About the author

Marie Sexton lives in Colorado. She’s a fan of just about anything that involves muscular young men piling on top of each other. In particular, she loves the Denver Broncos and enjoys going to the games with her husband. Her imaginary friends often tag along. Marie has one daughter, two cats, and one dog, all of whom seem bent on destroying what remains of her sanity. She loves them anyway.

The Promise is a Jared and Matt short, and I think by the cover you already figured out what it is about. :)

Chronologically, the story takes place a few months after the end of A to Z, at about the same time as The Letter Z.

It is utterly romantic, sweet and funny. Loved every line of it. A must read!

I loved him so much. I loved the way his hair always smelled like the Colorado wind, and the stubborn way he would cock his head toward me when he was mad, so that I couldn’t quite get my lips onto his neck. He was doing it now.

I love Promises, a lot..I even have a signed paperback of it.
It's such a great book, so when I saw there was a short ( a *sniff* really short ) little check in with Matt and Jared I jumped right on it.
All fans of these two just HAVE to read this...

A short story of Matt and Jared getting a promise ring and in this one things are pretty normal.

Well 🤔

"Sex with women had always been about softness – soft skin and soft hair and soft curves.
There was nothing soft about Jared. He was all elbows and knees and hipbones."

Yeah, we all know women don't have those, right?



I was waiting for that fuck-up, didn't quite happen. Maybe except for Matt quickly throwing away the boxes of the promise rings he bought for him and Jared because they reminded him too much of straight engagements.

But that's fine. Matt's too worried about the straight thing. He also doesn't want to get married at first when Jared asks about it, because that reminds him of marrying a woman.
Stop thinking about women so much, Matt. The bisexual dilemma. It's always worrysome, I know. Matt can change his mind overnight, tells Jared he wants kids with a woman and bam! Story over.
Who knows, with this author that can actually happen at a later novella. 😄 I wouldn't be surprised.


Moving on. I'm finishing this series even if it kills me.

Marie Sexton a écrit une micro nouvelle (11 pages) sur Matt & Jared, du point de vue de Matt cette fois-ci, à l'heure des grands choix. Décidément cet homme est touchant, son amour pour Jared est est toujours teinté d'émerveillement, d'incrédulité et de passion. Que c'est beau un homme qui aime de cette manière !
Le cadeau qu'il va offrir à son chéri est lourd de symbole, c'est beau, c'est émouvant, ça fait vibrer mon petit coeur de romantique ! La scène où il va faire ses achats est adorable et drôle, et la vendeuse aura un joli moment de complicité avec un Matt dans ses petits souliers !

Une vraie bouffée de bonheur après ma méga grosse déception du tome 3.
En quelques pages, l'auteur nous offre une parenthèse pleine de douceur et d'amour !

I wasn't able to track my status updates, so I'll just give you a rough outline of my reading experience:

1) GAAAAAH!! *pulls hair, bangs head on desk repeatedly* JARED. WHY. ARE. YOU. WITH. THIS. MORON.

2) “I can see how a simple yes or no question might confuse you, Matt.” *snicker, high fives*

3) "You go ahead. I’ll be right behind you.”
“That’s not what I want tonight,” I said jokingly, and he laughed.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. -_- Fuck you.

4) *eye roll*

5) *eye roll again*

6) "I did know him, better than Zach even, in some ways." OF COURSE you do, Master Yoda.

7) “This is enough.” Jared, I've said it before, and I'll say it now - you are a SAINT. Seriously.

But all in all... a solid 3 stars. This is probably the best written piece I've seen yet.

A very sweet & heartwarming look into Matt & Jared's life, exactly 2 years after the day they met. It shows how much they truly love each other, making me want to read Promises all over again! 🥲

They're definitely one of my favorite couples in this series. Vying for top spot along with Jonathan and Cole (Strawberries for Dessert).

A recommended read for those who like this couple as much as I do. I just wish it were longer!
