male/dragon, a kick butt heroin and a sweet and touching romance that will curl your toes. Any paranormal romance reader will love the escape they get with Dragon Blues.

Lila is a very strong, independent and dangerous woman that knows how to defend herself in any given situation. Actually, she’s so well trained her body is a lethal weapon! Having actually killed twice in her life protecting others, she’s afraid of what the outcome may be if she’s found out, but keeps going forward and living her life. Receiving a call from a stranger that her sister is in need of her, she packs up and runs straight to her only to find an uncomfortable situation that she’s trying her best to deal with. This stranger is a very handsome man that was only trying to help her sister and she finds herself very attracted to him, but keeps pushing it away. When she finds out her sister has been murdered only days after first seeing her, she plans to find the murderer and give him what he deserves, a painful death. But will she have to find him and complete her revenge alone or will Noah accompany her and help her find who it is?

Noah is a lone male, and is also a dragon, a very fine one at that! He has lived thousands of years, a very lonely and solitary life by his own choice. His love of music has kept him feeling alive and in human form for many of his years. The only other things he’s ever loved are his cat and his treasures, that’s until he meets the beautiful warrior, Lila. She does strange things to him that are unfamiliar and he finds the pull hard to resist. But he’s lost on how to proceed without pushing her away.

These two go through so much together and make an amazing team! Be ready for an emotional, sensual and exciting ride :)

Now this story is not short by no measure... it comes in at 177 pages... but it is a good read - it will go quick!

Ms. Ramer did it again; allowing me to escape into a kick ass heroine's life. But the hero is what intrigued me the most... A dragon! Oh yea, Ms. Ramer put a spin on the normal every day life; giving us a little more danger and a lot more loving in Dragon Blues. But I will tell you this... I want a dragon of my own!

Lila is one chick I would always want on my side. She is a strong, capable woman to do anything and everything on her own. Never needing anyone's help. Never caving to the demands of a man - or anyone for that matter. But her one weakness is her sister.... Her only family left. Half way across the continent - Izzy would change her and Lila's life once and for all. I admire Lila's determination to protect her family, no matter what the past brought them through.

Noah is a man bent on living his life alone. Keeping his secret safe and sound is all he cares about... that and his treasures. He has lived many lives and seen many things... but when Izzy walks into his life... Well, he thought he has seen anything or been through everything. Izzy might have brought him strife, but she also brings him Lila... Something he has always needed, but just never knew...

This story is a good, comfy read. Ms. Ramer keeps the tense hot and always tight.... She keeps the action rolling - in all directions. This story has more twist and turns which will keep you on your toes! Ms. Ramer ~ great job... and of course I cannot wait till the next Dragon book comes out to see where you take me for that ride of a lifetime!

I actually won this book in a competition and it sounded rather interesting as this was the first paranormal novel I had seen that was about dragons and not vampires, zombies or werewolves. What I discovered was an okay paranormal romance novel with some decent action thrown in. However, in my opinion the fact he was a dragon didn't really feel much different than if he had been a werewolf or any other type of shape shifter but it was style nice to see something a bit more original in idea.

The elements of action throughout the novel were fast paced and enjoyable. Edie Ramer also does seem to have a rather clear and concise writing style and she doesn't resort to overly flowery descriptions and waffle.

In regards to the characters, Lila came across as being stubborn and was rather irritating which made it hard for me to like her even if I could understand why she acted the way she did. Noah, however was completely different, he was actually someone you could feel for. The sense of loneliness he felt was palpable and it was obvious he had a good heart.

In conclusion, I suspect this will appeal to most Paranormal Romance fans, especially those who like shifter novels and want to see something a little different in regards to the main character being a dragon.

Whenever you pick up an Edie Ramer book you can expect three things: An original read, a romance that will take you on an emotional ride, and a book that is a complete page-turner. She proves this to be true with Dragon Blues.

Lila is a kick-ass, take no prisoners heroine that you instantly love. She has had a hard life and is always prepared for whatever come her way, that is until she meets Noah. Noah is a loner, a blues lover and a dragon who transformed to takes on a human appearance. He lives a solitary life until the day Lila walks into his life. Lila's junkie sister brings them together, and a murderer threatens to tear them apart. With Lila's hunt for revenge, Noah's drive to protect Lila, and the murderer after Noah's blood and Lila's silence - will they be able to take down the murderer before it's too late, or will their romance be over before it has really began?

This book will have you on the edge of your seat and screaming for Noah and Lila to have the happily ever after they both deserve. Will it happen? Read it and find out!

My second encounter with this author’s work – and this book was better than the first. The basic premise is a former dragon now saxophone player who meets his match in a martial arts instructor with some heavy family issues. Add in some mystery, some fantasy, and pages of sexual encounters that are both steamy and stirring, and the story unfolds in layers before your eyes.

The characters are developed in a ‘need to know’ basis, with just enough detail to provide you an outline that allows you to fill in the colors according to your own preference. Again, the author has created a world that is similar to the one we live in, and seamlessly integrated multiple elements from the worlds of fantasy and faerie tales to create a new tale that begs to be told.

Laden with humor, twists and bits of information and folklore that drop like pearls throughout the story – this is certainly one well worth a read, and I hope for more in this series.

I had previously purchased a copy of this book prior to the author providing an eBook copy for the Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Dragon Shifter Noah has changed his form into a human out of love. The love of music. After a thousand years it is the only thing tat has stayed with him. he has been betrayed over and over by the same beauty lifetime after lifetime. His heart is hardened until he has Lila trust into his life.
Lila is an abused woman who has fought back. She is a marital arts expert and has used her hand to kill to defend herself. She will never let anyone abuse her again. Her heart is even harder than Noah's she has trained it well. Even so, her sister is murdered, then she is shot, the man she does not trust saves her. Her life is now intwined with him perhaps forever. They must work together to find who committed these crimes.
This was a nice little mystery/romance. The first half really had me on the edge of my seat. The second half slowed down and had me skimming to the ending. The details got bogged down and the action just got predictable. Not a bad read far from it. I just wish the pace had stayed throughout the book.

Edie never ceases to amaze me! Another great book in a new series that I have high hopes for. I'm such a fan of delicious men and Noah definitely belongs on that list! I love Edie's ability to create such strong characters who can be vulnerable and human. Real in every sense.

This had a bit of a darker side to it that Edie's previous novels. Consensus? I loved it! Sexy men aside, I loved the story. It rang with bits and pieces of an old fairy tale but with a twist and an ending that isn't all to happy. But I love how the characters are able to create their own tale with a much happier outcome.

I can't express this enough. Edie is brilliant! I love her snarky characters, the humor, the sex, the incredible story and the perfect narration she is able to spin into a single novel. I was on the edge of my seat while savoring another Ramer masterpiece! This comes highly recommended!

I find it difficult to classify this book into one category. There are elements of fantasy, crime drama, mystery, myth, magic, and romance all wrapped up into one compelling, entertaining, and gritty plot. The author does a wonderful job revealing just enough information about her characters to keep you entertained, yet she doesn’t hit you over the head with detailed information about the why’s and how’s of her heroic couple. I personally love how she leaves some things to the reader’s imagination and doesn’t fully explain all the magic found within the pages of her book. Like a fairytale, the reader must trust the writer in order to believe that the magic in her tale is true. I believe in magic. So I am now on the watch for dragons.
