In the late 1930s, H.J. Harper is intent on finding a way to help his older sister become a veterinarian and on tracking down a leopard that has escaped from the zoo in Oklahoma City where his father is working on a W.P.A. project.
This was an endearing story of a boy who befriends an escaped leopard and ends up helping his sister progress toward her goal of becoming a veterinarian in a time when women were to get married and raise children. Period. Very simply written but with more complex themes than you might expect.
